In this video learn the covariance and correlation formula and learn how to apply it in Excel. In addition step by step instructions on drawing a scatterplot with a trendline
Thanks, I was wondering why Covariance was giving different values to my manual calculations. Thanks for the detail explaining it was just rounding errors.
I calculated the correlation value for a set of data with and without the use of Data Analysis toolpak and found that the values I obtained were different from each other. Why is this so?
That isn't a rounding error. The expression should be 1/n, which will give you 13.9264 (taking your 13.97781*271/272), which is the same as what excel gives you
Adding to this, that is the difference between calculating based on a *Population* and a *Sample.* For a sample, N-1 is used. Excel, unless specified, calculates based on a population.
Thank you for the video. it helped me a lot

Thank you so much for the tutorial
Would you also tell me which tool you are using for making this video

the right title should be MANUAL calculation of Covariance and Correlation in Excel.
Hey I get a zero for covariance but there is correlation for the data set in excel.. please help.

Looks like a good tutorial. The view is too far back though, I can barely read any of the headings in order to follow whats being done.
