Agree. 3D spotting is so OP in BF4; it really deskills the game. Then again, so many of DICE 'updates' have nerfed the skill weapons like the SRAW that maybe DICE are intentionally dumbing down the game? I also agree about the scope glint. I hate being sniped as much as anyone, but if a player has the skill to get into a position where they can provide overwatch then good for them; I hate to see Recons prancing around with sniper rifles, they should be prone or crouched behind cover.
I strongly believe that recon should only get 3d spotting. think of how much that would help? recon is called recon for a reason so they should specialize in that.
+Christian Oskar Dont think camo would work in BF4 as it seems now. Just look at the colors from the uniforms to the terrain, you can easily spot people.
+Jimmy M RUclipsrs cut out the unlucky parts of their play sessions to keep people entertained. It woun't be fun watching Matt miss a bunch of shots cause one dude's squirming around, right?
+Tyler Wehling true but i think one game or two and he would get these clips, considering im only new to BF lv 93 and i play aggressive as fuck and still get good feeds and matimo is cra2y good and on PC
The only reason why they added the "Sniper glint" mechanic is because in BF3 you were able to go prone while in BC2 you couldn't so they felt that a prone sniper would be overpowered... So simply only have the glint active when the sniper is prone.
A ghillie suit as a recon gadget would be awesome. Some customization such as picking different colours and foliage on your ghillie suit to allow for adapting to different maps and environments would be fucking awesome
+Mountain Jew But It will be kind of pointless in the next battlefield. You know why??? The render distance is bad. If you're sniping far on a grassy map and sneaking through the grass prone, a tank could see you from the distance even if you're hiding in the grass. Because the game can't render such things from a faraway distance. That is the first problem they should fix to balance that so that a ghillie suit could be more effective. And also, what makes vehicles so OP is the fact that you can instantly go inside of a vehicle in a snap. In the next battlefield they should make animations of you going inside of any vehicle so that you have to make tactical choices on the battlefield.
Perhaps they should try making the weapon class good at first? The soldier acceleration is so damn ridiculous that it makes it way too easy to Dance Dance Revolution away from practically any sniper in the game, whether good or bad, as it is impossible to predict your movement. Tone that down and snipers (weapons) would at the very least be viable again.
+OnlyNeedJuan Gaming ^^^^^^This. I also lost track of how many times a soldier literally jumped over some of my shots. I wish the movement system would resemble Bad Company 2.
+giornalista Floating Doritos totally ruin the immersion for me. Minimap spotting could stay but 3D spotting is OP. Maybe they could include a gadget like "Tactical Goggles" that gives you the ability to see 3D spotted enemies.
They should also reduce the spotting range from 1000 meters to like 500 meters so that far away recons can't be spotted from almost everywhere on the map and bring back the marksman bonus but make it 1 point per 3 meters or something
+giornalista I agree! Giving recon only 3D spotting would make it really fulfill that role of, well, recon. It'd give me a great reason to be in my MAV spotting everyone. Plus, I feel like that's playing the objective, so I feel like spotting should be rewarded more too point-wise for recons.
This. Remove the glint and vapor trail and increase bullet velocity. Let snipers do the counter sniping instead of every other class. They meant something on the battlefield then and weren't just annoying with the garb mosquito fly by sound effect they had now.
+taiiat0 I want the BC2 M95 just for the sound it made. I remember the first time I fired that thing. *BRAKOOOM* (*echo*) *kli-chank* It's a cannon! :D Why are the sniper sounds in BF3 and 4 so weedy by comparison? The .338 Recon sounds great, like a baby M95, but the others...nothing sounds anything like it.
I predominantly play as recon, so I certainly wouldn't mind having a buff in the recon class's abilities. But out of respect for other players, I don't think change is necessary. The recon class can be devastating when taking out targets. Because of the size of the maps in Battlefield 4, I think the scope glint is necessary. If the scope glint was lowered or taken away, it would be near impossible to spot enemy snipers on the edge of the map. For those complaining about the 2 shot kills, that is what hardcore mode is for; a more realistic game mode. The MAV, Motion Sensors, TUGS', Radio Beacons and SOFLAMs are extremely useful - and with these, the recon class has superior spotting abilities. But we need ghillie suits back.
I think the biggest problem with BF4 right now is team balance. A lot of times you join a rush or conquest game in which one side is getting totally destroyed and there is just no way that side can make a comeback. Those games are painful and pointless.
+tiger d totally agree on that point, once one team is getting destroyed, people begin to ragequit and it's even more unbalanced, that's annoying (I don't know if it's a matter of map design maybe ???) it's not fun when you're in the winning team, and even worse when you're in the loosing team.
tiger d And thats supposed to be the "fixed and improved" team balancing, before the "improvement" it was ok there were some cases of unbalance but it wasnt really a trouble except sometimes a team could extremely outnumber the other one, now the game finds players of any "skill" and puts them on the same game but filters high "skilled" players in one team and low "skilled" players in the other, and the team outnumbering is still a constant thing
+tiger d i think you're right about that. I loved to PTFO in BF3 but as soon as I got BF4 i noticed this happens even more. I can totally understand why people screw around for kills instead of PTFO. Hell I even found myself UCAVing the shit outa people and C4 jeeping tanks.
