2024-01-19 UPDATE - The latest version of the Camwipe uses the smaller toothbrush style brush, so it looks like the version 5 in this video, but has the better brush. That is the version I would want if I was ordering today.
You should do a video about the cost of owning an EV. With the World moving in the direction of 100% electric, it would be interesting to know this. Well done again!
@@EV-olution yes please I'm trying to justify thr cost of BEV vrs what I pay fir my PHEV with Gas monthly if I can afford it. great idea automoticewoman!!!
André, very good to see the updated and improved Camwipes and your thoughts about them. Speaking of improvements…. your outtakes are getting better too!!! 😂. Keep the videos coming. ✅
My earlier version of Camwipe was ripped off in a carwash recently. It survived a few dozen before it, but I THINK that exposure to the weather made the plastic brittle enough to snap. I'll probably try V.5 and try to remember to remove it before going through the carwash. ;)
Sorry you lost your Camwipe. It is important to remove any lose items when using a brushed car wash because they are pretty violent. I had one of my Camwipes on my car for over 1 year and it was fine, but I don't use automatic brush car washes. You are going to like the latest version, it is pretty slick looking.
When I go to the car wash I always r & r the camwipe with the original cover that came with the car. It does great for what it's intended for but it's very flimsy when compared to the original cover. BTW, I took a black dri-marker (sharpie) to dye the bristles black so they're less obvious than the white bristles.
You are correct; it is important to remove the Campwipe when going through a car wash. As the car wash instructions indicate, any loose items must be removed and because the Camwipe has a long exposed area that can be hooked onto by spinning brushes it can be easily ripped off of the car.
I like the skoda version that is vanilla on all skodas it uses the sprayer and its not harmful to the lens. And btw what about the 2024 variant the camera is lower so that brush is not compatible btw a brush on dry road dust is not a good combination
I wish that the rear camera spayer was a standard feature on all cars. FYI, I had a Camwipe on my Niro EV for almost 3 years and the lens was never damaged by using it; the design and brush was excellent and worked well without causing any issues. Unfortunately the new Niro EV rear camera placement makes it impossible to use the Camwipe, which is a shame since it has no sprayer.
Hi Andre, I bought one last summer on your recommendation, can you comment on the cleaning abilities of the v5 in comparison to older toothbrush models?
I actually just installed the new one for this video and it has only been on for 1 week, so I still don't know how efficient it is compared to the older version.
I have a Thule setup. I actually made a detailed video about it that you can see here: ruclips.net/video/PrHsO5ghCnQ/видео.html Be sure to subscribe and hit the notification bell so as to not miss future videos 😎
Hi Andrea - Thx for the update - I had saved ur video last week. I require ur help on the same Niro u have for 2019. I need to change my Aero windshield wipers finally and I had opened ur early video on this item. Where did u acquire the replacement rubbers for the wiper? Couldn't find the Aero product numbers u suggested on Amazon and Canadian Tire. Thanks
Hi. All of the part numbers and parts I bought are for original Kia and Hyundai parts. You can get them at your local Kia dealer. I actually replied to your e-mail from earlier this week.
@@EV-olution Thx Andre, somehow I missed ur earlier reply. I just checked my SPAM file and found it. When I watched the video to replace the Cabin Filter - u made it so simple and I told Kia service dept that it has been changed and thx again .
The design of the arm itself is excellent, but I sent feedback to Eldar at Camwipe after using it in the winter because the paint-brush style brush would get wet and freeze into a block of ice. I believe he switched back to the toothbrush style after my comment that year. I will send him a message to ask about it since I own an EV6 I have not communicated much with him since I switched cars.
@@JDoetsch23 I got a message back from Eldar and the latest version uses the smaller toothbrush style brush. So it looks like the version 5, but has the better brush. That is the one I would want if I was ordering today.
Since we only get about 35C here at most, and not every day, I don't have that experience. Other than this last one I just installed, I have had 2 different versions in the last couple of years with the first one having been there for an entire year (winter and summer), with no issues.
As Robert mentioned, the real Camwipe can only be bought at www.camwipe.com. Thanks Robert. I added the link to the description of the video, I had forgotten.

Yo thank you so much! The cam wipe will help me not have to clean of my rear cam by licking my fingers and wiping off the grime. Lol😂
I really miss having one. As much as I love my EV6, as my more recent videos show, the camera gets dirty and I have to clean it on a regular basis 🙁

It is fine in the rain, but I will only know about efficiency in the snow this winter.

Did v5 perform well in the winter?

The only issue I have had is that the plastic gets brittle in hot weather 40c to 45c where I live is normal in summer.
