Microsoft Plus! Digital Media Edition is very cool. Glad you worked on this video to celebrate its 20th anniversary! Analog Recorder is great, but it does have limitations. Photo Story is interesting, and so are the Windows Movie Maker 2 add-ons. Nice job!
@@prebenjaeger Aero was great! but it feels more like...minerals. hard, glossy, almost cold. almost clinical. not something to "live" with. still miles better than the current flat design tho.
I love your videos, there's always such a calm tone, but sometimes you're talking calmly about Movie Maker and sometimes you're slowly going insane because things keep Going Wrong.
MJD did you missed the Windows 95 Plus! for kids?Microsoft published two plus! pack for Windows 95 actually. And this Plus! pack's all programs were included in Windows XP Media Center Edition which MJD didn't mentioned. I think the Vista Ultimate Extras was the successor of the Plus! pack.
its increidble to see software that was once the neck plus ultra in its field being so seemingly weak comperated to today's standard running in its native environment, and see how it works just like it worked then and be as usefull as it was back then even if its been left behind by most to collect dust
If you're a fan of the Alien franchise, quadrilogy is definitely a word! And i really miss the Win98 / XP days of figuring out cool and aggravating ways to personalize your computer!
I love the Dancers, The Tango is sensual. Another fave is Audio Converter. All these came inbuilt with my Dell Media laptop installed with XP Media Centre. I didn't have the Analog Recorder though :(
Seeing the recorder "Powered by CoolEdit Technology" sent me back to a time when it _wasn't_ acquired by Adobe and subsequently bloated to all heck. XD
I know how that feels. I use my subs feed to watch nearly everything, but with over 500 subs I'm two weeks behind, and of course nearly isn't all, so the recommendations should probably be hidden behind a brick wall.
I sold computers and software in the late 90's early 2000's and a lot of time they would sell boxed software that had nothing inside but a disk in a case of sleeve, so that the box would have a larger presence on the shelves to catch people's eye, then when the software price was reduced, they would recall the remaining items, un-box them and sell them for cheaper....
My dad told me the horror story that he got a computer virus when he brought the plus product years ago, I think it was the 95 plus edition as he had a windows 95 machine back around in 1995! A much disappointment for him as he wasted all his money on a software later to find out it was infected after installation!
when i tried with vmware to try plus digital media (i used an iso file) i got an error that said like needing windows xp to be installed the os i used to try digital media was WINDOWS XP. i wanna fix it and i cant
Interesting. Crazy auto removal on upgrade? Wikipedia "Windows Ultimate Extras have been discontinued as of Windows 7 and the operating system also removes all installed extras during an upgrade from Windows Vista Ultimate."
Collectors Lament: Buying the boxed set hoping for something special inside only to find that what was special was the box. What's really funny is that those rebate scams were so prevalent back then that even Microsoft got into doing them.
Wow all those skins look like the most cheap fake MP6 players that like dankpods would review haha. I would've foudn it tacky and ugly in the day but I was much more of a nerdy stick-in-the-mud. I certainly appreciate the style now.
I used plus back in the day. had a great experience with it! im glad you are collecting these, michael!

25:45 greatest video of all time, deserves an award
i thought the plus dancer was a gag you edited in, so weird that its official microsoft software
It looks weird and comical at the same time
Again, very enjoyable video as always. A very fun Plus! Pack as well. The highlight is definitely the marquee becoming "aaaaaaaa--" at 20:40. Lol.
those desktop dancers remind me of another program I found when I was a teen
🤨
“Hello everybody and welcome back to a new video” never gets old.
it's a shame that microsoft left the XP design language behind. it was unironically a very human design.
It’s the most aesthetically pleasing version of windows imo. So simplistic and easy to use. it just works and does what you want it to.
Microsoft definitely changed after XP.
The Vista design team with their Aero remains the greatest.
It was an 8 year old human design, to be precise
@@prebenjaeger Aero was great! but it feels more like...minerals. hard, glossy, almost cold. almost clinical. not something to "live" with.

Im glad your documenting Microsoft Plus!!! I find the Plus packages really interesting
This is very cool! I support you in your youtube journey!

Windows XP Plus! Was pretty cool. I did played Hyperbowl quite a lot and this really deserves me good.
Party Mode has a great potential. It's very sad that modern Media Player doesn't have alternative skins and visualizations at all.
Used active sync for my pocket PC but never heard of the sync program
33:03 That looks like some FNAF Security Camera footage. Five Nights at Black Mesa?
This is giving me such 1999 vibes, miss the era of the more simple times on my Microsoft pc playing The Sims.
If you're a fan of the Alien franchise, quadrilogy is definitely a word! And i really miss the Win98 / XP days of figuring out cool and aggravating ways to personalize your computer!
I bought Plus 98 for my kids computer back in I believe 1999 or 2000. Was a nifty little add on!
the last version of Microsoft Plus was Windows Ultimate Extras
I remember buying this in the stores. Damn, I feel old now.
"Powered by cool edit Technology"
That's wild. Cool Edit went on to become Adobe Audition.
I LOVED plus! DME So much!! Microsoft should bring it back one day.
i have those speakor the older verizon of those speakers I still use them to this day as my main surround sound audio setup
I love how Half-Life turns up in every one of your videos in some form. Speaking of HL1, I'm still waiting for your 25th Anniversary review!
I had the plus pack for 98, loved it... loved all the themes and Screensavers ... never realized there were packs like that for XP and MCE, though

Why does the tour music remind me of the "you wouldnt download a car" commercial? 🤣
the box give a different satisfaction feeling when purchase it
a trip down the memory lane…
Now to take a look at Samsung Theme for Windows XP, which is the origin of the "Faked" Windows Longhorn sounds.
wait, there was a Samsung theme?, I need to make a video on that.
The desktop dancer reminds me of Tayne

Still waiting on the video on the Plus Games pack that was released around the time of Windows Me.
then also they put alot of things from plus in "Windows medic center 2005" which is based off from windows pro
Great videos
36:26 I feel like it’d be more useful as a reminder, like to tell you it’s a certain time to do something.
Videos on Power Toys would be cool.
That's cute, but Windows Media Centre Edition was truly god tier!
I miss the dancers.. they always make me laugh when I glance down at them. Also miss playing music with full screen media visuals running.
Is this the last Plus! pack?

Hey Michael Why don't you do a video about you installing ReactOS on An Orginal Xbox
I wish more developers would join that project. It should've been out of alpha at least 10 years ago.
I tried to install this but it needs activation - when I called they said they can't get a key because they don't support it anymore. Any ideas?
Please upload the photo story video!
he should upload it.
Remember downloading the plus software from AOL warez rooms. 😆
Only thing that was more of a pita was the palm pilot sync software with outlook.
what about windows vista extras
For Windows Analog Recorder, you should put a blindfold on your microphone. Why? So it won't be "peeking". (sorry)
i have plus on win10 it had an error but it installed
It might work on Windows 10 32 bit. I installed W10 32 bit and more older programs work despite using only 4 GB of ram.
wait how?
anyway to use those on windows 10 or 11?
I'm interested in having an iso image of Microsoft + digital media edition.
