Stray kids got less than 2 days to prepare their performance for VMAs just before this they were on their japan tour they didn't got enough time but still they made it and I am glad that they chose S class to perform at VMAs and it was best for me, They are working literally non stop and again their comback is coming. as someone who doesn’t enjoy pop music in general, stray kids music surprisingly very enjoyable for my ears. this performance is not my favorite by them but music wise.. damn.. I love how chaotic and complex the music is.. and it is also aggressive in a unique way.. LOVE IT
Why you compare totally different croups. Stray Kids make and prodused their own music. Their live performances are amazing and totally different than other K pop groups. They just have 3 Billboard number one place and performt Paris Lollabaloosa about 65.000 thousan people. Respect to BTS, but they have different style. As a big hiphop fan & retired dancer, STRAY KiDS music resonates w/me more than any other kpop group. They have an amazing rap line. Their dance practice videos could rival many professional dance crews, they are that good. (BTS has been too poppy for me) STRAY KIDS also produce all their own beats & music so mad respect. Their discography is worth checking out. My Hiphop & rap favorites: HEYDAY, 3RACHA, TOPLINE, MUDDY WATER, DOMINO, EASY, CHARMER, MANIAC, VENOM, FREEZE, S-Class, ***if you really want to see their dancing skills you need to see their performance videos or practice videos. I can’t agree with you more. With all due respect to BTS l find that a lot of people dismiss other KPop male bands as if the world just revolves around one band coming out of Korea. Personally Stray Kids resonates with me more because they are not afraid to step out of the KPop comfort zone and be themselves and they don’t answer to anyone but to the truth of their music.
I've honestly never been a Fan of BTS with all due respect as well. Same reason, I don't care for how Pop they are. Stray kids reminds me of the kind of music I grew up with; along with its own diverse flair. 😊 My favorite groups are Stray Kids, ATEEZ, and Enhypen. Girl group wise I like Fifty Fifty, and New Jeans. 😊 I enjoy how these groups feel more like they do their own thing. BTS helped people realize the work K pop groups do by unlocking the door. But Stray kids kicked the door open. 😂

Stray Kids has got No.1 on Billboard 200 3 times, so quite successful. Their music is unique as they produce themselves. This was not my favorite performance by Stray Kids, but at least they did some remixes, and they have tried to make the performance special for the VMAs. Btw. their MVs are crazy!! It’s worth to check them out.
I think the camera didn’t show the choreography as well as other times. I’ve watched them do this in person in concert when you can see the moves better. They usually only dance with all 8.
BTS definitely uses back-up dancers! You just havent seen all their performances 😂 in fact, a member of Stray Kids used to be one. Stray Kids are heavy hip hop influenced and are one of the BEST dance groups out there. Plus they write and produce all their music which is something you dont find in the vast majority of kpop groups. Please check out their S Class MV and their 2022 MAMA performance of Venom & Maniac, where they showcased more dancing. Another great MV for dancing is Thunderous. To be fair even the stray kids fans were complaining about the camera work not doing the performance justice and the lighting blowing out some of the big wow moments. But I do encourage you to check out some of their dance practice videos - Domino in particular is a great example.
I would love for you to react to their performance at the 2022 Mama Awards when they showcased Venom and Maniac the best live performances I’ve ever seen as well as the 2020 one. They are self produced with over 150 songs to their credit ranging from rap, hip hop, rock, electro pop, in fact any genre and are quite innovative in the KPop world. They have 3 no 1 on the Billboard 200 and their last album sold just over 5 million in just a month of release.
The camera work and angles were a real let down, but hardly surprising given that its the VMAs. You want to see Stray kids perform live on the MAMA awards show. Back to back songs, full choreography, and mics on. Stray kids concerts can go up to four hours and sellbout domes in minutes. Also, you cannot compare Stray kids to BTS just because that is all you know. The fandoms are very passionate about that. They are completely different groups. Stray kids discography covers over 42 different genres and has the respect of the industry, with their lasr 3 albums going to number 1 on Billboard 200, with 5 Star selling over 5.13 million copies globally. They are close to 6 billion streams on spotify and one if the hardest working groups currently.

