*SPOILERS* For me “For Riddles and Wonders” is like a conversation between nahida and rukkhadevata.. with the sitar representing nahida and the flute rukkhadevata. It starts with the melancholy sitar, with a sad nahida not wanting lose rukkha, then the flute(rukkha) comes in, almost consoling nahida(the nostalgic flute), then nahida tries to talk to rukkha, but cant complete her sentence(the last sitar line almost fumbling) and then rukkha says her final words and leaves(the final flute line)
I hate that song, everytime I'm in Sumeru City and it plays my eyes misteriously start to fog up and i have to stay still and listen to it until it's over 😢
Alright, since I did the Aranara quest for you, I owe it to you to at least describe the Marana bossfight. So it's done traveler only. You can't use any other characters. Lumine is wearing the floral crown of the Aranara, made with everyone's memories, hopes, and dreams. Arama is guiding you through Old Vanarana until you come across Marana's Avatar, the boss. Marana is the embodiment of Abyssal corruption that causes the withering. You and Arama go around clearing the area of totally fairly scaled monsters and withering and hitting Marana when you have the chance. When you finally win, Arama uses his power to turn himself into the tree that will bear the fruit to save Rana and disappears. The floral crown gives its power to nurture the new tree and it bears fruit. Arama's brother, Arana, standing next to you and asks "Who are you?", his memories gone; used as power to nurture the tree. All of the Aranara who gave you their flowers lost all their memories and personalities to save rana.
There's nothing sadder than having old friends forget who you are. It's also why I think Sumeru as a whole has been more emotionally powerful than the other regions for me thus far. From the Aranara to Greater Lord Ruddhadevata... Even the Jinni Liloupar as her powers fade and she forever loses her sentience. When we got introduced to the Pari, I thought a similar fate would be awaiting for us at the end of the quest line. lol It is quite fun to hear their thoughts on the Aranara.
21:50 Even with Fontaine being out, stepping into Sumeru city and hearing this song brought back so much memory of running around this place for months
21:05 Played the whole aranara whole quest, and when I got to that boss battle I actually just stopped and stood around for a while so that I can listen to the music. It's actually dynamic, in that it drops in intensity when you are not fighting the main boss in the centre of the map, and when you go back to to hit the main boss, the music ramps up a lot and it's great. I love the synthetic sounds of it, it sounds unnatural and representative of the unnatural nature of the Abyss corruption and the Withering. It's one of my favourite tracks of the OST.
I love the marana's avatar fight cause the premise of it is really cool since you're fighting something that's called "Death's avatar" and the boss theme is heavliy underrated since either people never got to it or they don't remember it because it was a one time fight :/ (marana means death or killing in sanskrit + i *think* at one point the aranara refer to marana/withering as the memory of death)
"Whirling of Leaves and Petals" that plays in the city when the huge brass transitions into the godly drop is something I will never forget about Sumeru
riddle for wonders is my favorite song in sumeru. it never fails to make me emotional every time it plays i always find myself pausing and listening to it.
Thank you for this. I love the entire playlist you've put together here. If you ever get to finish the Aranara quest to fight Marnara, bring a decently built dendro traveler or you will struggle. For Riddles, For Wonders makes me cry when I hear it in game now.
Idk I completely erased this from my mind because I had to fight it with a GEO TRAVELER. It was traumatic 🥺 I think I had to do it with my lvl 60 traveler 😭😭 i kept screaming for Arama to save me 😂😂

“Jolts in the Forest” is my 2nd favorite Sumeru battle theme behind “Across Dimming Asterisms” from the desert (specifically i think it only plays in battles inside the pyramids?) BUT “Jolts in the Forest” will always hold a special place in my heart since it was used to accompany those teaser/informational vids hoyo put out about Sumeru ahead of 3.0 and it just got me SO hyped up!
The flute In rainforest is Indian Flute (Bansuri) In desert the Egyptian (Ney) And Also Duduk(armenian)used 17:27 that drony sound is from Indian instrument called Tanpura 2:49 Tabla or dholak probably (indian percussion) 18:57 they always use music like that whenever something is not of tevyat like Marana(like the whale music)but since this Marana is in forest It got that Forest Instruments put in Bansuri(flute),Sitar,Tabla,Tanpura to have that feel to it
My favourite is Nahida theme song (the na~ nana na na na NA~~), which also from the place near Sumeru City, which also used during Aranara Party/Festival with us playing the instrument (that moment just chef's kiss)
For me, the first song that really set the tone for Sumeru for me was "Rustling of Tender Foliage". After leaving the Chasm and setting my eyes on Sumeru for the first time with the Divine Tree at Sumeru city and seeing the massive mountains with green foliage all over the place, this being the first thing I ever heard of the Sumeru OST really set the scene for me. The rising of the flute in this theme specifically really matched the aesthetic that I was unsure Hoyo would be able to execute on, with Indian and Arabian culture being ones they don't really explore in their games, I was surprised in a good way that they managed to match the aesthetic and vibes with the music from this track alone.
it'll be "For Riddles, for Wonders" , the first time you heard the song you enjoyed it you savor it because how idyllic it is, then you heard the song again after clearing Sumeru Archon Quest it never feel the same because the emotion it brings....
Everytime I hear the @8:20 part I got immediate association with "Gonna Fly Now" from Rocky soundtrack. It's not even that similar when you listen to it side by side but I can't help it. It was the first thing that came to my mind when I first heard that part and it still is until now.
I have to hold my tears everytime I listen to For Riddles and Wonders. The story with this songs really impacted me with bittersweet feelings. Evergreen Wishes is one of my favourite too. ❤ For me songs that make me feel Sumeru are Flickering Shadows of Trees and As the Soft Wind Blows. 😊
For me like this first two tracks of Sumeru I ever heard, to me were like this is Sumeru and it's gonna be EPIC The 1st was the 3.0 trailer soundtrack that soundtrack doubled , tripled...... My excitement for Sumeru 2nd one was like a core Sumeru theme recorded live performance they did during the 3.0 livestream you can find on Genshin's official channel i think it's called Sumeru Symphony
7:15 i was actually listening to this the other day and had the same thought, i'm almost certain that the time signature switches up a bit after the french horn comes in (7:20) and the same thing happens at 6:04 and 6:23. also this is probably my favorite track from sumeru because of the insane build-up at 7:30
The song that I associate with Sumeru is Vestige of Dahri, idk why but as soon as I heard it I stopped and just listened. Looking at the beauty around me and I just knew that was the song.

The bitter sweet thing about Jolts in the Forest, exactly like Fiery Escape in Inazuma is …. they made them only exclusively Boss Themes for the OW Bosses T_T Seriously, it only plays against the Terror Shroom ….
If you'd like Sami, I could play through the Aranara quest(at least we watch the scenes together on RUclips) and voice some of the Aranara for ya Mayhaps other watcher(or Discord member) may chime in

"Jolts in the Forest" is 4/4, it's just that the beginning notes don't fall on the beat (i.e. syncopated)
