Awsome Scott Scale build there Scotty, thanks for sharing old chap.
Scotty your shop is looking dialed! Great video.
Thank you 🙏
weight?
Scotty amazing video! One question what internal measurement do the rims have and what width of tires do you have? Thx!!! :)
Awesome cool bike build 🤘👍
Thank you 🙏
Nice job ❤
Beautiful build, but a real racing xc must have the stem without spacers under😁
Well the dude is 189cm or 6’2. I wouldn’t want him to break is back for the sake of following the “trend” As for me being 167cm or 5.5ft I have to have it extra slammed to get the right riding position sometimes having to spend extra $$$ on awkward looking stem & handlebar looking like Anton Cooper’s race bikes
The stem is not good to this machine
Next (suggested) workshop tool - lapel mic. 🙂
Got one 🫠🤦♂️ should’ve used it, now I know - first video in this shop setup
Super nice bike 😊👍🏻👍🏻
🙏
Bloody brilliant.
🙌
Brilliant build but my question is you used a tork rench can I ask what one you used
Using Unior Tools digital one!
Awesome
Nice 👍 bro …
It went together easily in less than an hour. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Make sure the front fork is forward or the pedals will hit the front tire. Tires are both a little soft so it needs air before I ride it. The rear wheel didn't come with a clamp regular bolts hold it on. The front had the clamp. No scratches out of box. Rims are a little off with a slight wobble. They could have spent more time with the spoke tool fixing the run out. So far out of the box I'm happy with it. I did replace the pedals with a nice aftermarket set. After riding it a bit my A$$ is a bit sore so I ordered another seat. Overall I'm nearly 60 and didn't ride a bike in 30 years. I like my new 29" Schwinn. It will be used for casual rides with my friend.
FIRE!
WANT!
It’s a rig right!
nice bike hoe much the wight?
You should put the Fraiser bar instead
Suspension 100mm or 120mm?
Just built 8.4kg XC bike using 2022 Scott Scale 940 frame I picked up cheap. Now I’m getting an itch to do it again on this new frame. I’m sure I’ll be able to hit sub 8kg. But of course those frames are not gonna come cheap…
same but picked up a 2017 rc carbon frame cheap (it was new)... full xtr, fox factory forks, dt swiss 240 hubs (carbon rims)... and probably about $3k to build. mine is 8.9kg tho but super happy with it and love the geo of this version. I'm sure the 2023 model is great too.
Is the original headset coming with the frame? The stem is scott or an other brand?
This is the original headset. I altered the cover plate to fit over my chosen stem from PRO, the Tharsis XC!
how di you mount that crankset with 52mm chainline on this frame?
I didn’t, I have a 55mm crankset!
@@ScottyLaughland but the 9120 crank has 52...
I have the same frame, and the 9100 won't fit...I'm planning to purchase the 9125. But It has a massive Q factor
A este cuadro lo suyo sería Sram inalambrico.
Maximum chainring?
Could you please give me the detail info of Stems and Bar? I want to order them for my bike. Hope to recieve your feedback soon. Thank you.
Hi there!
I’m running the Tharsis XC 3 Five bar and stem combo. You can check all the specs on PRO’s website.
The bar I choose for this build is the Flat Carbon Bar and the stem is 80mm in length!
Hope that helps!
Rígida al palco
I’d have to have a dropper
Please make a vid of you testing it
Come May sometime!
I just don't like how the headset spacers look
They look like a piece of hacked junk for me. But that is maybe personal preference
I just don't like having no visual separation between functional groups, I prefer external cable routing visually, I think it gives the bike a much more minimalist look
Fair enough, I personally like this clean aesthetic of the bike but understand why others don’t!
I agree, that stem with these spacers looks terrible. It's a shame that now it's trendy, and most companies do that.
Hey Scotty do you know if this frame will accept 4p caliper???
I mean it will but I don’t think you’d want to fit one to it more designed for a 2 piston caliper!
@@ScottyLaughland thanks for the reply. The scale manual is difficult to read. And the folks here at Scott USA are giving me mixed answers. Would be using it for bikepacking so kinda want a 4p brake or at least the option.
XTR💪💪💪💪
The best 🔥🔥🔥
I wonder where all his bikes years before, are they for sale?
I had some bikes stolen this year unfortunately!
Geil!!!
🙌
Not having a proper mic in this video is such a shame for an otherwise epic build video.
