I did the same thing and I was already an extreme minimalist. Would be helpful to see what sort of stuff you have now for your three year old?
I tried to be minimal and now my house is overrun with baby stuff to the point that it’s stressful and 5months in I’m about to list so much on fb marketplace and I’ve given away stuff to two pregnant ladies in my family and another who’s baby is 3 months younger. Ofcourse it’s because I was blessed with a lot of my registry items being gifted and tons of handmedowns. But deff wait until baby is born to buy most things. I would say just the stroller/car seat, basinet, swaddle if you’ll use one (just one, some babies hate it), some diapers some wipes, a few bottles and the electric pump ur insurance gives you (since you will experiment later with diff pumps and bottles anyways), one can of the cleanest formula you can find so your not freaking out on the spot (true story, I didn’t get one since I was anti formula but baby got to eat, thankfully I was able to exclusively breastfeed soon after) and some burp cloths. To this day (5mo) that’s mostly what I still use, the rest is convenient or not being used at all.
I’m swedish and my classmates had their Fjällräven backpacks from first grade all the way to high school… Those backpacks are made to last. I never used cream on my babies butts, if the were red I let them air their butts until it disapered.
OMG You got a lot of stuff… We got a stroller and a crib for our first baby (18 years ago) and then we borrowed a carseat, a baby björn baby carrier and newborn clothes. We didn’t even buy diapers beforehand, we stopped at the store on the way home from the hospital to buy a pack. And with our second kid We also had to stop at the store to buy diapers etc. I don’t know if it’s superstition on my side or what but I don’t like to prepare with diapers apparently…
Also babyshowers have become more common here in the later years but they weren’t a thing when my kids were born. Instead people bring gifts when they come for the first visit after the baby is born.
Aw I love this! I was just thinking (after your last vid) how much of a transformation you’ve been through since these old videos. I watched them back when I was pregnant with my first around that same time. And I love how kind you are to yourself. I often look back at myself pre- first baby and feel so silly. But this was so sweet and also helpful as I sit here 32 weeks pregnant with #2 🥰
im so in love with your hair this length. it always looked pretty but i love this length
Note to the manual pump: I didn't buy one because my inssurance wanted to have a doctors perscription to cover it. BUT: I would have needed it on the second day after giving birth, when the milk came in. The hospital gave one to me, but for my next child, I'll get one, because having your own at home just is easier than expresing the milk by hand if you just have to much and wat some releave. It isn't that expensive so you really need your insurance to cover it. Especially if you keep it simple in the other areas
I didn’t plan on bottle feeding for a while but my son was born early and had blood sugar issues and needed to drink from a bottle because he couldn’t wait for my milk to come in. Thank goodness for Amazon and getting bottles to our house before we came home from the nicu because we had some but not the same ones the hospital used and we didn’t want to throw him off lol… you can only plan so much and then life happens 😂
Just stumbled upon your videos and it helped me alot. Now looking throught you old videos I kinda can see how your different twists and turns along the way fits into different parts of my journey aswell!
I could never get used to the diaper cream spatula, i used my finger and wiped the excess on the new diaper, works great. For the boogies, the Frida Baby 3 in 1 picker is the better-much cheaper one, my daughter is 2 and i still use it!
Whatever works for each person, right! Yeah I heard about the frida mom one! If it were out when I was pregnant, I would have gotten that for sure
In Saskatchewan it’s also recommended to swaddle! They teach techniques to new moms in the hospital.
I'm in BC, Canada, where it's also recommended to swaddle and the nurses at the hospital helped me with it as well (just a year ago). It's not recommended past a certain age, but still recommended for newborns.
I’m glad that you reacted this. 🤩🥰
I’m Albertan and swaddled to 5 months. My hospital was all about the swaddling. Strange how each place is different.
we also started with pampers because everyone swore by them but we are now a huggies family as well 😬
I don't get why people like Pampers! Huggies are so much better!
Agreeing with the other Alberta comments. I definitely didn't hear any anti swaddle stuff other than some babies dont like it. We loved swaddling!
Literally the sameeee with diapers. In the beginning I was like I need the best ever diaper and I realized it's like 99%marketing and hypoallergenic is fine. Kirkland all the way gotta save that $$😊
Totally. Costco is the only place I’ll buy diapers 😄
I’m considering the BabyBay bassinet/cosleeper for my third because I am also sick of having a terrible sleeping arrangement in those early critical months! Did you feel like the mattress was sufficient cushion? It looks quite thin. I’d love to hear your thoughts or from anyone else who has used it!
Used it the first 6 months with my little one, loved it!!! But I regret not getting the larger size because my bubs is only in the 50th percentile and it was just sooo small already by 5ish months. The quality is also very nice if pure wood is important. I found the mattress good too. I got the coconut one 😊
I love your videos and that you are posting so frequently! I had my 2nd baby about 9 weeks ago and I loved this throwback vid. It's fun seeing how much we change when we add a new baby to the mix. I'm waaaay less worried about my baby dying this time, lol. I never knew they don't recommend swaddling in Canada! My new baby doesn't like to be swaddled at all, but I did swaddle my first. I had a Snoo for my first baby and it was great but my 2nd has completely rejected it, screams just being put inside it (without it even being turned on). Thankfully it has a high re-sale value, and I bought it used to begin with.
Strange, I’m in Canada and we for sure swaddle here! I’m in alberta so maybe a provincial thing or a hospital thing?
Absolutely unrelated but can you tell me what you use for your hair? It's so so beautiful at every length and we seem to have similar hair & I want mine to be as pretty 😭
I didn’t get a pump until after baby was born even though my insurance covers it. At one point I needed an MRI with contrast though, and so I had to pump and dump for 24 hours and that was super stressful scrambling at the last minute to find a pump. I almost never use it otherwise though. Also my girls have bad eczema so we actually don’t use the baby wash and we go through loads of lotions 😅 it was easy to get after the baby was born though.
OMG I'm having an MRI next week and they told me I didn't have to worry about breastfeeding. Hmmm...
