  • The defroster vents were not working. I removed the whole dash in this video. The HVAC system, the doors and the actuators are clearly visible in this videos. The panel door was the problem. It was broken, so i replaced it.

It’s 2021. My 2016 Peterbilt stopped heating. It turned out the cold/hot blender door Actuator had a loose mounting screw.
I got access to it by simply removing the two dashboard plastic covers, behind the air brake valves. I tightened it with a T20 Torx wrench and it started working again.
I learned a lot from your video. I hope someone finds my experience helpful.

I would like to take a moment to THANK YOU for this video....you spent a lot of extra time stopping to take clips and explain in enough detail, including IMPORTANT little things like the fact the plastic panels have to come off in a certain order or you will break them..... this, for me, is the difference between a helpful video and utter frustration!! I guarantee you saved me at several hundred dollars in broken parts, and I feel confident in doing the exact same repair on my "16 579.
your pride in your truck is clearly shown, and you should be proud of that, as so many in this industry do not have that sense of ownership, and their trucks reflect that
    Again, thank you so much!!

Awesome video helped me to find exact same problem as yours with same issue with broken panel. Everything still apart and ordering parts. Makes me think this is a PACCAR design flaw and waiting to happen with every truck. Yes it was stressful but glad I did it.
    Thankyou

I just replaced the blend door actuator for the 2nd time in less than a year on my 2016 Pete 567. The problem I'm facing now is when I set the climate control to anything less than 84° I get ice cold air, when it's on 84° I get full hot air there's nothing in-between I'm trying to figure out where to start troubleshooting the issue after watching your video I'm thinking I need to get my hand in there and physically check the blend door. I've had a tech tell me there's also an update to the cab controller for this issue as well

I tell you Peter built quality has really went down the tubes seems like all 579s are having all kinds of problems. And to make matters worse you have to tear basically the whole dash out to to change a few little things that should last at least a few years.

Have the exact same problem. I appreciate the work you put in. And thank you for sharing. I think I will sit down and do the work myself as well.
My question is do you have part never for the vent door you replaced? My pin is also broken at the actuator. So I will be replacing the same part.

      The part # F31-1170-06..
      Mine it's 2016 pet 579.
I went to Peterbilt and they said you have to buy the whole thing for 1,500 because you can't find the door by self.
Them I removed the door out of my truck and went to Kenworth
They have it for 37 dollars so now my defroster it's working just fine..it took me like 7 hrs to do the job ..