+Grégoire BENATRE in bad company 2 it was totally because the fault of the stupid placed spaw points, you could easilly die spawning in some places like valparioso in the third couple of m-coms being the atacker just because of the bad spawn points...
+Ivan Vrca Amm that may be too good on pc. Most people will hit the upper chest when aiming since the chest area is the biggest so a lot of your shots will be one shots.
And I thought the "get a headshot - deny the revive" mechanic I brought up had fallen through the cracks. Thanks for bringing it up, but now I'm wondering where else the idea might've cropped up :D Good vid as always.
+Matimi0 What do you think about making the scope glint more realistic. If someone was aiming towards a light source, or an area that is well lit, you could see the scope glint. But when aiming from or at dark places it wouldn't be visible.
I like all of your ideas, but have you already considered the Hardline recon/professional? He has exclusive access to those amazing machine pistols: next to the Assault/Operator class, the Professional is the most deadly class in Hardline (I think). Although if BF5 becomes WW2 themed, this suggestion isn't really valid anymore.
A recon using PLD correctly with an engineer teammate equipped with a Javelin is an unbelievably great way to take out annoying vehicle snipers in Rush.
+Fayser 47 see that was the thing you needed skill to snipe effectively in that game and the sniper class wasn't as vulnerable as it now sniper used to be a force to be reckoned with
Mr xFussioN I figured instead of having variable zoom or something like that it would trade off. Does the player want increased visibility or a sun shade for their rifle scope?
+呂鼇舉 Actually, scopes do glint. of course, you would need to have remove the reflective coating on them to glint, but that's a given. What's really BS about scopes in BF4 is that scopes even glint when it is pitch black, and it makes you think "Where the f*** is thus glint coming from? There's no light to reflect off of."
nayhem diminishing Velocity would be fine with me. their starting velocities definitely won't be 'realistic' but that's fine it they're balanced :) and i certainly find it annoying to see different rounds being affected by gravity at different strengths. what is this space magic bullshit.
***** Was likely easier to code in than bullet drag. If everything is affected by gravity anyway, they could just make it stronger on ARs and MGs to reduce their long range potential.
nayhem bullshit. starting Velocity; every N Centimeters, lose Y% Velocity. alternatively, since Battlefield (currently) has a maximum Range for different Weapons - calculate a smooth trend from firing point to maximum Range, percentage to the end determines where on the trend it lies. both of these you could write in 5 minutes tops. the first one is a single Formula! the latter would probably be better though.
One simple thing that could improve the reconnaissance aspect of the recon class could be to allow the Target detector attachment on Snipers or bring back the Auto-spotting scope perk from Bad Company 2.
Craig Downie OMG yes. They should do that as the last thing they do with BF4. Just add another PHANTOM assignment that can get us through the other door, which has a ghillie suit hung up. And they don't give it to everyone
+Leon O'Grian bullsht anyone can? yea I don't think so you probably can't bullet drop for sht. the removal of marksman is probably just as stupid as removing spot bonus
+koffieslikkersenior omg compare the skill and time required to hit a headshot from 200 meters+ to your g3 shot then you will see how you don't know what you're saying
I hate that you have to get a head-shot almost always to get a 1 shot kill. I feel it should be mid chest up. I did some testing on my console... (X1) even if you get a neck shot you don't kill the person. Mid chest is where vital organs are and plus is a sniper. I'm sorry but even some of the lowest caliber snipers would kill you if you got shot in the chest. It's a big gun.
Exactly what I was thinking. If they just upped the damage, the snipers would probably be overpowered. How about if they made snipers way more harder to shoot, like maybe you couldn't stabilize the sniper completely without the bipod.
The Recon is among my fave classes in Battlefield and just feels good when you feel like you master it or feel like becoming an anti-sniper sniper. I can see the class is due for some changes anyway. The changes I would like to see is limit the scope glint by either having the enemy either look directly at the recon or get a scope attachment that reduces scope glare to almost none. The recon class does make sense to be the spot expert and should have quickspotting by default and maybe even target finder limited to just themselves to. Lastly, the recon probably needs a boost to spotting and aiding the team with finding enemies and vehicles.
Actually really like the idea of changing the spotting mechanic as well - if the other classes have their unique contributions and score opportunities (revives/healing, repairing, and resupplying), recons should too. It would really give incentive to that class. Really thoughtful.
About the scope glint: one possible way to reduce the problem is making the amount of glint increase with distance. I don't think it is need in medium or close ranges, as the recon is just as easy to identify as other classes, over long and extreme ranges though the player model can be reduced to a small and indistinguishable thing making the scope glint necessary and justifiable
+Zander Camargo I think the size of the scope should also effect the visibility of the scope as well so a 20x would be much more noticeable than a 6x for example.
