So happy to see progress happening on this mod! The agot mod for ck2 was what got me into paradox games and I've spent hundreds of hours in both ck2 and eu4 now. Thanks so much to the devs!
Looking phenomenal. As for a detail on tywin's armor that that i missed: we are told that in his pauldrons there are golden lion heads with ruby eyes, that would look wicked dope if translated into the mod
Rhaegar’s armor is amazing just wish it was more dark to make it stand out more, imagine him in all black looking like a god of war coming at you. Also no chance for the Stark high tier to have big pauldrons like Robb in the show?
Take a look at the Discord where an updated piece based on these criticisms and others since modcon. Hopefully this new rendition is closer to the fans' interpretation of the armor!
I cannot express, how impressed I am by your efforts of merging my favourite book series and my favourite game. You citing the books remind me I have to read them again before "Winter" comes out. Not so much time :D
Wow the armor is looking good. Can't wait to see more of the unique armors for Characters. Renly's green enameled plate, and Loras Tyrell's armor jump to mind.
11:33 but the Ironborn are said to fight in plate! They're considered crazy to fight with plate on ship, because if you fall, you drown. That's why when they board ships they're not infrequently met by people in poor armour or without any armour (certainly not plate). So they might sound Scandinavian/Norse to us in some respects, in terms of the armour they wear...they're not. At least...the higher lords, I think it's fair to say the lower-level soldiers in all reams won't have as splendid plate armour as their lord (save for the Lannister and High Garden soldiers, smaller lords in those lands are probably not rich enough for that either).
We know this, and what Voltaire meant is the helmets. We are thinking to kinda fuse vendel helms and later medieval helmets together to make armor that invoke early medieval norse armor but is still full plate.
@@rafrecon Oh, I see! I love the idea of the vendel helm fusion, it would give it the viking-like look, but more protective and less chain-mail. Will they have roundshields? Will you fashion a squid-helmet too?
@@daddyleon Shields for Ironborn are undecided but round seems good, and I do think we'll have SOME helmet at least embossed with squid iconography, but you'd have to wait and see.
Great work i love how much passion you have and how hard you work on this mod. I have a question, will north get some sort of plate later on, Jory Cassel, and some high lords like Robb, Brandon Stark and Roose Bolton use them so it would be canon
Amazing work, love Rhaegar's armour and the Valeman armour the most, that being said I also love the rest of the armour. My only personal complaint with the armour is that i feel Tywin's armour is too red, it kinda reminds me of Iron Man's armour, but maybe that's just me. Also I am curious as to why you can't make a Century of Blood start date and why you would have to make it a submod?
The Tywin armor was decided on a few factors; basically it’s as deep crimson and a lot of arm shows really vivid colours, whereas I wanted almost more of a plumbluing type of look. This was a compromise between the two.
@@rafrecon Ah ok, I'm sure it wil look fine, it was just a thought I had. Anyways, great work on the rest of the armours, I really loved Rhaegar's ruby armour and I saw mentions of wildling armour in the discord, are there any images of the wildling stuff?
I wonder how they are going to do the unique character armours, will it be an artifact that anyone can equip? Or perhaps have it be a requirement to be in the same dynasty/house?
Not gonna lie, just wanted to see game of thrones armor but I can respect the faithfulness to cannon….. even though the Starks, Tully, Stannis and Lannister armor was too tier
Western, wester men with gold mines is obviously meant to be based on Wales and the Welsh. Power of the Welsh empire was unsurpassed in medieval Europe
First off, amazing work. I've been playing CK2 AGOT since 2012 and everything you've done so far for CK3 surpasses anything I could have dreamed of almost a decade ago. I wish you all the best and await patiently the first release. My only opinion I'd like to offer is that the shoulder pauldrons on Robert Baratheon's armor are so large that to me it looks like they would restrict his movement so much he wouldn't be able to wield his warhammer as depicted in canon. Most later medieval plate shoulder pauldrons I'm familiar with either have segmentation to them along the upper arm, or have a sort of cut out or taper over the arm to allow the arms to raise if the pauldron is a single solid piece. I know segmentation would be a lot more modeling work, but wonder if there's any chance of shrinking the pauldrons or tapering back the curve that goes over the arms. Thanks for reading and good luck with all your work.
So there is a chance, and you are right, most late medieval are like that. But the armor is inspired by transitional which were not always segmented, as well as the fact that they are mostly there to elevate he brutish look. They aren’t super historical and are honestly inspired by Robb’s shoulder armor in the show, but it is likely a look we will keep for him.
Small Feedback: I think Roberts Armor should bear the baratheon stag without the crown adornment, I guess that would have been adapted only after his coronation
I love all the armor, especially the stormlands. Unfortunately I’m not a big fan of Rhaegars armor, it is a bit too bright and doesn’t really fit the jet black Targaryen armor that I’ve imagined in my head cannon. Imo It’s not that distinguishable from a regular lords armor in terms of coloring. But the rubies are absolutely beautiful! Overall great work!
I'm surprised you're putting so much armor on some of the tier 1 models. I'd expect it to be more like a padded jacket and a half helm for any kingdom. Throwing a breastplate on every foot soldier would be a dramatic change in cost and effectiveness of your army. Maybe I'm misunderstanding where these models are used. I'm thinking of dunk and eggs peasant militia representing light infantry using the tier 1 model. Are you doing anything to buff the richer kingdoms armies to reflect the discrepancy in equipment?
So the main thing to remember is the armors are used by characters, not the low poly models that’ll be on the move in war. This makes it so even the lowest of nobles would still likely have SOMETHING.
@@rafrecon oh cool! cant wait to see them, so then who is going to be using the lower tier armors for high valyrian? will knights be using that? also are these armors characters wear or armors of the units on the ground or both? will a stormlander knight in service of a targaryan king wear stormlander or high valyrian armor?
@@TheRomanPraetor These are all questions still up in the air What we want is that your kniths lords and wanderers all wear one of the 3 armors, and we made 3 tiers so that you don't have stormland knights all wear the same thing. For the last questions, this is still up in arms. personally I want to have it that you wear the armor of the CULTURE you are tied to and not your liege, as knights IRL bought their own armors as they saw fit, not given to them standized by their liege.
@@rafrecon yeah I would agree with that as it makes the most sense for knights to wear their own armor, and that will keep people being more diverse, I will say westerlands and valyrians might be my facovite, and im excited to see anything for crownlands and the reach, especially as I intend to do either a House Scales custom character (so long as the house customizer trait is still in game) or a house osgrey I love the work. if I were to make any suggestion it would be consider using an early greathelm for the north as a helmet or just a full greathelm
