This was the first Kirby game I ever played as a kid, and it lead to my love of the series! I originally played the 3DS remake, and I've since gone back and played the original and the GBA remake plenty of times. It's incredible how much was put into this game despite the NES' hardware limitations, and it's really cool how much of the elements in this game from the new game mechanics to the small details became mainstay motifs reappearing in almost every Kirby game after it. It's not the best game in the series, I'd argue it hasn't aged as well as some of the later sequels, but this game is absolutely a full Kirby experience that's a lot of fun to this day.
Kirby's Adventure is one of those games that just feels so complete. It's the whole package, all wrapped up with a little bow. If you wait on the title screen, it shows you a little introduction story for the game, and if you wait longer, there's even a little tutorial. There's minigames. There's a boss rush. There's an extra mode where you have to beat the game with 3HP, and when you beat it you unlock a Sound Test mode where you can listen to the best NES music ever. They thought of everything!
ayo i loved this video! Kirby's adventure is one of my favourite games and definitely deserves the love. I agree with the other commenter on making the background music a little bit more quiet : ) subscribed!
I think the only wrong take here is that Mario 3's the only NES good game: even at its most mid, Mega Man kept swinging with 6 bangers in a row. I gotta play Kirby's Adventure! I'm excited to see how it fares
Away from my collection, but off the top of my head shatter hand, mega man 6, ninja gaiden 3, silius, little samson all offer gameplay and graphics that are pretty timeless. I always felt, having beaten the original nes mario games before Kirby came out that even as a 7 year old it was too simple and slow. Great game for what it is, i wish it was the first game i played because it's so kind to the player.
Yeah, it makes me forget how the NES was incredibly weak, love how the title for “Best NES game” is usually either Mario 3, or Kirby’s Adventure. Personally the experimentation with the copy abilitys in Kirby’s adventure is more enjoyable in my opinion. If this were a retro-indie game on steam I’d gladly pay 20$ for it. For its completeness and previously mentioned experimentation.
NES gets a lot of hate from people who primarily play modern games. It is true that a lot of nes games are pretty hard but there are a lot of forgiving games that have infinite continues or passwords. Here are my recommendations -Castlevania 3 (famicom version) -Mega man 2 -Bucky O'hare -Zelda 2 -Gun Nac -Batman
I don’t understand why people believe the nes is a bad system with bad games and bad graphics. Maybe I’ve just been playing retro games for too long, but lots of the games on the nes are amazing and the graphics are phenomenal
I still like SMB3 more. Kirby’s Adventure is great, but the slowdown and lag add up over the average playthrough for me. I’m also just so glad the series changed how floating works. Mashing jump just feels more natural than holding up to puff up and then being able to press A to afterwards.
hey brother, this just popped in my recommendations. you should invest in a little better mic, but beyond that you could achieve some better sound quality just by boosting your mids on the vocals, and turning the music/sound effects a little quieter. take a look, your editing software might have a "vocals mode" that will put some compression and EQ on the track with one button. Anyway, nice work. I liked the script fs
You can use the super secret technique that Bastion's devs used to get award-winning sound without a proper recording booth... Just record in the closet. You'll be surprised at the difference.
I have to disagree with the hammer part because hammer has stayed as one of the strongest copy abilities in the series. Other than that I have no complaints great video!!
best from nes is hard decide let alone kirby (kirby is almost always just good enough) but you bring pretty good points, this is the very high of kirby taking the maximum power of nes and puting their love into it, is always cool to see hal go behond in this franschise, and even the early days they hit hard i dont know if can consire the best of nes, since i am more of snes guy, but i even from purely kirby, yeah adventure is GOOD, the limitations are sad but they fit the game and the amount stuff they put is just so charmy is hard not to smile heck gba adventure doesnt have more dream like stuff that nes makes you fell, is more abstract that anything since never too colorfull to cover the dream stuff that nes has besides adventure, dream land 3, i didnt feel this dreamy vibes until rtdl so contrats to hal for this
Technically, the NES is modular. The cartridge for this game had hardware in it that made this game possible. Super Mario 1 is what truly pushes the NES to its limit. I encourage you to try more NES games though. There's so amazing stuff hidden in there and even when it was current the arcade ports were kinda middling. Though Double Dragon and Contra were always favorites. Little Samson, Kickle Cubical, Princess Tomato, Gimmick!, and others are all great games.
Copying abilities is the stuff of megaman, along with the slide. Nevertheless, this is a great game which took advantage of the technological advances and programming on the NES platform late into it's life(Same for Gimmick! which came out a year earlier). An NES classic no doubt.
I love me some Castlevania 3, but honestly it’s no competition. While many NES games, Castlevania and Mega Man included, haven’t aged so well these days, Kirby’s Adventure is one of the few that has, with the exceptions of some slow down here and there
it’s just TOO limited in many situations. the sprites are often bad, they almost NEVER have save files, the difficulty is often unrefined… NES to zoomers (and late millennials) is like trying to play Atari or Turbografx. there’s just… almost no reason to play it nowadays when almost every game on it worth playing has a better version remake (Nightmare in Dream Land, SM All Stars, Metroid Zero Mission, etc)
@@mirabilis I mean I was born more than a decade after the NES launched, and I would still consider it the first "good" console. Back then failure was not a choice but an inevitability. How you dealt with it was part of the fun!
No, but because of this I looked into it. Simply just improving the frame rate drops already makes it better, and I imagine the 3D effects would be neat since I actually use the 3D slider.
5:50 You like the hammer in Kirby's Adventure? Wait until you try it out in Kirby Superstar. It is easily the best ability in the game.
