    Thank you for making this comparison.
    From what I can see in the video, for this specific game at this specific 1.0 release version, I personally like SDR better as it's more balanced overall.
    The HDR has some light sources looking really bright, but then the other parts of the image are noticeably washed out.
    Thanks again for making these videos. It really helps to see which games are worth playing in HDR

    Hey man! I really appreciate your videos and have used your settings on my lg CX for over a year now with great results. I was wondering if your recommendation for keeping FTDA at -4 on gta5 ps5 still stands? I first became aware of this setting in your diablo 4 videos and kept it -whatever you said then, but since an updated video you said the game got fixed, so i turned it back to 0. I want the best possible picture over all in all my content, including movies/tv shows while changing as little as possible, so putting it shortly: -4 or 0? I wont keep switching in every game going forwards, so i guess this is just a general setting question. It makes a very small difference, but i figured i might as well ask. Thanks for the work you do, and I am very fortunate you have my tv specifically so i know exactly what to change!

Ive seen way way more games that are so so much worse.

Sometimes the impact of the brightness is nice for sure but I prefer this more subtle real approach of purely brightening specific areas that should have more pop then others. Aka highlights. I hate hdr that raises the black floor and or lowers gamma to give off a more perceived brighter effect.

  • @diamonds972
    @diamonds972 Месяц назад +4

    The main reason some people believe that SDR (Standard Dynamic Range) is better than HDR (High Dynamic Range) at night and in indoor scenes is due to how HDR renders darkness. In HDR mode, the night can look washed out and gray, lacking true blacks. Some might argue that, similar to many Dolby Vision films, this incomplete black is an artistic choice and intentional. However, this doesn’t mean it appeals to everyone, especially for those with OLED screens, where this issue can be more noticeable. While HDR does have obvious advantages, particularly in daytime scenes like sunlight, sunrises, and sunsets, which look stunning if you have a display capable of maintaining high brightness without aggressive ABL (Automatic Brightness Limiting), it’s difficult to definitively say that HDR is better in a game like RDR2, which was developed over many years with SDR in mind. Personally, I have three OLED TVs - the LG CX, E6, and the SONY QD-OLED A95K - and especially on the A95K HDR looks amazing, with the panel's clarity being unprecedented compared to WRGB OLEDs. It’s hard for me to say that HDR is definitely better in a game like RDR2. I think HDR shows its strengths here, but SDR is more aligned with the original artistic vision of the game.

    • @anitaremenarova6662
      @anitaremenarova6662 Месяц назад +2

      I have the opposite issue, HDR gives me true darkness which can be counterproductive while playing videogames even if it's more accurate to real life. To each their own I guess, though I still believe HDR is always superior if implemented properly.

    People might have external programs disrupting game HDR, it happened to me in ER when something popped up the screen became extremely washed out and much, much worse than SDR. If you're running HDR through in-game settings and not something like Nvidia RTX HDR always make sure to close any apps that might interfere with the game by adding an overlay or something of that nature.

    I can see a clear difference here, hdr has a lot more detail, contrast and color information, especiallly in scenes with larger variances between dark and bright.
    I have a question, and I don't think anyone is talking about it but the 'color temperature control' setting in AMD's gpu software is on by default and completely ruins colors from what i can tell (even with custom color disabled, need to toggle 'custom color' to enabled then disable 'color temperature control'). Turning this off appears to fix washed out hdr and looks way more realistic. And even in SDR mode, it fixes colors in a completely opposite way, colors looked really oversaturated to me when windows is in sdr mode until i disabled this setting. Someone here know about this? Has anyone tested this setting?