First of all I don't appreciate you comparing any group to BTS. They are different. Just because you are not familiar with asian music does not mean you should compare them. That is like comparing apples to oranges. Every group has their own unique colors even if the western pop culture. It is like comparing 2puk to snoop dog, or Boys 2 men to New Kids on the Block. That is just wrong. I am sorry you have missed out on Stray Kids because you are just focused on BTS or Black Pink. I will agree this performance was not their most hyped performance but it is also hard to see the video because of the camera angles and lights that diminished some of the dance. This song has been on the billboard 200 for 13 consecutive weeks and the 3rd song from the last 3 albums to hit #1 on Billboard 200. This album 5-star is the first ever in k-pop history currently to every have over 5million pre order sales for an album. Not only that they are a self produced group, meaning they write, compose, arrange and produce 99.9% of their own music. 3 members being the youngest members to have the most accredit songs under their belt for the 4th generation of k-pop. 2 members are from Australia. They are not like BTS, they are STRAY KIDS not every k-pop group are going to be like another group they have their own colors and style of music. That does not mean one is better than the other it is just different. I understand if you like something else cause you like what you like. But don't expect every group out of Korea to be like BTS. That being said you also can't judge a group off of one live performance or video. I have been to their concert and they are amazing and give 200% of their all and it is very energetic and hyped. I love both BTS and Stray Kids and all other k-pop groups. They give it 100% of their all and have perfected the art of entertainment and amazing music. Stray kids have some of the best choro that is complex and very energetic. I can tell you this video you can't really see what is going on with the flashing lights and low quality of the performance video. They just released their 2nd full album 5-star in June 2023 and they did 2 tours, released Japanese album in 2023, and getting ready to drop their 2nd Korean album in November. Their m/v are the best with amazing transitions and put out more music videos per album besides they title track. 5-star album has 12 tracks and 6 tracks have music videos. Bang Chan the leader trained for 7 years starting at age 13, He is the first every in k-pop history where their company JYP let him hand pick all his members before putting them through a realty elimination survival tv show called stray kids in 2017. 2nd Just because they have dancers does not mean they are trying to make up any flaws. They had them to enhance the performance to go with their choro. I really respect your opinions on what you like or don't like, but I just don't like the comparison to other k-pop groups.
Well said as l have commented before with due respect to BTS it gets a bit tiresome when all you hear is that the world revolves around around one particular group coming out of Korea and no respect is given to all the wonderful talented bands out there as well.
Comparing groups isn’t something that kpop fans will go for. Stray kids have the hardest choreography in the industry. Having back up dancer or not doesn’t mean they were trying to “cover stuff up”. Please check out more videos before making this decision. They are the hottest kpop group. They have a lot of dance practice videos you can check out too. Domino being one to really show their choreography.