+mre1995 also, as far as I know, the glint is much more dependent of the lens diameter than the scope length, so I'm not sure this would be realistic. I could be wrong though
***** Well for one, you're probably gonna be using it at a longer distance so it should be more noticeable. Also to offer a difference in the scopes instead of just zoom level. Plus the fact that a 20x scope is much bigger than a 6x so theoretically it would be much more visible.
It would be nice to have new and updated skins, specifically for snipers. I always love that feeling when you are hiding in the brush as a tank rolls by and doesn't notice you. But usually what foils that is when the grass and such makes an easily visible animation of flattening.
Or dice could revert the movement system to the way it was before. Soldiers carrying around rockets and ammo boxes n' shit can still jerk around as fast as the scout from TF2. Complete fuckery.
+Adam “Pyro” Ramirez Or another fun thing, if you nail one of them graenades/rockets or any other explosive device on a soldier it explodes where the guy is standing damaging the enemies in the area
+Handtuchwerfer too bad shotguns are still inconsistent. Slugs don't even kill anymore making them useless and now even if you're more skilled than the other player you lose cause he chose a field upgrade? Nah.
I love the idea of the only free spotting class, and if paired with more points for the team based actions like spotting the buff would be a great balance and be more enticing to others who were skeptical about the recon class.
Reducing the vapor trail, making scope glint scale with sight magnification (40x > 6x in terms of glint) and making 3D spotting exclusive to recon class along with upping the bonus to 50pts would make the recon class much more viable. Another mechanic dice could play around with is bullet types, trading slower projectiles, a more visible vapor trail and noisier rifle for greater damage or vice versa would create a lot more variety between the snipers.
YES, the reconclass is my favorite class, i love to lay at the edge of the map and just snipe the fuck out of everyone. But then i get fucked by someone who saw the glint of my scope and comes and run me over with his jeep
Suggested modifications for Snipers: - 1 shot 1 kill at any distance any part of the body - Guillie with IR protection (only for snipers) - Reduce qty of ammo for snipers to avoid camping. Maybe forcing them to move to get more ammo. - Limit qty of total snipers per faction. Maybe 10% to 20% max or maybe 1 or 2 snipers per flag/objective. - Improve recon tools for snipers and give them better prizes for recon functions. - Eliminate 40x scopes to force snipers to be closer to objectives/enemy.
An Idea I like, which could be useful on large maps, is the ability for a sniper/recon to carry a heavy sniper rifle. these heavy sniper rifles would slow down the movement speed of the player, and it would be necessary to hinder the ability to run around with these rifles in some way. perhaps by making them near impossible to aim unless you are using a bipod, and perhaps even then make fast, large movements affect the aim enough to make snap movements impossible to pull off without affecting the accuracy. Yes, I am one of those people who likes lying down with a sniper rifle a kilometer away from the action. Just a thought, no idea how this would work out in terms of game balance, but it could be worth experimenting on.
I think the idea of giving the recon the ability to spot is great! One of their gadgets could be a binocular that can zoom into targets from range. To make the recon class more effective at close range, they should have the ability to one shot someone in the chest within 100m. The scope glint should only be visible within around 100-150m
equipment and vehicles from further distances. Motion Sensor Grenades Highlight Enemies Through Solid Objects. Snipers can hold there breath longer under water. 3. AirStrike and Ordinance Disposal Field Upgrade: PLDs can call in Air Strikes, MAVS can destroy enemy equipment, Suavs can paint enemy vehicles and Equipment. PLDs can call in Two Airstrikes. MAVS carry a two magazine. Suavs can paint two enemy vehicles and equipment at a time. TUGs can explosively damage enemies when detected close to the tugs. PLD AirStrikes cover a Higher Blast Radius. These are some of the Field Upgrades I would like to see in the next Battle Field.
If snipers had a spotting scope gadget that would spot for a longer amount of time, and give more points to the spotter if the spotted enemy is killed, that could get more snipers helping to win a round. You could get kills with the spotter's scope that would get you unlocks that improve them or special camos for them.
The glint adds to injury on the cs5 and suppressor attachment. Makes it useless even though it could have the potential to silently wipe out squads (including the spotting system, great video matimio
I haven't played BF4 for a long time so I don't know if they have already implemented what I am about to say. I say that they don't take away scope glint but if your sniper isn't touched by the sun it doesn't give off a glint. That way if say you are in a building then you won't give off scope glint. And I like your idea about spotting in for snipers that would add for more team play. Thank you.
I personally think using the recon class correctly requires the most skill. The recon's main ability is gathering intel but what you do with the information is still entirely up to the soldier. A medic will heal you, a support can supply you with bullets, but only a recon will warn you of that enemy around the corner.
