I have the exact same blower and problem. The extension cord that you have did not come with the blower, it is just what the prior owner used to run the blower. - The blower has a male connector that is mounted in its case. You then plug your extension cord into that and it works just fine. However! PROBLEM: - The electrical connection gets hot with use. - The 2 prong male connector is held in between the 2 red case sides by a piece of black rubber/plastic. - The black connector heats up and melts, which then drips into the female connector on your extension cord. It dries and plastic welds the the connection together. - The cord is now permanently fused to the blower. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW BY #HOMELITE, probably saves them a few cents on each unit. To fix it, - Cut the electrical cord about 1 foot from the blower. Attach a new male plug end on the 1' section, that is now hanging off your blower. - Attached a new female plug head on your extension cord. 20-30 minute easy/full fix, or If you try to pry your extension cord off/out of the blower, you will pull the Male connection prongs out as well. You can see that in his video. There are 12 screws that hold the 2 sides of the red case together. 1 of which is hidden under the black label on the side of the blower, it is approximately 1" under the word Model on the label. After removing the screws the case will fall right off. Just buy a 6' extension cord, cut off the female end, and wire it to the blower. Hints: Keep the old black rubber/plastic plug, and strip the wire out of the rubber plug. Simply drill a hole in it big enough for the new cord and use it again to fill the gap between the case sides. Inside the black/hot wire runs to the switch and is soldered on. The white wire runs to a crimped-on joint. Cut the black wire at the prior plug and split the crimped-on joint preserving the wire running to the inside. Simply use butt joint connectors to attach your new cord to the old wires and you are good to go! I also used a few zip ties on my new cord, inside of the black pug. Then zipped tied the external cord to the back of the handle to keep the new cord from getting ripped out/off.