I really blame the crappy camera work for why the video wasn’t as good. The VMA cameras could not handle the lighting and a lot of the fine details were missed.
Corey...to you. I may be wrong but BTS is Seven not Six. Also, you are completely incorrect, BTS do use backup dancers. Stray Kids LEE KNOW used to be one of them. He not only toured Japan with them but also appeared in MVs with them. They have backup dancers in their MVs too. Stray Kids do not. But enough of that. The one thing I love about the groups in K-pop, is they support each other. Stray kids love BTS, they look up to them. The difference between the two? BTS are the leaders in the 3rd Gen. Stray Kids are the leaders in the 4th Gen. BTS paved the way, Stray Kids will dominate. They already broke the records with their last album accumulating 5.13 million albums in pre-sales and a further 2 million within the first week I think it was. BTS record was 4.02 million putting them in 3rd behind Seventeen. This may change when the young men return from service but right now, Stray Kids are a real force in K-POP and what's more... they are only 22 to 25yo. Bang Chan left his life in Australia, including his family, at the age of 13 to pursue his dream. He, Changbin and Han are ranked 1st, 2nd and 3rd for the most songs for 4th gen with KOMCHA. They are the youngest full-fledged members of KOMCHA with rights to vote etc. Bang Chan is ranked 9th among all artists covered by Komcha. He has grown into a monster performer. I love his style of RAP. His singing is developing beautifully and he is the 1st prince of K-pop for visuals and dance. He moves like water, fluidly. He is also a LLAMA, drama llama, but we love him for it 😅 He just turned 23 in March. FELIX, Australian, always loved to dance. Moved to Korea by himself when he was 17 without knowing Korean. He is the deep voice and our Sunshine. He is regularly found rapping on the tracks but lately has more singing parts. His range goes from low to high and is known for beat boxing and being the most non-annoying mosquito. 😅 He turned 23 the day after HAN. We call them our sunshine twins. SEUNGMIN, Korean. Has the most unique vocal tone. Very serious/diligent artist, always strives for improvement and just when you think he's the best he can be he surprises us again. Has several OSTs for K DRAMAS and is my favourite singer in the group. He also turns 23 this month. I.N. (YANG JEONG-IN) Korean. The MAKNAE (Youngest) of the group. Funnily enough probably the most mature, lol. He also has a unique vocal tone, very expressive with stage presence, can eat a whole ass pizza slice in one bite, 😅 Loves TROT music and is simply adorable. He turned 22 in February. All the members can sing, dance, RAP and write songs. Along with 3RACHA some members are also learning production skills. That is my intro to my boys. For further details I suggest you watch TEANOSUGAR 2023. It's long but STAYS will sit through it with you. Maybe just add a little explanation of the difference between 3rd and 4th generation, they probably don’t know what it means. I have a question, who else is learning how to produce music? It's not jumping out at me. It was a passing remark during a live. I thought it was Seungmin but it may have indeed been Hyunjin. Given that Chan encourages their development, I don't doubt that they are being trained.
Their music videos are always top teir, and they usually do between 4-6 music videos per album, plus they drop random Music videos between albums for fun. You should check out the music video for God’s Menu, or Too Line if you want to know who they are as musicians.
I’m not sure if Stray Kids will be your cup of tea music wise. They are loud and aggressive but can be soft. They are nothing like the other group as they found their own niche. They are considered noise music and are pretty hated by Kpop fandoms because they do it their way. They were criticized heavily for this performance and this song and people thought they should have done something more pleasing for the Americans. The thing is, Stray Kids have always done it their way and will continue to walk their own path. That is Stray Kids❤❤❤❤ You either love them or hate them and they could care less

For a live performance I suggest the mamas 2022 performance of venom & maniac. S-Class is a good song but maybe not the best to start out with. Plus they remix thier songs for every award show performance. You should check out Gods Menu, Thounderous, Backdoor, Maniac or many more. They are a very unique group in Kpop. They are 99% self produced. They write their own lyrics, do thier own beats and have a hand in choreography and theme of their releases. They have a deep discography. If you didn't like this one you can check out many more. Their Japanese videos do not have subtitles but all their other ones do. Their lyrics are deeper than what you see at first and they don't shy away from topics that may be hard to tackle. I hope you check out more. Oh and their fans are called STAYs. They are called STAYs because if you take the "r" from Stray Kids you have STAY, they are the reason they are stray kids. At the of all their korean released videos they have the words "Stray Kids all around the world you make Stray Kids Stay" I hope you enjoy more of the guys!
Stray Kids are incredible! I've seen them live twice and they were the best concerts I've ever seen! I will say if you're looking for BTS' sound/vibes they're nothing like them. However, SKZ has a huge and varied discography with something for everyone.

Thank you for reacting to Stray Kids. They are a self produced group that goes against the norm in kpop. They are not for everyone and aren't trying to be. They are showing Kpop is pop music not one style. Stylistically they are different from BTS and this group is known for some of the most unique, hard and high energy choreo. One point BTS does use dancers. In fact a member of Stray Kids was a pro dancer before joining the group and danced with BTS. BUT all opinion and preferences are respected. I hope you check out their MVs and more live performances. This group is just different and had a slower start because they were different. In fact their fandom is made more of fans across the globe than even in Korea.
I’ll be real with you, the VMAs did an awful job at their camera work. Check out their dance practice of this song. And… BTS absolutely does use background dancers, because one of the members in Stray kids was their backup dancer. And objectively, Stray kids are overall stronger dancers than BTS with more synchronization, and I prefer their full choreos. I would watch other lives or dance practices before judging. They are just different. I’d check out Maniac and the dance practice.
Please note: the VMAs did a terrible job of shooting them! They missed a lot of key moves and it was so annoying for us STAYs (fandom name) to watch the VMAs butcher the performance they worked very hard on. Please watch the music video and dance practice of their song S-Class please and give them another chance to prove to you that they are worth all the hype.