I strongly agree with getting rid of or at least dimming the glint of a sniper. In bf3 where there was no sniper glint if you were being shot at by a sniper you had to either adapt and learn what to look for when trying to spot a sniper. I mainly play in the sniper class and i miss the challenge of the good old sniper vs sniper shootouts where you had to peak out every few seconds and search the horizon looking for the person who is trying to kill you.
Hey Matt I live your idea for the recon class. I have an idea to step up the sniper class more distinguished even more. What if we also increased their anti gadget capabilities? The MAV can destroy things like c4 and claymores, so maybe give them a gadget that can disable gadgets like a laser rifle that's charges and then disables placed explosives and gashed, but has a visible beam when fired at the target. And then maybe somethings like the Blackhat from CoD which could disable things from closer ranges? It seems like this would incorporate more teamwork and the viability for having a recon in the team so they can also silently pick off targets and gadgets from a distance. Great video and I hope you think about this suggestion
I wish they could somehow figure out how to turn the glints on/off depending on if a sniper is facing towards a light source, such as the sun. It would force snipers to think of where they're situated and to make a choice: the best possible line of sight on an objective but having the sun directly aiming at you, or more cover with less of an open range.
I feel like one of the sniper's attachments should be a honeycomb, which would get rid of or lessen the sniper glint. This way the sniper might have to give up a variable zoom/ or laser. I do agree that it would be a great idea that the recon class would be the only one to 3D spot enemy players.
the recon class is actually really helpful because of the spawn beacon especially in a game mode like rush and it doesn't need to be buffed because then you'll a bunch of snipers who don't know what their doing
I think scope glint should increase proportionally with distance. So if a sniper is playing aggressively, they don't get spotted immediately and snipers who camp 1km out are seen easily but most other people can't do anything since they're so far out.
I really like the idea of only snipers having the ability to 3d spot. I think it should be something to the effect of only 1 or 2 players can be spotted by a single sniper. And the opposing players have to stay in the snipers reticle to keep spotted, otherwise the the red Dorito would fade off your teammates huds.
i love the idea of giving the spotting mechanic unique to the recon class. Or limit the range of spotting the enemies to 10 or so meters for the other classes.
I like the head shot idea. I think it would help even out the medics from just spamming revives all day long on teammates around corner until finally they win the fire fight. Plus if you get shot in the head from a bolt action rifle your more likely dead any how. Great idea Matimi0!
I think that it could be interesting to unlock a no glint scope through progression. Also, I like the idea of the no revive - headshot because it is more of a balancing element, and as for the recon only spotting, I don't necessarily like that idea on the surface. what if a target/soldier that was tagged by a recon class permanently stays tagged until they die for good? That way players of the recon class would be encouraged to spot for their team, but it would still leave a balance that doesn't make the class overpowered.
Agree 300% + tax. If recon was the only one that could 3D spot then you solve the "triangle-shooter simulator" problems admirably, while simultaneously giving the Recon a fitting ability that fits the class' role. Been saying this for years now. Great vid, Mat.
I agree with matimo that spotting could only go to them, that would make them very useful. And i agree that the glint could be toned down, but there has to be other limiting factors to snipers. The glint mechanic is the one feature that balances them out. I think personally making the bolt action rifle's bulkier would solve that problem, so recons cant run around with a 1X sight and slaughter people. And yes that problem is mainly in Hardcore but you have to account for both regular and hardcore. Making the rifles bulkier would also make them more like a real sniper, where you set up somewhere and actually snipe. Also adding a slower scope sighting time could work as well, but with no glint the recon would still remain balanced, cause then it holds more of a true recon sniper role than what it is currently. Let them stay a one-shot kill overall, but with the extra bulkiness and slower sighting times, it would balance out. OR you could even limit the number of recons per team in a game to limit the spam, but that is a more controversial change that would require alot of thought in how to implement it.
an idea for the spawn beacons: if they keep commander mode in BF5 for whatever reason, make being able to open spawn beacons up to the entire team an asset to buy. That, or be able to link spawn beacons to 1 or 2 other squads for a certain duration.
I believe the recon kit can be upgraded by allowing small arms to deal damage to light armor vehicles, but giving snipers disabling if a vehicle is shot in a crucial point. It would be nice if rifles should get a higher (and more realistic) bullet velocity along with more 1 shot areas up close for the higher caliber rifles.
About the reflection of the scope I think it should only be visible if the sniper is outdoor against the sun or something like that, because in total darkness there is no way a scope would make that reflection
I do like the snipers spotting only and bolt action rifle headshots are unrevivable, maybe just those two though. That would definitely change the flow of the game in a way I would like
making recon the only class that can spot seems like an awesome idea. Maybe make it possible to have squad members point out a location like in Rainbow 6 siege to eachother, but this wouldn't be visible for other squads and wouldn't be like the spotting mechanic. I think this idea would make recon more useful and more recon-ish.
I like your idea of only snipers spotting. I also think that they should give the support the medic bag back like in Bad Company 2 to lower the power of the assault class who is used way too much, it would give more class diversity.
