I’m really appreciating the de-emphasis on the travel time and instead using the charging time as the metric. It really helps to levelize the results and reduce the background variables like traffic and road conditions.

12:45 I think Recharge is very DISHONEST when labeling 300A chargers as 150 kW, because NO EV has 500V to use it, for 400 V it is then max. 120 kW which is much too slow to demonstrate modern EVs.

How has the electricity prices impacted the cost differential between an EV v ICE in Norway? I also think it was a mistake that Norway had connected to the European energy network. It has really been bad for Norwegians.

Mercedes doesn’t preheat when manually navigating to a charger. You should have navigated to the final destination. Then it adds a charging stop in the trip and the car will preheat.

Your explanation seems to makes sense, I have an EQS 450 later in the month and will try it then! Thanks 😊

Yes it does, it is a matter of settings. Under route you can change minimum soc at charger and at destination, set both to minimum and you can navigate to charger.

@@rollrobson I fiddled with these settings before I started the video, and no setting for preheating though.

Correct! But they affect the way tou can navigate directly to the charger, and therefore the preconditioning. Check with MB 😉

Such a waste of energy doing all those runs!

How so? Those videos have hundred and thousands of views and helped countless people chose the correct EV for their use case 😅 On top of that 99% of electricity in Norway comes from renewable energy, so impact on the environment has been minimal 👍

@@KrisRifa renewable energy sources - good.
But still you produce lots of unnecessary pollution: tyre&asphalt wear just as an example.
And it doesn't really matter to our planet, whether your audience pick an EQS instead of a Taycan or vice versa.