Camera work missed a lot of key components of the performance. I watched many live performances of this same song and you can tell the cameramen know the song before filming so they can point the camera to the correct performer at the right moment. I felt this was lazy camera work. You couldn’t even see one of the main rapper’s part which was unfortunate. During I. N’s stunt where her gets picked up at the back, all we see are big flashing lights. Personally it felt like the VMAs couldn’t handle or weren’t ready for a huge performance like this. (My opinion) Please watch the actual mv and follow with dance performance. These kids do everything themselves, they are young geniuses. Stray Kids have their own genre, I don’t consider them the traditional Kpop, after listening to more of their songs and dance practices you will understand why you can’t compare them to other groups. As their song says “they’re special”.
Honestly stray kids are younger than BTS debuting 4yrs later. Not only that but if they were all the same what would make them stand out so why would they play follow the leader. They look up to BTS as seniors so it's not fair to compare them but stray kids are really monsters in their own right with their own style which tends to have a harder almost punk rockish kpop vibe. But they also write most all their own stuff produce, direct, and mix their own beats. But there videos are next level by far even over BTS in my opinion! Which is why they won a vma. The video for s class is off the frickin chain fire so I hope you look deeper than just the shadow BTS leaves over kpop. I love BTS as well but I also love all kpop in general and stray kids are top 3 along with BTS, SHINee, and 4th would be ateez currently.
I love stray kids. Much more than BTS. In fact BTS doesnt even included in my “favorite” kpop group, and I’ve been a fan of kpop for about 22 years now, so trust me, i know a lot of kpop group. But I do love some of BTS songs and I know they are great. BUT I DO agree with Corey that this performance is not “the best” but that is because I KNOW FOR A FACT they can do better and I’ve seen a lot of other performances by stray kids that are far way better than this performance. Im not saying this performance is not good. It is good, but stray kids has better performances than this. Yet, I also agree, that whatever it is, this performance is still great considering few reasons that im sure other Stays will tell in their comments. Having said that, this open to another discussion which is, this is why, you need to check more on stray kids. Watching this performance only doesnt give justice to them. And actually comparing them to BTS is not fair either, being that, their songs are basically different genre and all. And once u get to know stray kids more, u will just fall in love and like them more and more, knowing what they can do, how they started it all, and their journey up to being where they are now. They dont really have backup dancers in all their performances, just like BTS also have backup dancers in a lot of their performances. For example, BTS’s epic Run performance, they had a stage full of backup dancers, but that doesnt mean they are not a good dancer. The same goes with Stray kids, they need backup dancer for this performance simply because it fits the concept, and they do have tons of performances just 8 of them singing and dancing without backup dancers that are as good as having backup dancers if not better. I feel like part of the issue was the camera work at the VMAs it didn't showcase their choreo as well as it could have. I admit I'm totally biased, I thought it was spectacular lol. But the Stray Kids are worth checking out ... and thank you for watching their performance!

I respect your opinions. I don’t mind the comparisons to bts . I mean it is what it is with regards to that and inevitable. The only rebuttal to it for me would be that Stray kids bring their own uniqueness in comparison to bts . Especially when it comes to sound or at least it does for me. I like bts but i really like that stray kids have their own flavor and way of performing than bts and I think that’s one of their biggest strengths honestly. I love the reaction. This performance and the VMAs was a great intro to folks not familiar with kpop or Stray Kids. To me they KILLED this stage. Their choreography was amazing, despite Corey's opinion. For the scale, that stage of the VMAs really not fully representative of their abilities. If you want another performance video to react to, then perhaps check out Stray Kids in their 2022 MAMA Performance of Venom and Maniac. You want scale, performance, and choreo, that stage is a better representation of what Stray Kids is all about. This group is the one that dragged me into kpop rabbit hole. I love the fact that they are self produced and have had a say in almost every song in their 175+ song discography. Not bad for 8 young men who are all under 26. Thanks for the reaction. Lol I would say watch more performances and dance practices, as they are one op the top tier groups and best dancers 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻 . Keep in mind they did VMA while they are in the middle of a full Japan Dome Tour so they did amazing for limited rehearsal time. They write and produce their own music under 3Racha and all members have contributed 💚. I would suggest Their Dome Tour performances especially BattleGround and SuperBowl

