    I. Admire. YOU!!! Honestly I needed this video and I think I'm going to go back a few years and see your parenting videos when Esme was 5 - 6 and see your perspective then. I'm struggling with my almost 6 year old and I admire your parenting SO MUCH. I'm also trying to parent differently than I was parented as a child but I keep getting STUCK in old ways! Its so hard. Thank for this video Amanda, I loved it. ❤

My daughter is 28 and we still laugh all the time together.
When she was in middle and high-school and had trying days I would tell her to grab her bathrobe and and cozy pjs 'cause in 5 minutes there'd be a warm bubblebath waiting for her with candles and dim lighting. I'd then make her nice warm tea and a plate with a snack and bring it to the tub. She had complete privacy.
I'd then go back to the kitchen to make dinner and if she wanted to talk at bedtime, I was available.
Worked so well to get her over the grumpies.

These are all great tips. They especially hit home because much like you, I am trying to parent differently than how I was raised. Number 1, to me, is super important. I try to be extra aware of putting my phone down when my kids come to me with anything. All we can do is try to be better than what we had ❤

I have an 11 year old boy. It’s so different parenting boys and in my opinion way easier. So just know that all of this hard tween parenting will be easier and straightforward with Jack.

I've always admired your style of parenting and relationship with your children. I need to save this for in ten years time when I'm struggling, because I know I will. Breaking generational parenting trauma is so hard, and it's actually making me cry hearing your suggestions, and wishing I had received that kind of love. I wonder if that kind of parenting is partially what's drained you in the past few years, due to having to battle that previous trauma. I sure it's felt worth it though. Thanks for being you. ❤

Love this video. I have a tween, a 5 and a 3 year old. What you said about giving your all in each phase so your ready for the next chapter hit home. My husband just had the snip (decision) and my youngest is now older and I did feel a bit of sadness but I have totally gave my all. Love love love your practical advice and keeping it real x

The hormones are a real thing for girls this age, it's a huge change for them. My daughter is 15 now and everything you said is right on the money to keep the connection but allow them to grow and thrive independently. We're never going to get it right all the time but I feel like they'll appreciate the effort when they look back on this time🤞