One of my favorite things to do is play actual Recon. Spotting and using Laser Designator to light targets. Sadly it is rare to get someone else on the team to hit your painted targets.
Recons can auto spot which a long range scope. Recons who spot get 50 for spotting and another 50 if the spot is killed. Recons can't sprint with sniper rifle. Maybe give them the UAV spotting ability from BF2.
it would be nice to balance out the scope glare with a glare hider (with smaller field of view when ads) and sniper vapor trail with a muzzle attachment that takes off the vapor trail but you still have the scope glare. you could only choose one of these attachments. no glare is useful against numerous targets but eventually they will find you. no vapor trail is useful for single targets but enemies looking at your general direction will see you
I would rejoice if they'd severely reduce the effects of suppression on a bipoded sniper. It is bloody ridiculous when I'm prone, got my bipod deployed, and when someone tries to countersnipe me, they miss, trigger the effect, and I can't even line up the sight on his torso. I think that snipers (or anything with a deployed bipod) shouldn't have such a hefty accuracy penalty when suppressed. It makes no sense that there's a large amount of sway when aiming a braced gun.
I agree about the Recon/Professional class setup. I don't like how(going by Hardline)playing as the Enforcer or the others and then helping people, but as soon as I switch to Professional I feel EXTREMELY guilty because I love snipers but I love reviving and being a team player.
Bring back sniping from Bc2 Remove scope glint, bullet/wapor trail is enough for the player who's getting attack to know from where he's getting attacked from, bring back motionballs and throwable c4 to help recons to play more aggressive Make recons spots last longer
Sniper glint - only for high magnification sights Vapor trail - for high speed bullets Current bullet arc - for normal speed bullets Extra damage - slow, big bullets, but with high mass - high drop arc, for closer distances
How to make the Recon class better: 1. Ditch scope glint. If someone takes the time to get into an advantageous position to provide overwatch and reconnaissance, don't penalize them with an artificial sun taped to their scope. They earned that concealment. 2. Increase the muzzle velocity. 3. Make headshots from sniper rifles render enemies un-revivable.
I think scope glint should be based on light and shade. If you can find a place to lay down in the shade then no (or less) scope glint. If you are out in the open in the sun then lots of scope glint.
I really love your idea for spotting, would be a 2 in 1 imo. It'll also reduce the crazy amount of 3D spotting
Agree. 3D spotting is so OP in BF4; it really deskills the game. Then again, so many of DICE 'updates' have nerfed the skill weapons like the SRAW that maybe DICE are intentionally dumbing down the game? I also agree about the scope glint. +MHRDarkman I'm sure they would love to do that but it only gets them killed over and over again
+MHRDarkman Whats 3D spotting?
+adza botchway the Doritos
What about having a limited spot distance whilst recons have unlimited spot distance because of the MAV?
I miss your BF4 videos, upload them more if you can :)
I would honestly love to see more Rainbow six
Ye bring back BF4 and maybe Hardline
Me too, BF4 is awesome! But the R6 Siege videos are really good too
+CIANO999 CIANO999 hahahahhhahaha
we got bf4 videos for 2 years now he needs to upload diffrent content
I like the spot idea, maybe you just put a cap on the distance a non-recon player can spot, 100 meters? Farther than that the recon can spot.
+TKE644 DICE should already just disable the spotting mechanic in the night maps IMO
+Voltpatch play hardcore like everybody do
عبدالعزيز الحجيلي I am a hardcore player XD
hardcore fucking sucks
+Mr Nice no. U suck
I strongly believe that recon should only get 3d spotting. think of how much that would help? recon is called recon for a reason so they should specialize in that.
Take the carbines and shotguns away first
***** I want them to keep the DMRs on support too, at least that. I love them
Ryan Spalding idk I hate them being in CQB with a full auto.
soratsu495 I guess, I mean you can run out of ammo for those dmrs rather quickly.
+Ryan Spalding 3D spotting shouldnt even be in the game. Play hardcore you disgusting peasant!
Wanna make recons get up close?
Don't add a no skill field upgrade that prevents one shot kills within a one shot range. Simple as that.
SOMEONE THAT UNDERSTANDS
+Grant Winburn actually that is one of the things I liked about hardline having magnum rounds made me up close and personal type of sniper
+Grant Winburn instead of changing defensive perk give recon class ammunition like high velocity for long range magnum ammo for close range
+Eli Nelson haha I just took a guess at the distance but thanks for the clarification
+Grant Winburn make it a higher tier perk right now theres no reason to pick another perk tree unless your a mechanic!
i would love to see a ghillie suit for the recons only
I started the BF series with BF3 so I don't know what's that suit could you explain please?
+Christian Oskar Dont think camo would work in BF4 as it seems now. Just look at the colors from the uniforms to the terrain, you can easily spot people.
Nicklas Hoelgaard i mean for battlefield 5
yeah. there needs to be an option for it though becuase you don't wanna wear one in the city
+Christian Funk (TotallyNotChris) Thank you :D
How come when I snipe, people don't stand stand still as much as they did in this vid?
