Thank you so much, @continentzero7572! I really enjoyed Gigi's voice and this is certainly a different interpretation. I am pretty sure I'd enjoy more of her music.
Ah! Ah! Ah! No problem at all with you expressing what you think and feel. On the contrary, that’s exactly why I’m here. Finally, a reactor who speaks their mind ! How refreshing ! Of course, if you approach this song as a song, considering its background and the mood its creators intended… you are absolutely right. Gigi didn’t sing it "correctly," but… let’s take a closer look at who Gigi is to understand what she’s doing. She’s a former child prodigy, a stage powerhouse since the age of 9 or 10, with a voice capable of winning any competition. Now approaching her thirties, she leads the typical life of a Filipinette singer, recording albums, performing concerts, appearing on the Wish Bus, and so on. But between her teenage years and now, she founded Gigi Vibes with the musicians you saw accompanying her. This video is a snippet of the sessions she has been doing for years at the request of her RUclips followers. In the comments, her fans suggest songs. She makes a list, rehearses once or twice with her band (sometimes not at all), and on weekends, she performs all the songs from her list live for an hour or two straight. Most of the time, she reads the lyrics and sheet music from a stand to her left (though sometimes she knows the song by heart). Later, she selects some of her best performances, saves them, and uploads them to RUclips. This means there’s a huge amount of improvisation involved, especially when you consider that Gigi is 80% jazz. So, if you approach what you’ve heard not as a song but as jazz (and remember, jazz has always been about twisting songs in every possible way based on the mood of the musicians and singers), then Gigi didn’t make a mistake. She sang jazz. By the way, if you ever hear Christina Aguilera’s rendition of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," you might suddenly think, "OMG, how sweet Gigi was !" Thank you for the reaction and the much-appreciated sincerity. Good to know : the big hits from Gigi Vibes : Through the Fire, Better Days, Unholy, Yesterday When I Was Young...
Thank you so much for not taking my real opinion against me. It seems we both have the same view of what a reaction should be - either say truthfully what you feel or don't react. I do agree it depends on the approach. As you know I try not to know too much in advance, so I literally reacted to what I saw and heard and you are right. If we think about the song only, it sounded odd, but if we consider that she's primarily a jazz singer, it makes sense. Funny, but I have never heard Christina Aguilera’s rendition of this song. Maybe because I generally do not listen much to Christmas songs or rather do not search for them. I know many, but it's because they're everywhere. Filipinos even have a TV channel exclusively dedicated to Christmas. And they’re not nostalgic people. They celebrate it joyfully. Here’s a collective video featuring the legendary jury from The Voice Kids, composed of the international superstar Lea Salonga (with the most beautiful diction in the world) and two Filipino stars, Sarah Geronimo and Bamboo, joined by some of their best child prodigies, like Vanjoss and the adorable Alexa Salcedo. I was introduced to Gigi a few months ago, and I think she is very talented. This isn't be best I've heard, but it's OK. I think I'm leaning more and more into the jazzy version of Christmas songs these days. But they need to be done in a chill and calm way. I guess the too happy and too cheerful, or belting becomes a little annoying to me. I think we're on the same page.
She has a nice voice but it did not put me in the Christmas spirit. The whole purpose of a Christmas song is to put you in the holiday spirit and this did not do that for me.
Seems we agree on both counts. If you watched the entire reaction, I wonder if the reason is the same for this performance not putting either of us in the holiday spirit...
As you so aptly put it, don’t watch if don’t like it. At least I wasn't insulting when I commented on Gigi, unlike your comment about something I can't even influence.

Thank you so much!
Unless someone provides me with an original Filipino Christmas song, this one will be a good addition to my plan for Christmas 2025 - originals from 14-15 countries. In the meantime, there seems to be quite a choice of songs by Gigi de Lana to hear and get to know her better.
@@AleksReacts I’m failing all my duties ! What a scandal ! Not a single Christmas song in Tagalog (for "Christmas," say "Pasko"), from the country most specialized in Christmas songs in the world !
It’s mostly in Tagalog, though with a few English words… which is inevitable in the Philippines : ruclips.net/video/wKNUGzaRjow/видео.html
It’s typically Filipino and, as I mentioned, just one song among hundreds of others dedicated to Pasko.
Honest opinion is accepted try another song she can do any genre .better days , thru the fire & saving all my love for you, all I ask , I'll be there by MJ , bring me to life live concert .hero by Mariah Carey .a lot more .
Thank you so much! Tastes differ and I am glad that we can both appreciate the beauty of her voice, even though it seems this arrangement suits you better than me. Btw, people pointed me to the other version of this song, where she sings in a black shirt, and I admit - I liked it better. Just enough improv, but not too much for my taste.
I'll gladly listen to more by Gigi. She has a very pleasant voice and seems to be a sweet young lady, too. I've jotted down the many suggestions including yours and will explore further. Thank you kindly for giving me a shot and for your comment! ❤❤❤
Don’t watch if don’t like her style. Btw r u vocal couch? Ur voice is irritating. 8:24
As you so aptly put it, don’t watch if don’t like it. At least I wasn't insulting when I commented on Gigi, unlike your comment about something I can't even influence.
Same to you!
@@AleksReacts Do you better understand now what I mean by "religiosity"?
Thank you both! 🥰
Mr. Zero, oh yes!