I'm sorry - I even had a lav mic in my bag! Next time!!
This hub is a shimano XTR microspline? Is not silence sistem? It is sound 🤔🤔🤔
They changed things up, it's not silent anymore!
Where i Can buy ???? Any Page ?
Md uma dessa bike para min
what series frame
Weight?
For that build you don’t need an SL frame
Whats the weight of it?
maybe 9.3kg
very heavy weight
9.1kg
i need this bike but im broke
😔
Need a microphone Scotty.
What stem is that?
PRO Tharsis 35 XC
@@ScottyLaughland thank you I’ll take a look, what length do you run on that bike, I’m moving to a more xc bike from a trail bike as I prefer that type of riding, new to mtb, don’t like the short 35mm stem now what would be a good range to try when i buy a more xc focused bike thanks
Real weight ? ⚖️
8.74kg
Nice 👍👍 🤩 a kom killer 👍👍👍
The cables going through the headset like that is super ugly. I much prefer the downtube entry design. Other than that it looks pretty good.
Fair enough! Get they’re not to everyone’s taste but they do make for a clean setup!!
@@ScottyLaughland I quite like the way Dangerholm has implemented it to through the bar and stem on his builds
9.1kg is too much for SL frame... Have 2018 model rc sl L size with Xx1 and renegate tires 8.5kg...8.2 with furious fred (tubo inners)
more to a bikes capabilities than weight. is your 2018 fully stock? I'm sure you can make the 2023 lighter and sell some of the parts it comes with... but I bet some of the heavier parts can make up for the weight with performance. I noticed a huge diff with my 2.25 tires vs 2.4's... and that alone has a significant weight penalty but worth it on most trails by me.
It's 100 not 120 travel.
I believe it can take between 100 and 120mm!
what a way to waste a frame this light putting all shimano
Shame not to have Sram XX1 AXS on it, hell of bike. I’m envious.
@@peterfreeman3317 XX1 AXS is a boat anchor compared to XTR. Yeah I understand the cool factor but XTR 45t 12 speed derailleur weighs well below 240g & has ability to climb 50t no problem.
@@slimjim4ever but with AXS…perfect shifting and no wires. It’s incredible, true wireless shifting. What’s better…a Benz or BMW? Who cares they are both killer!
@@peterfreeman3317 my personal favorite is good ol Shimano XTR M9000 11 speed paired with either E Thirteen Helix 9-46t or Leonardi General Lee 9-45t cassette. Still much better and simpler than any Eagle system I’ve used including AXS. Perfect shifting every time & rarely needs attention. Honestly I didn’t find AXS to be that appealing therefore to me it’s just a unnecessary luxury but that’s just me. IMHO XTR M9000 is like the classic 1988 BMW M3
Shimano stuff is actually much lighter than most Sram except for the crankset. My personal favorite is Shimano M9000 11 speed shifter/derailleur paired with M9100 brakeset. As for the Crankset I would have gone with E Thirteen XCX if you’re mainly trying to shed grams
scott hasn’t move on from press fit
When done proper it is beter and lighter
@@wish-lt1zh people dont seem to understand that pressfit only fails when manufactures are unable to follow accurate size standards.
Wider bottom bracket area with press fit equals greater frame stiffness as well as less weight, seems like the perfect solution for a XC race weapon.
Press fits so easy, get the right removal and installation tools and it’s a doddle. Having insets for a thread Keane you have to bond in another section and is heavier - this is a much simpler and lighter construction.
Hate that they made basically a trail hardtail and not an XC/Marathon one. They already have Spark for those purposes. Too slack head angle imo, too long reach, and even 120mm fork? Also proprietary cable routing with proprietary stem/headset, and even BB is not back to safer/more reliable threaded variant? No thanks. Other than clearance for 2.4 tires old Scale is directly better bike imo. Now only Specialized Epic, Mondraker Podium and Canyon Exceed make good XC/Marathon bikes
Scott has different versions from the scale. I think it was the ultimate version which is not so slack and more for race people. But… also a lot more expansive… I can feel your pain. I also wanted a scale but the entry level frames are just for beginners ?😢😅
I was on the Scott website and looks like they have only one frame design fits all this year.
Made for downcountry category, maybe?
@@yengsabio5315 I think these are made for XC, they're designed in partnership with the SCOTT World Cup team!
@@ScottyLaughland Or, modern XC vs prior XC mtbs.