They also were in mid Dome tour and had to practice within 48hrs for the VMAs. Ive seen many live performances and they are top tier. I recommend you watch some of those that are already recommended here and some of their MVs as well. Hope you check them out .
I recommend watching dance practice of Domino, Maniac, Lalalala, Case 143, and Thunderous, if you want to see how well they do choreography. 😊 In my personal opinion, Hyunjin, Lee Know, (stray kids) and Niki (Enhypen) are currently some of the best dancers in Kpop of the younger generation (Lee Know actually used to be a back up dancer for BTS if I remember correctly. Before he became apart of Stray kids. Which is crazy because he also has a beautiful singing voice.) I agree with a comment I saw that the camera doesn't capture all their dancing. They practiced really hard for this performance as well. There's videos of them doing so for VMAs. The recent Golden Disc awards also show a great full performance. They have to also take into account their energy because they Never lip sync. They always perform live. 😊
Yeah I’m coming for YOU lol. First of all, BTS does have back up dancers. Lee Know from Stray Kids actually used to be one of their back up dancers. They only had like 2 days to practice if that for this performance since they were touring in Japan. They self produce and write their own music. S-Class is their title song and it’s broke records so why would they not perform it? Were you expecting acrobatic choreography? Because they can do that too. BTS has like 5 years on Stray Kids and their music is different. You will never be open minded if you are stuck on BTS and will always compare them to other groups. I actually understand the critique for the choreography for this song. The choreography reads really well upclose in an MV, small stage, or for a dance challenge. But because the moves are small and precise (attempting it is honestly a physical and mental challenge) its not necessarily made for huge stages and wide angle shots. But in that regard, sometimes you just can't will them all. The choreo for the chorus is very popular and iconic, so changing it would alienate the fans. As for the comparisons to BTS, they are very, very good performers, but even BTS use backup dancers. Extra dancers can help fill a stage, aid in story telling, build pictures and scenes, and create points of focus. But an important element is camera work still. The camera work here missed huge moments with an entire rap solo from Han being missed almost emtirely for random shots of backup dancers. I think the camera operator's and directors were a bit lost in the sauce there which is unfortunate because Han is a great performer. Ultimately, I really think you should react to their MVs or other performances. Oftentimes, I feel Western award shows don't know how to film and light kpop acts the way korean shows do. It makes a huge difference.
I feel like bands shouldn't be compared especially because every band is different. Please dont limit your comparison to just Bts, because they are not the precedent. I appreciate the reactions. I feel like to give the best criticism tho would be to base them on them solely. They have worked very hard to be different, and in fact are completely unique. No hate. Just my 2 cents. Everyone has their own opinion. but there is no need to compare groups. because they are all different. you can't really compare them from this performance, the camera work on this performance was not great and you couldn't really see the choreography because of that. You need to watch some of there dance practices, and other live performances before you judge them
Check out their dance practice or Be Original 4K version. I didn't like male Kpop group before but their performance blew me away. As a musician and a retired dancer myself, I just can't stop admiring them👍 They make and arrange songs while thinking of dancing performing that's why they are soo on point and very unique. Totally different level uniqueness. They are not Kpop, they are Straykids. My recommendations: "thunderous" , "God's Menu" , "Back Door" , "Domino"
On a side note I noticed ur intro was a version of This or That from Black Sheep, FYI the hiphop portion of this performance with the rewind sound was remixed by the leader Bang Chan to pay homage to the 50 yrs of hiphop tribute, if you listen closely the very low base beat is a slight slower BPM of the original base tracking from The Choice is Yours by Black Sheep. That's why that beat sounds so familiar to us 80s kids. ❤❤❤ Just thought you should know. 😊

5:05 Just to let you know that is Bang Chan (oldest/leader) of the group and the guy with the deep voice is FELIX, they’re both Korean-Australian. Im you heard the news about three of the members being in a minor car collision … no one got seriously injured, obtained some bruises and whiplash but they’re all okay but of course the media will blow it up overdramatized the whole incident to gain readers and followers.