+Jimmy M RUclips luck :/
+Jimmy M RUclipsrs cut out the unlucky parts of their play sessions to keep people entertained. It woun't be fun watching Matt miss a bunch of shots cause one dude's squirming around, right?
You have to realize it probably took him 2+ hours of gameplay to get 8 minutes of clips. Editing works wonders
I'm jumping and running left and right like crazy when i hear a sniper shot that missed me,trying to get to the next building
I don't think many people snipe from the prone position though. Most snipers I go against are standing or sidestepping.
pronning while sniping just makes your head an easier target
+Adi Gačić Never saw that before
+Nicklas Hoelgaard Prone sniper=easy kill for every other sniper
+Krusty Komedy Klassic That's why they should implement ghillie suits again
A ghillie suit as a recon gadget would be awesome. Some customization such as picking different colours and foliage on your ghillie suit to allow for adapting to different maps and environments would be fucking awesome
+Mountain Jew this
Exactly!!
+Mountain Jew and maybe, that you can't (or harder) get spotted with a ghillie suit! :D
***** If cod4 could do it, so could dice.
+tonyfruits Or when they hear the bullet wiz by their head and now they are doing the jump strafing bunny hop... GTFO of here with that crap.
Don't miss. 68.79% m98b accuracy and over 6,000 kills
+Nelson Griggs This. Just get good at aiming.
I realy love this idea. I hate 3D spoting but this would give it tactical value. Great idea Matimi0!
+giornalista i know, especially when you're hiding from a tank in the grass and the player just spams q and instantly sees where you are
+giornalista Floating Doritos totally ruin the immersion for me.
I hope DICE are watching your vids Mat :D

i think the 2 hit kill of the snipers is whats holding them back. the 1 hit kill range should be increased by a lot.
Like in bf hardline?Ayyyy Lmao
Needs more Mountain Dew and Dorritos.
Charlie WithaQ and dank weed bombs that get you high and blur your vision
agreed
+David Villadangos No like in CSGO, the most competitive FPS out there.
I want the recon class to be like it was in Bad Company 2 period.
+Coolnessfactor
i want my fuckin' M95 back. before it was 'buffed'. perfect Sniper Rifle.
*BRAKOOOM* (*echo*) *kli-chank*
It's a cannon! :D Why are the sniper sounds in BF3 and 4 so weedy by comparison? The .338 Recon sounds great, like a baby M95, but the others...nothing sounds anything like it.
Charlie Tuong (and because real guns don't sound like that)
but Vidjya Games are rule of cool so doesn't bother me.
+sib mackern The only thing i wouldnt mind would be No revive on a sniper headshot, Higher bulletspeed and No killcam showing where you are
Ghost Stinger I agree on the revive point.
I agree with the ghillies
I think the biggest problem with BF4 right now is team balance. A lot of times you join a rush or conquest game in which one side is getting totally destroyed and there is just no way that side can make a comeback. Those games are painful and pointless.
+tiger d totally agree on that point, once one team is getting destroyed, people begin to ragequit and it's even more unbalanced, that's annoying (I don't know if it's a matter of map design maybe ???) it's not fun when you're in the winning team, and even worse when you're in the loosing team.
+ fucking 1
tiger d And thats supposed to be the "fixed and improved" team balancing, before the "improvement" it was ok there were some cases of unbalance but it wasnt really a trouble except sometimes a team could extremely outnumber the other one, now the game finds players of any "skill" and puts them on the same game but filters high "skilled" players in one team and low "skilled" players in the other, and the team outnumbering is still a constant thing
+Grégoire BENATRE in bad company 2 it was totally because the fault of the stupid placed spaw points, you could easilly die spawning in some places like valparioso in the third couple of m-coms being the atacker just because of the bad spawn points...
maybe they could have it so that you could only see the glint if you are 150m+ away from the sniper?
great suggestion great username
I would bump it to 300. Or even take away glint on the 6,7,and 8x scopes and keep glint on 20x and 40x
+Used Tampons Smell Lovely That was exactly what I was going to recommend.
Or anytime you hold the stick to steady your shot, there is glint, so you can at least aquire your target before giving yourself away.
+Gravelord Nito lol what is so good about my username?
i have another suggestion if u hit an enemy in the upper chest or at the heart area(with snipers) it should be a 1 shot kill
because on consoles is very hard to go for headshots
+Ivan Vrca That would be really messed up on PC, but great on consoles
+Marth Shepard yeah agree about the PC part maybe they can do it for consoles only:/
+Marth Shepard yeah agree about the PC part maybe they can do it for consoles only:/
+Ivan Vrca Amm that may be too good on pc. Most people will hit the upper chest when aiming since the chest area is the biggest so a lot of your shots will be one shots.
And I thought the "get a headshot - deny the revive" mechanic I brought up had fallen through the cracks. Thanks for bringing it up, but now I'm wondering where else the idea might've cropped up :D
Good vid as always.
love the variety of content on this channel
Love the recon is the only 3D spotter idea. It is similar to a more tactical role that you might see properly fulfilled in a game like ARMA.
