As a Fresno State fan living in Fresno, I really like how this team is built. With the players that the Bulldogs are bringing back and the players joining them through the portal, they are a squad that could sneak in through the back door and steal the Group of 5 autobid for the CFP. There is 1 obvious loss on this schedule, and it is the season opener in Ann Arbor against the reigning national champions, the Michigan Wolverines, which is in a primetime slot at 7:30pm ET on NBC. The rest of the schedule, though? I can see a path where they can run the table and rip off 12 straight wins to finish the season 12-1 and a Mountain West conference championship, with that 1 loss to Michigan their lone blemish. And if they end up pulling off a shocker in Ann Arbor, that could be the catalyst for a 13-0 season and an almost assured spot in the CFP with 2 wins against Big 10 opponents (they open at Michigan and close the season at UCLA). I feel like the Dogs are in for a special season this fall, especially IF they start with a bang by knocking off the Wolverines in "The Big House".

Been listing to these for years and every time I get fired up. Thanks for doing all the research and showing love to the smaller programs!
As a Fresno fan, there are definitely some things that were missed in this conversation. But I’m okay with that. Dogs got really really talented guys in the portal. And some of our best players are coming back from injury next year as well. Cam lockridge at corner for example.
As far as QBs goes, I don’t think any real Fresno fans are that worried. QB2 Mandal had an impressive showing at the spring game and is likely the future of the team.
Should be a fun season if we don’t blow it like usual!
    Go dogs

Due to Fresno State’s academic qualifications it’s easy to get players enrolled. At least it was that way when I was coming up. The PAC10 schools IE. USC and UCLA hated on Fresno State being an addition to the PAC 10 because they knew Fresno state would out recruit them. I’m kinda tired of the hate that Fresno state gets I’d love to see them join the Big 12 (just seems like they fit the culture of that conference)or as an addition to rebuild the PAC12 . Looking forward to the 2024 season!

Fresno goes 7-5, with losses to Michigan, Air Force, Wash St., and UCLA. The fifth loss, as always, will be to the lowest ranked team in the conference after coming off a big win against a decent opponent. Because there stupidly aren't two divisions anymore (Mountain and West), Fresno State finishes third, behind Boise and Air Force.
    Mark my words.

I overestimated AF, and should have included UNLV... but this Bulldog team may go 5-7. Maybe it's the coaching foul-ups, but this team is undisciplined, lacking leadership, and finds themselves without a program or a plan. It's just a bunch of guys, not a team. This does not bode well for the future. If they can't get a coach with some prestige--both on the field and in the off-season--they are not going to get any recruits and they are guaranteed a string of losing seasons.
