Part of the brilliance of this show is the diversity of the panelists. There’s only one Tom Posten, Peggy Cass, Kitty Carlisle etc. All so delightfully unique. You gotta love em all.

Sad that Victor Trucco died at the young age of 51 on May 19), just four months after he appeared here. He did appear older than 51, perhaps because of his grey/white hair. All three did demonstrate a solid knowledge of opera - and the panel did well going by their questions. No chance in today's world could this episode in a panel show have ever taken place.

Game Two featured what was probably the show's most expert panel ever (and at the end of this game, Bud Collyer calls attention to that.) Footnotes: Victor Trucco died about 6 months after this show was filmed, of a heart attack while the Met was on tour. Contestant 1, Luigi Lucioni, died in 1988 at Age 87. Of Contestant 2, Mitchell Rabino, nothing more is known.

Second that emotion. An example of the game being played at its highest level...a rare treat indeed.

They were all brilliant in the second game with not one incorrect answer!

Thanks for that. So sad he passed at such a young age! They were all really excellent.

All the contestants in game 2 really knew their stuff. No hesitation from the 3 of them in answering the questions of the panel. Peggy has her own style of questioning. Bud made his job look easy. Thanks for the video.

The brilliance of this episode, especially games two and three, makes this the quintessential TTTT experience. If this was the last show they recorded before the holidays, what a great way for the producers to go off into the Christmas season.

According to wikipedia. The definition of teg is a sheep in its second year. Also hogget, old-season lamb, shearling.

I think the contestant was confusing the term for what she described which is known as a dag. It's an Australian colloquialism term for a slow witted person or a dunce but also used to describe what the contestant actually said

“According to Wikipedia”? Sorry. I will trust an expert from ago over a site that anyone may alter at any time.

@@ronflatter1235 Agree, Ron. I have found a few instances on Wikipedia over the years that are downright wrong.

I knew the witch doctor expert from his conduct on stage and predictable responses. I also guessed the black sheep lady.

Of course witchcraft has to be in ONE of these episodes (actually I've seen it more than one). I have no intention whatso ever in watching that first game :( (heaven forbid, a television show be good and clean ALL the way through to it's end)