+Matimi0 What do you think about making the scope glint more realistic. If someone was aiming towards a light source, or an area that is well lit, you could see the scope glint. But when aiming from or at dark places it wouldn't be visible.
This.
This
+Ned Gleed Makes sense.
+Awppenheimer What about night zavod? Invisible snipers?
***** Yea but I think they will make night maps considering how much the community liked them in bf4.
As a recon player i m just hoping for one thing : NO MORE DEFENSIVE PERK so we can have some consistancy in close range combat
TheNic03xd
yeah,i LOVE agressive sniping....GOL Magnum with Acog !
At least put armor at level 4
Dunno,im always using the defensive perk,no matter what class
So glad others agree.
Problem is:Sniper rifle is never meant to be used in cab.
Bad company 2 sniping was amazing.
agreed
Yeah but the bolt movement was slow
+Fayser 47 see that was the thing you needed skill to snipe effectively in that game and the sniper class wasn't as vulnerable as it now sniper used to be a force to be reckoned with
Best in the franchise in my opinion!
+Awais Ali Right. As soon as you unlocked the 50 cal it was game over lol.
do you think that the suppressors for sniper rifles should'nt have that much of a negative effect?
+Teh Frosty They should
Hork3r I don't know a lot about guns cause I ain't no merican (but if you have questions about boomerangs, I am your man), but yeah what ever you say.
Mr xFussioN
I'm Finnish but heading to the Army soon, trying to get into the sniper training :)
Hork3r Nicee. I always thought if I joined the army (which I probs wont) I would want to be a sniper.
+Hork3r Suppressors can give an increase in velocity as well due to the added length.
I hope Battlefield 5 will be good.

I actually like the spotting idea. Great vid Mat, keep it up!
please, bring back the ghillie suit and maybe have a scope attachment that eliminates glint from the scope.
Mr xFussioN I figured instead of having variable zoom or something like that it would trade off. Does the player want increased visibility or a sun shade for their rifle scope?
William H Yeah, that is actually great
+William H They would probably slot it with bipod and straight pull bolt.
True.Sniper glint don't make sense in real life. Why?Scopes got anti reflective coating on them
+呂鼇舉
Actually, scopes do glint. of course, you would need to have remove the reflective coating on them to glint, but that's a given.
What's really BS about scopes in BF4 is that scopes even glint when it is pitch black, and it makes you think "Where the f*** is thus glint coming from? There's no light to reflect off of."
They should really increase bullet velocity for sniper rifles. I just hate leading targets about 3 fucking meters irs ridiculous and unrealistic
Nazwabezcyfer It gives a higher skill ceiling to these weapons. You can play with the jng or you could also get better.
Agree, it would be between 800 at least and maybe 980 for some rifles
nayhem diminishing Velocity would be fine with me.
their starting velocities definitely won't be 'realistic' but that's fine it they're balanced :)
and i certainly find it annoying to see different rounds being affected by gravity at different strengths.
what is this space magic bullshit.
*****
Was likely easier to code in than bullet drag.

+Gavin Colville as long as you know that the enemy doens't have armor, you can do that easily with any BA
One simple thing that could improve the reconnaissance aspect of the recon class could be to allow the Target detector attachment on Snipers or bring back the Auto-spotting scope perk from Bad Company 2.
Your opinion about spot is exactly the kind of thing i wish to see in BF5
I think there should be an assignment that's really hard but the reward is a ghille suit
+TECK Zren Yes
+TECK Zren That should have been the Phantom assignment! It seems more appropriate then a bow...
Craig Downie OMG yes. They should do that as the last thing they do with BF4. Just add another PHANTOM assignment that can get us through the other door, which has a ghillie suit hung up. And they don't give it to everyone
Would be cool
+TECK Zren Assignment: Play the objective/capture 100 flags.
I really want the marksman bonus back.
YESSSSSSS SPREAD THE MOVEMENT
The Detonator56
This is an objective game, you want points then play the objective.
The Detonator56 yes anyone. Once you get a certain distance away from the object it doesn't matter... 200 or 2000 your still so far your value is meh.
It's a big gun.
true
This is why I never play anything other than hardcore damage servers
Exactly what I was thinking. If they just upped the damage, the snipers would probably be overpowered. How about if they made snipers way more harder to shoot, like maybe you couldn't stabilize the sniper completely without the bipod.
+WiggleWithIt Reality ≠ Videogames
Selfs
Remember BF tries to be Realistic. So it doesn't matter that it's a video game. They claim to be the most realistic.
Just bring back the Bad Company 2 recon with some tweaks and DONE. No glint no trail and ghilie suit + mortar strike.
My thought is basic. Take the class system of Battlefield 2. Drag and drop. Bam.