To me, the camera work was lacking and its quite unclear who is in the group and who isnt it. Stray kids rarely uses back up dancers. Please find other songs - either live or mv's - to really look at and then form your opinion. 😊
honestly, when a kpop group performs in a western stage, im not expecting them to capture the whole picture of the performance. they have sh*tty camera works. they're like MAMA actually, just capturing random/weird angle, always have to include the audience especially during the important parts. you're better off watching dance practice than watching the actual performance video

Bts does use dancers,cause a member of stray kıds was one of them. Not to mention skz had live vocals. You really need to see some videos to really judge fairly
There's already too much toxicity in this comment section, and i refuse to add to that toxicity. But i would like to suggest checking more of their live performances. Their choreo is always on point. I think you guys would enjoy their live performance of megaverse, sclass, and hall of fame at the Golden Disc Awards. You are entitled to your own opinion but remember back up dancers add to the performance not take away and Lee Know, our lead dance in Stray Kids was a backup dancer for BTS before stray kids was formed.

Thank you for your honest feedback. You shouldn't just jump on a band wagon just because they are one of the best.. Everyone has their own taste in performances and music. You comparing BTS to Stray Kids is comparing apples to oranges. Also, there is 7 in BTS.. just helping with facts. I think because the world (VMA world) has previously only had BTS, you don't really have a full perspective on what is out there ( Like you said). The Kpop world doesn't really like to compare, and we don't really like to hear it because you really can't. They are so different in every way. But anyway... I can go on and on about how amazing SKZ is, but it's pointless. I SEE STAY ALREADY DOING IT IN THE COMMENTS LOL. They are what got me in, and my ult. Stray kids got less than 2 days to prepare their performance for VMAs just before this they were on their japan tour they didn't got enough time but still they made it and I am glad that they chose S class to perform at VMAs and it was best for me, They are working literally non stop and again their comback is coming. As a big hiphop fan & retired dancer, STRAY KiDS music resonates w/me more than any other kpop group. They have an amazing rap line. Their dance practice videos could rival many professional dance crews, they are that good. (BTS has been too poppy for me) STRAY KIDS also produce all their own beats & music so mad respect. Their discography is worth checking out. My Hiphop & rap favorites: HEYDAY, 3RACHA, TOPLINE, MUDDY WATER, DOMINO, EASY, CHARMER, MANIAC, VENOM, FREEZE, S-Class, ***if you really want to see their dancing skills you need to see their performance videos or practice videos. The camera work at VMA'S was sh!t.
I can’t agree with you more. With all due respect to BTS l find that a lot of people dismiss other KPop male bands as if the world just revolves around one band coming out of Korea. Personally Stray Kids resonates with me more because they are not afraid to step out of the KPop comfort zone and be themselves and they don’t answer to anyone but to the truth of their music.

Stray Kids has got No.1 on Billboard 200 3 times, so quite successful. Their music is unique as they produce themselves. This was not my favorite performance by Stray Kids, but at least they did some remixes, and they have tried to make the performance special for the VMAs. Btw. their MVs are crazy!! It’s worth to check them out.
I think the camera didn’t show the choreography as well as other times. I’ve watched them do this in person in concert when you can see the moves better. They usually only dance with all 8.

BTS definitely uses back-up dancers! You just havent seen all their performances 😂 in fact, a member of Stray Kids used to be one.
Stray Kids are heavy hip hop influenced and are one of the BEST dance groups out there. Plus they write and produce all their music which is something you dont find in the vast majority of kpop groups.
Please check out their S Class MV and their 2022 MAMA performance of Venom & Maniac, where they showcased more dancing. Another great MV for dancing is Thunderous.

