This is one of my fav bsides from them, i was obsessed with the song when the album dropped... XH just have that something with dropping perfect halloweenish songs that i love
This is truly my favorite bside of Overload. I know lots of people said it gave them 'Nightmare before Christmas' vibe, but I also kinda see some 'Stranger Things' (s1 & s2) vibes, with this idea of innocence getting corrupted and something that brought joy ultimately becoming a bad memory aka Christmas/Halloween. When it comes to the lore there's a couple of theories out there, the most popular being the one which says that Gaon became corrupted by the same virus of bForm, making him ultimately hack and stole Jooyeon's avatar during Overload, to the point you can see both of them styled in an almost exact same way in Haircut MV. Subsequently, Ode realises something's wrong within bForm and his bandmates, to the point he tries to scape by stabbing a mirror but ended up failing and making that bForm "level" (Dream Garden) falling apart as well as Gaon to discover him. There's many more things I'd like to say, but for you to understand it more you'll probably need to take a look to this playlist, which include not only their main MVs from each era but also something called 'Origin of Xdinary Heroes' that shows how they discovered bForm and ended up becoming a band there, along with the Deadlock Highlight Medley since it has a small chunk of lore too!! Can't wait for you to give a listen to Deadlock, it's such a good album ^^ ruclips.net/p/PLCNgFzzvCLvESUJmgJbmy5MdOmtAylzzj&si=wgZHwhysdxk5OnMg
The comparison with xikers is so interesting. Because I hadn't noticed it before but I really do see it, more so with this mini album in particular. If there's one thing I've come to realize with their discography, is that they're all pretty distinct and each evoke different vibes from one another. I've come to appreciate the variety. Everyone's hyping deadlock but it's for good reason, it's a solid record (and plus there's many band performances!). I'm looking forward to seeing ya'll react to it. ✨️
Xdinary heroes actually have a lore, I don't understand all of it, but it's really interesting and their mvs kind of connect. Happy death day shows how they first found eachother through b form, an internet platform that makes them a band and they start making music. A theory is, that they performed at the birthday party to raise money for their projects. In the b form city (?) they start to perform on rooftops and people start to recognise and and gain fans, but the b form bosses/government is annoyed by them. Then the test me mv shows how they are ready to 'fight' against other bands, but get sabotaged and loose. They return to their base, hack the system and sneak into the competition. They win, but are now wanted by the police. After hiding for a while and basically going a bit insane they go to the dream garden in the hair cut mv, where they meet their fans, but slowly take their role of beeing portrayed as the bad guys, so they destroy everything and are going crazy. Somone reports them to the police, which leads them to the freaking bad mv. They're hiding again and now completely embrace their role as villains, like 'You think we're the bad ones? So we will be the bad ones.' But someone seems to know more and they're unsure if they can turst eachother, they're watched and when they perform at a mall the police caughs them. That's why in the break the brake mv they're in a prison train, they try to escape by fighting taking iver the train and going over the borders and brake free from the endless virtual simulation. Something that always seems important is the rebellion against systems and controll by other people. This might not all be completely true, but this is what I interpret from putting different theorys and details together.
Xdinary Heroes does have a lore based in the "Flatform", which is a virtual reality world (kinda has a Ready Player One feel to me). And for the record, Xdinary Heroes debuted a year and a half BEFORE Xikers. Thanks for reviewing them, I love every piece of music they create! "Again? Again!" is my all time favorite now.
Finally, a new reaction to XH! Still, in my opinion, "Hello World!" and "Overload" are the most unique albums with a special sound of xdinary heroes, in "Deadlock" and "Livelock" SOME songs resemble the music of various famous foreign bands (I still love absolutely all their songs). I really hope that one day you will react to their covers of Immortal Songs - "Mother's Heart in Seoul" and Immortal Songs2- "Why Calling", because they are really amazing and they are able to surprise you!
ahhh i was hoping you would react to the performance video instead of a lyric video!! i feel like it adds so much. I love all of overload but this is defiantly one of my favs
Ahhhhg! This is still my favorite album after watching and listening it again this time with you guys! This album hits different. Thank you so much!! 🖤🖤🖤
Thx always for xdiz reactions! I cannot wait for deadlock and then livelock. I had to laugh when you said something about it being ‚good enough‘ since that’s the title to one of the bsides of deadlock…
You guys are gonna love Deadlock, but they also dropped another album Livelock that I'm also so excited to see your reactions too!!!

Livelock album, in my opinion, is their best

Before every album is released they release a "highlight song sampler" that shows a short visual clip for each song if you want a visual guide!!