I agree
At least make it a server option.
yess
About the scope glint: one possible way to reduce the problem is making the amount of glint increase with distance. I don't think it is need in medium or close ranges, as the recon is just as easy to identify as other classes, over long and extreme ranges though the player model can be reduced to a small and indistinguishable thing making the scope glint necessary and justifiable
+Zander Camargo I think the size of the scope should also effect the visibility of the scope as well so a 20x would be much more noticeable than a 6x for example.
+mre1995 ok, but why do this?
+mre1995 also, as far as I know, the glint is much more dependent of the lens diameter than the scope length, so I'm not sure this would be realistic. I could be wrong though
***** Well for one, you're probably gonna be using it at a longer distance so it should be more noticeable. Also to offer a difference in the scopes instead of just zoom level. Plus the fact that a 20x scope is much bigger than a 6x so theoretically it would be much more visible.
mre1995 It actually is, compare the 6x and the 40x, the difference is insane
You're my go to channel for Battlefield vids lol
Add ghillie suits!!!!
yeees
+iiApexPlayz OMG plzzz DICE
Remove the defensive perk
If you Want a 1 shot in cqb then play with shotguns, thats what they are Designed for.
I want my jets back, fuck these bf4 jets...I WANT MY FA 18 AND FLANKER!!!!
+Carl jets where the most skillful thing in a video game ever the better player always won in a 1v1 dogfight
+nepson13 I know, I was that guy haha, the one they called a no lifer and a shitbucket after I shot them down 10 times in a row.

+Carl private server caspian or kharg frogfoot oh man jizz dripping down my pants right now
YES, the reconclass is my favorite class, i love to lay at the edge of the map and just snipe the fuck out of everyone. But then i get fucked by someone who saw the glint of my scope and comes and run me over with his jeep
You deserve it
+ Mitchell ball youre my least favorite type of player
+iggysface lol sorry mate see you on the battlefield when I snipe you across the map ;)
2 hits in the chest with any sniper is ballshit so why is it in BF4. snipers are too weak at the moment i think.

One hit to the chest would be broken in a game like BF.

Raspica Blue Gaming
I agree.
I totally thought you were going to talk about gun balance and feel for the sniper, but I was pleasantly surprised!
I love the spotting idea, sounds amazing!
Suggested modifications for Snipers:
- 1 shot 1 kill at any distance any part of the body
- Guillie with IR protection (only for snipers)
- Reduce qty of ammo for snipers to avoid camping.
Thank you.
I think that the recon being the only class able to spot is an amazing idea, it would give the sniper a strong team based ability
I like the recon spotting only idea, they're called recon for a reason.
So if a sniper is playing aggressively, they don't get spotted immediately and snipers who camp 1km out are seen easily but most other people can't do anything since they're so far out.
the headshot idea is a great idea and should definitely be implemented
I 100% agree with you. Although, i DO believe carbines and designated marksmen rifles should have the target detector, maybe limit it to 200m.
This actually a really good Idea because when I play a snipe I feel like I don't give much support to my team.
I think the spotting and revive things would be an amazing addition to the game
an idea for the spawn beacons: if they keep commander mode in BF5 for whatever reason, make being able to open spawn beacons up to the entire team an asset to buy. That, or be able to link spawn beacons to 1 or 2 other squads for a certain duration.
I believe the recon kit can be upgraded by allowing small arms to deal damage to light armor vehicles, but giving snipers disabling if a vehicle is shot in a crucial point. It would be nice if rifles should get a higher (and more realistic) bullet velocity along with more 1 shot areas up close for the higher caliber rifles.
they could add a flashkill accessory for the scopes that would decrease the glare, but would take the place of other attachments like a rangefinder.
About the reflection of the scope I think it should only be visible if the sniper is outdoor against the sun or something like that, because in total darkness there is no way a scope would make that reflection
I do like the snipers spotting only and bolt action rifle headshots are unrevivable, maybe just those two though. That would definitely change the flow of the game in a way I would like
I really like the idea of Recons being the only class that can 3D spot, might make them useful finally
making recon the only class that can spot seems like an awesome idea.
I also think that they should give the support the medic bag back like in Bad Company 2 to lower the power of the assault class who is used way too much, it would give more class diversity.
solid ideas, i agree with matimio on everything
One of my favorite things to do is play actual Recon. Spotting and using Laser Designator to light targets. Sadly it is rare to get someone else on the team to hit your painted targets.
5:36 that scope glitch is badass
I think snipers should get much more love, great vid and glad of the things u pointed out
Recons can auto spot which a long range scope.
Bring back sniping from Bc2
Remove scope glint, bullet/wapor trail is enough for the player who's getting attack to know from where he's getting attacked from, bring back motionballs and throwable c4 to help recons to play more aggressive
Make recons spots last longer
Sniper glint - only for high magnification sights
Vapor trail - for high speed bullets
Current bullet arc - for normal speed bullets
Extra damage - slow, big bullets, but with high mass - high drop arc, for closer distances
How to make the Recon class better:
