At last a video that gives the close-ups needed to show how this works.
This was the video I was looking for. All the others start half way through the process. Excellent!
Just what I was looking for. Clearest and most informative video on the net. Many thanks.
Thx for the close up and showing which ends need to be joined!

Thanks alot🙏💐
Really good video info for a newbie many thanks.
I hear many people say you should only re-use a quick link too many times. I’ve often wondered if there’s a number of times. My chain is on a trike. I remove for clean/hot wax every month or two. I have three KMC missing links to make the job easier. They’ve been re-used maybe ten times. No problems.
I'd probably replace one with the chain, so If I replace my chain at 3k miles. I will get a new quick link. it's obviously reusable, they have tools designed just for them. That being said, if it concerns you, just keep a spare set of quick links on you when you ride.
very helpful thanks!
Superb. Thank you
Exactly what I was looking for! Got brand new bike but want to install master link and strip grease off!
Good stuff
Thank you
Shimano ones are directional. Make sure you check that.
Thanks for the tutorial, got it
Thank you
0:05 ok right it's only good for one occasionally if your chain snapped my riding is fitting or do the job correctly 24-hour emergency Friday and back home from certain places where are advised many people not to go for a split link and put it on your bike I buy you to unlink one of the links a link extractor and put it on permanently starts wearing and tearing then once the chain snapped on you after usage then you are able to use a split link for emergencies when you're out and about
Thanks for sharing key knowledge. Much appreciated!
Thank u soo much
Great video, very clear instructions. Are you from Totton? Accent sounds like it!
Brilliant!
Fantastic I was looking for this
I was also thinking about getting one of those KMC quicklinks, as they’re rated as “reusable” and they claim they can be reused up to 3 times. Though I don’t know what it’s meant by that, do they mean the link can be opened and closed up to 3 times or they can be used with up to 3 different chain cycles. Either way I was confused about whether it was better to use a joining pin or a quick link as a connection method and have found discording views about both, but I think I’ll try out both and make sure to change them from time to time for safety precautions. Your guide is very clear and helpful!
Great camera work, really helps. Does the quick link make the chain any less reliable?
Cheers and Merry Christmas
A chain will be no less reliable with a missing link installed! And a very Merry Christmas to you too!!
Amazing video, love how thorough you were. helped a ton! 👍👍👍

Di el like número mil 🙌🏼
What if the link has a directional arrow on it? I can't get my head round it. If you put one part of the link in so that the arrow is pointing in the direction of travel, the other part points against the direction of travel. Does any of this really matter cause I can't see any way round it. Same with the chain. Some chains say to have writing facing towards you. What difference does it make?
I have the same question on those arrows; only one can point the correct direction. The writing must face out, so it’s with the writing I had the arrow go in the correct direction. Shimano can sure use to clarify the double arrow matter.
May be stupid question - but is it possible to press the pin back in the same chain link? I just want to replace the front derailleur, so essentially I just need to open and close the chain.
You would have to install a brand new pin!
The tool that you were using to push that pin out where can I buy one of them
Amazon
I don't think my mountain bike has a quick link how do I take the pin out of a derailleur see if I if I can take the pin out of a brand new derailleur a front derailleur could I put that on the chain but what I want to know is if I take the pin out if you can take if I can take the pin out of the front derailleur the brand new one that I am getting where do I find a pin to put into the the front derail

What happens if it broke and the break is not at where it was put together originally? Is it duff and Halfords job?
