Love Wacky packs had all of the 73 and 74 series ! Also you can buy a hard cover book of those series that come with some stickers. The B sticker is for Boston red sox baseball . Thanks again for the memories !
I have a large collection of bubblegum cards and stickers, mostly television and movie cards, some with the original wrappers and boxes. I still have an old notebook full of the 1979 series of Wacky Packages. I have another one with Pac-man. Q-Bert, and Donkey Kong stickers.
I had some rubber monsters based off the monster stickers. My mom bought bags of them for party favors for probably my first grade birthday which would have been 72 ish?
I bought something similar on Ebay within the last year - a Star Trek scrapbook from the 70s with Lincoln Enterprises catalogs, Star Trek fanzines, and lots of magazine clippings. These are amazing time capsules.
@@BrickMantooth I had toyed with idea (pun intended) of breaking the scrapbook apart. I just couldn't do it - the personality the original collector was perfectly the 70s (I grew into the nerd I am today in the 70s). Also, I really love and appreciate your videos. I really feel a kinship with you and Jason.
This was slightly before my time, so it was interesting to see. There was something kind of like Wacky Packages when I was a kid. They were little plastic boxes shaped like VHS tapes that came with candy inside, and had stickers of parody movie posters on them. The only one I remember was "The Karatied Kid in Two Parts", which showed the Karate Kid getting chopped in half. I think there might've been a Star Wars one that showed Luke chopping his own head off with a lightsaber.
Hi Brian ! You are right about the Ugly Stickers being based on Basil Wolverton art - well, 12 of them were - he was fired from the job after demanding copyright control. The rest were designed by Norman Saunders & Wally Wood, and all painted by Saunders (he painted the Wacky Packs stickers, too). Some of the Ugly Stickers creatures were released by Topps as Rubber Uglies - small rubber jiggler-type toys. These made it over here to the UK as well, they're great !!
Very fun, nostalgic video. I remember most of these stickers, especially the Marvel Heroes. BTW, the Star Trek stickers at 13:26 are from a 1975 Canadian ST sticker series. There was a sticker album that you could paste the stickers in. Thanks for sharing these cool blasts from the past.
That's great. Had a couple of those wacky labels stickers, but even as a kid, after the third one, the joke ran out of steam. Love those topps marvel stickers! Would have bugged my mom endlessly if I'd known about those. Think I mostly had Star Wars cards and stickers and a few Welcome back Kotter.
Had a slew of stickers from late 70s early 80s (everything from Superheroes to arcade game characters and assorted generic ones, but I dont recall every seeing the large Trek ones or comedy Marvel ones before. I do recall several puffy ones and a series of scented though. Fun little mini trip to the past.
I've still got my own from the 80s. I haven't looked at it in awhile, but I know there's Star Wars ones from cereal, some puffy stickers, and some of those refractive stickers you'd get from gumball machines like at a Pizza Hut.
@@BrickMantooth I don't recall what they are maybe baseball team logos or maybe surf/skate. Also remembered there's some scratch and sniff stickers in there.
Even as a kid I felt empathy for James Evans. He was married to "Florida" and his son's catch phrase was "dyno-mite". He had it rough. That aside, I appreciate the nostalgia for these stickers. As a rebellious Canadian lad in the 70s, I used to get in trouble (unjust detention and other persecutions) for putting those stickers on the cover of my notebooks! I was a hard case I guess? Lol how things change.
Saw some ones I hadn't seen before but definitely remember the joke product ones. 6:24 I think a lot of people put doll shirts on backwards, saw a Maskatron picture the same way, tbf doll clothes are like funeral suits heh. You mentioned jokes they wouldn't make anymore but even super heroes saying wacky things probably wouldn't get approval by the brand owners anymore heh. Stan Lee definitely had a good sense of humor and didn't take things too seriously.
That was awesome stickers were huge back in the day do you remember the puffy stickers? i remember having godzilla puffy stickers from the hanna barbera series
i have some epic stickers in my Year Books and clipboard...and some other odd places. Ever heard of Bud Man? he was a super-hero character for Bud Beer.
I wonder if some of the loose translucent things in there were water ‘tattoos’ .... the kind where you’d lick the back of your hand and slap them on....
@ 6:58 - I think it says "BANANA SPITS" as an obvious play on splits with the graphic of the banana spitting. Still not funny though as you implied. Great video, as always Brian.
@@BrickMantooth Thanks for replying. A great score and a really good nostalgic look at the 70s sticker craze. I found a bundle of late 70s karate/Kung Fu inspired stickers that I think you mentioned in a previous video if I remember rightly. I'd love to share them with the world but I'm not sure what medium would be best. Any ideas Brian? I also found a load of Ninjas in the style of M.u.s.c.l.e. figures (I was a bit of a martial arts fan in my youth, like the rest of the world in the 70s/80s.)

glad you dug it.
What an awesome score! The things that dreams are made of ! 👍
yeah, this is perfect for me.

I've got some of those too in an album.
@@BrickMantooth Gadzooka!

Yeah as a 70s kid I had all kinds of stickers! Definitely Wacky Packages and monster ones too I seem to remember
Wacky Packs were like currency in my playground.
the monsters i don't recognize, but Wacky Packs...LOVED THEM!!!!
So cool! What a time capsule. Glad to hear someone else was afraid of James Evans when they were a kid! 😅

Oh cool, I bought a big bag of Star Wars clippings many moons ago.

That was a brilliant video concept. What a trip down memory lane. I used to work for TV Garbage for 20+ years.
Thanks for sharing a fantastic walk down memory lane!

agreed. Such good energy.
I'm going to say that B sticker is Boston Red Sox baseball team logo

Awesome score for the $7.
I thought so, I'd have paid more.

Maybe those belonged to Patton Oswald! Would explain his humor...
Sadly, it's Oswalt. That would have been epic.
I think bum was a spin on B&M baked beans....lol
I had some of those stickers. 😊
Me too
@@krisrhood2127 Awesome! I still have my Star Trek Bridge, but I do not have my Planet of the Apes tree house. 😮💨

You should read the story about the guy that bought a ton of the original wacky pack art from topps for like nothing.a lucky man
never seen those before babe.
Fun thx
glad you liked it!
They rereleased a lot of those Wacky Packages in the 80s. I guess that's why I didn't get what half of them were supposed to be!

the Mego ...stickers? Are they paper dolls? they're larger than baseball cards, how were they packaged?
I still have my ugly stickers rubber jigglers
What?! I always pronounced it Kah-zar rather than Kay-zar as well! Even to this day! You never know what you're going to learn on RUclips.
