The thing I appreciate most about your video is how you explain your reasoning, challenges, and approach along the way rather than just the end result. Thank you!
The quality of string sounds you're getting out of this with your setup is fantastic, thank you for sharing. I've been looking at getting a Linnstrument but had some of the same reservations as you with the standard setup. Adding a Roli seems so intuitive now that I've seen you do it.
Been looking at getting the linnstrument. I'm just a hobbyist and do not have a music background, but you did an amazing job explaining your thought process behind this. I see that you have not posted for quite awhile. I subscribed because RUclips needs more content creators like you. Would love to hear how things are currently going with the linnstrument/blocks setup.
Love this video. I just picked up SWAM Trumpets and I am about to run downstairs and use your first setup on my Linnstrument. Then maybe off to ebay for a block. 🙂
This video is one of the driving factors that convinced me to grab a LinnStrument. I'm curious if the Y-Axis has improved with the newer surface and sensors? I'll get a Roli lightpad if needed though.
Thanks so much for this ingenious idea. Quick question, if you don't mind. Do you need to have the bottom row on the Linnstrument set to XYZ in order for the Roli Block to work?
This is awesome! Wonderfully insightful! Thank you for sharing! With the Roli Block controlling expressive functions is it possible to "reclaim" the last row and use them again as notes?
I want to buy a Linnstrument soon... I wonder whether you can use some kind of expression pedal to control bow pressure and another to control bow position... Would be possible? Thanks!!
Please make more!..and please explain how you connect linnstrument and roll block together…especially if you use ipad only..with Aum and thair Swam apps..)
@@sarmad5 Ah I get it, I thought the linnstrument had pressure detection and changed the expression with that instead of needing the block. I have a roli and use the xy axis but roli block looks more confortable, are they still for sale?
The idea of using compass is to tell which notes are where at a glance. I’m sharing what helped me memorise the notes easily. Please ignore it if you find it confusing.

Thank you. Roli block (pressure) is intuitive for expression.
you're getting more control and expression out of a VST violin instrument than I've ever seen anyone do. This is incredible!
Thank you :)
Great solution! That legato thing was my the only complaint about Linnstrument/Swam setup.
Thank you sir. Good morning and miss you lot have a nice day.....
We are waiting here!..from that side of the screen!…passionatly
Very inspiring to see how your LinnStrument setup is evolving. Looking forward to seeing future evolutions.
Thank you for the support.
I'm new to the Linnstrument, and I appreciate your extended detail about your experience and solutions.
Thank you
Thanks Sarmad! I just received my Roli Block and now I know where/how I'll use it...thanks to you!!
I’m so glad I could be of help :)
Where did you buy it?
@@blueeyedsoulman good question! I think it was sweetwater but I don’t remember!

@@gabys2 You’re welcome.
Great video. Is the Linnstrument in mpe mode?
Thank you. No, it isn’t.
wonderfull

Absolutely! You can use any midi foot expression pedal/s with it. I've used them, and they work fine.
bravo!
Thank you

I'll try my best to make one. Thank you.
Have you tryed Orba?..its midi controller- and has tilt futures!..and MPE too..)i can be interesting..and its much cheaper tham roli..)
Have you mapped the pressure per note of the Linnstrument to something else or is it left unused?
I’ve disable pressure per note, and enabled only one controller to pressure (ROLI block z axis). It allows me to play legato lines.
Are you playing through IOS or a computer?
Computer
why do you use the roli block for?
Because of the pressure response. It results in more expressive playing.
@@sarmad5 Ah I get it, I thought the linnstrument had pressure detection and changed the expression with that instead of needing the block. I have a roli and use the xy axis but roli block looks more confortable, are they still for sale?
@@hectorraus6194 They've discontinued it, but you can find used ones on reverb and ebay.
Why make this so convoluted? Why not use the letters appropriate? North South? Smh
