      Yeah, but where can I buy just D&G I'd love to mix them with Spiro mittels E&A. I reckon that would sound great.

    Thanks for another great video. My impression of the full srt was that they had a nice and balanced sound string to string that matched eachother. The mixed set were quite far from each other in timbre, but maybe with some playing (and the strings getting dirtier over time) they might become closer to each other. The olives have quite a luscious sound with quite a muted top end compared to the Galli. Great work!!

    Awesome work as always Herve. I really appreciate the time you’ve put into these experimentations. You’ve saved a bunch of bassists time and $$$!
    Curious how this set compares to the Tempera set you reviewed in an earlier video? Punch, attack, amplification, bowablility? Both seem to be cutting edge synthetic strings on the market… the Temperas being quite a bit more expensive.. thanks man!

    Great performance! Sounds great in headphones. The full set of ouverture sounds mellow and even, and I didn't think they were too bright. Not sure they blend with the olivs.

      Thank you! You are right, they are definitely not too bright. I just meant "too bright" referring to my taste and my quest for a "perfect string" (according to my preferences).

    Très intéressant, merci beaucoup pour ce test. Elles ne roulent pas sous les doigts comme les Obligato ? Question projection pour un jeu en acoustique tu en penses quoi ?

    • @stringmatrix
      @stringmatrix  Год назад

      Difficile à dire, je crois que je n'ai pas joué de gig acoustique avec ces cordes. Mais je trouve qu'elles "retiennent" moins le son que p.ex. les BSN900. Il y a donc "plus de son" avec les Ouverture. Il manque juste un peu (surtout quand amplifié) de grosses fréquences graves sur E et A, et je me demande si ça pouvait s'améliorer en les rendant plus "sombres" (donc petit changement de construction).

    • @stringmatrix
      @stringmatrix  Год назад

      Pour le roulement, non je n'ai pas eu de problème. Il me semble qu'il y avait un petit roulement, mais pas vraiment dérangeant.

      Thank you Daniel! Maybe we should create some kind of a lobby organisation to convince the string makers, because I often talk to colleagues who are also looking for the same thing I am looking for...

      Yes, please. Thicker G strings. I prefer dark strings. A synthetic version of Oliv’s would be a dream come true…

    They sound similar to the new Heritage strings. The have a little more air and fizz pizz.

      Oh yes? I don't know anything about heritage strings, I would love to try them, especially if they are similar to the set in the video but darker.

      @@stringmatrixThey are made for the Kolstein shop here in New York not to be confused with the Varicor set they have. The Heritage set was discontinued for about 2 years and recently they were reintroduced. I played them here to my cell phone: ruclips.net/video/q7H9NhHuxhw/видео.htmlsi=Qbw4ftYcbybt2KPj

    The strings have a really nice attack. I immediately headed over to your stringmatrix to compare them with the other Galli strings (BSN900) and also with Evah Pirazzi and Obligato. From the sound on your bass, the Ouverture are my favourites and might be worth trying out on my second bass at some time. Can you give some remarks sound- and tension-wise when compared to the Pirazzis Weich (E+A) and Pirazzi Slap (E+A)? Are they the "better" option together with Oliv D+G? I currently play the "John-Patitucci-Combination" which is by far the best hybrid solution I've tried.

    • @stringmatrix
      @stringmatrix  Год назад +2

      Hi Johannes, the combination with the Oliv g/d is quite nice. But, especially when amplified, the e/a ouverture don't sound as fundamental as I would want them to. I wonder if the low frequency would get some emphasis if the Ouverture got some dampening. So I am not sure what to recommend: in some way the combination with Ouverture is better, in some parameters the combination with EP is better.

    • @stringmatrix
      @stringmatrix  Год назад +1

      The tension is maybe a little lower that EP light but not als low as EP slap.

  • @DaveVergato

    How do they compare to obbligatos?

    • @stringmatrix
      @stringmatrix  3 месяца назад +1

      That's a difficult question, so I'll just describe my impression of the two. Also, I must say it's been a long time since I hat Obligato on my bass. Obligato sound huge and bouncy when played at home. But my impression was, that in a band, their sound turns out to be too smooth, so that it doesn't quite cut through and it lacks a deep interesting color. Galli Ouverture also make the bass sound big. I think they have a little more definition in a band. But I missed a little more "fundamental" on the low strings (the obligato don't have this "problem"). And I prefer the thickness of obligato d and g.
