Shit, man. This got me totally by surprise, what a great performance! Loved your acting decisions, I'm gonna use as a reference to work in this song. Thank you a lot!
@@claytonlukens I am casting in Newsies with a very ambitious community theatre program... I was wondering how tall you are... because I would like to play Jack. I have the vocal range, the emotion, and the experience. I just feel out of place because I am 6"2.
I’m playing jack for my high school’s production. God send me help. What are any tips you can give for the high A’s? Every other note is in my range but I just can’t seem to push them out without breaking into falsetto
The Mad Ginger the biggest thing I had to remember was to take a big relaxed breath and keep the sound resonating towards the top of mouth (through my teethish). Before we opened I would warm up starting lower all the way up to an A to help my voice adjust. If you sing it consistently before performance you will feel more confident in the note and your voice will be more comfortable singing that high. If you have anymore questions DM me on Instagram @ClaytonLukens
One more question... did you find it difficult (at first) voicing the last note of the song? How would you say you support such a long, high note? Any advice?
David Johnson yes! It was difficult every night, the biggest thing I had to remember was to take a big relaxed breath and keep the sound resonating towards the top of mouth (through my teethish). @@claytonlukensThank you! Yeah. Makes sense. I have been trying to train my voice for it... it is actually increasing my high range! (And confidence) I am glad to hear that it was a process for you as well! Thank you.
Hmm, there are very small details I could pick at, basically the first verse, but all in all (and ignoring the pit which is good but not great) this is the best Jack I've seen on youtube/Amazon. Jeremy Jordan is a great actor, but I don't think he fits this part terribly well. Daniel Maldonado from the touring cast is still the best I've seen in this role, but this is a solid number 2 and well above Jordan who, although incredibly talented, just isn't suited to this role.
Not even fair. I still can't get over how incredibly talented you are.
Casey Keefe I LOVE YOU. SO MUCH.
Clayton Lukens I LOVE YOU TOO!!!
You’re amazing

Cherish Hales thank you dearly!!!
@@claytonlukens Yes! Very good.

This is just a good as mine
Question.... how tall are you?
David Johnson Hey! I’m 5’11, Jack can totally be a taller guy. Break a leg at your audition!!!
Thanks man! I appreciate it!

Thats not a pit orchestra, thats a recording, you just said the official orchestra recording was "not great"