To be fair even the stray kids fans were complaining about the camera work not doing the performance justice and the lighting blowing out some of the big wow moments. But I do encourage you to check out some of their dance practice videos - Domino in particular is a great example.
I would love for you to react to their performance at the 2022 Mama Awards when they showcased Venom and Maniac the best live performances I’ve ever seen as well as the 2020 one. They are self produced with over 150 songs to their credit ranging from rap, hip hop, rock, electro pop, in fact any genre and are quite innovative in the KPop world. They have 3 no 1 on the Billboard 200 and their last album sold just over 5 million in just a month of release.
The camera work and angles were a real let down, but hardly surprising given that its the VMAs. You want to see Stray kids perform live on the MAMA awards show. Back to back songs, full choreography, and mics on.
Stray kids concerts can go up to four hours and sellbout domes in minutes.
Also, you cannot compare Stray kids to BTS just because that is all you know. The fandoms are very passionate about that. They are completely different groups.
Stray kids discography covers over 42 different genres and has the respect of the industry, with their lasr 3 albums going to number 1 on Billboard 200, with 5 Star selling over 5.13 million copies globally.
They are close to 6 billion streams on spotify and one if the hardest working groups currently.
I totally agree that the the camera angles and cuts really didn't help this performance at all. They are much better than these shots shown!

First of all I don't appreciate you comparing any group to BTS. They are different. Just because you are not familiar with asian music does not mean you should compare them. That is like comparing apples to oranges. Every group has their own unique colors even if the western pop culture. It is like comparing 2puk to snoop dog, or Boys 2 men to New Kids on the Block. That is just wrong. I am sorry you have missed out on Stray Kids because you are just focused on BTS or Black Pink. I will agree this performance was not their most hyped performance but it is also hard to see the video because of the camera angles and lights that diminished some of the dance. This song has been on the billboard 200 for 13 consecutive weeks and the 3rd song from the last 3 albums to hit #1 on Billboard 200. This album 5-star is the first ever in k-pop history currently to every have over 5million pre order sales for an album. Not only that they are a self produced group, meaning they write, compose, arrange and produce 99.9% of their own music. 3 members being the youngest members to have the most accredit songs under their belt for the 4th generation of k-pop. 2 members are from Australia. They are not like BTS, they are STRAY KIDS not every k-pop group are going to be like another group they have their own colors and style of music. That does not mean one is better than the other it is just different. I understand if you like something else cause you like what you like. But don't expect every group out of Korea to be like BTS. That being said you also can't judge a group off of one live performance or video. I have been to their concert and they are amazing and give 200% of their all and it is very energetic and hyped. I love both BTS and Stray Kids and all other k-pop groups. They give it 100% of their all and have perfected the art of entertainment and amazing music. Stray kids have some of the best choro that is complex and very energetic. I can tell you this video you can't really see what is going on with the flashing lights and low quality of the performance video. They just released their 2nd full album 5-star in June 2023 and they did 2 tours, released Japanese album in 2023, and getting ready to drop their 2nd Korean album in November. Their m/v are the best with amazing transitions and put out more music videos per album besides they title track. 5-star album has 12 tracks and 6 tracks have music videos. Bang Chan the leader trained for 7 years starting at age 13, He is the first every in k-pop history where their company JYP let him hand pick all his members before putting them through a realty elimination survival tv show called stray kids in 2017.
2nd Just because they have dancers does not mean they are trying to make up any flaws. They had them to enhance the performance to go with their choro. I really respect your opinions on what you like or don't like, but I just don't like the comparison to other k-pop groups.
Well said as l have commented before with due respect to BTS it gets a bit tiresome when all you hear is that the world revolves around around one particular group coming out of Korea and no respect is given to all the wonderful talented bands out there as well.
Comparing groups isn’t something that kpop fans will go for. Stray kids have the hardest choreography in the industry. Having back up dancer or not doesn’t mean they were trying to “cover stuff up”. Please check out more videos before making this decision. They are the hottest kpop group. They have a lot of dance practice videos you can check out too. Domino being one to really show their choreography.

The focus of their performances isn't always exactly dancing but live vocals and they remix their songs everytime and do litttle change ups, what you guys heard is a remixed version of S class, although it's not too far from the original that wasn't the original dance break or instrumental

Also, you are completely incorrect, BTS do use backup dancers. Stray Kids LEE KNOW used to be one of them. He not only toured Japan with them but also appeared in MVs with them. They have backup dancers in their MVs too. Stray Kids do not.
But enough of that. The one thing I love about the groups in K-pop, is they support each other. Stray kids love BTS, they look up to them.
The difference between the two? BTS are the leaders in the 3rd Gen. Stray Kids are the leaders in the 4th Gen.
BTS paved the way, Stray Kids will dominate. They already broke the records with their last album accumulating 5.13 million albums in pre-sales and a further 2 million within the first week I think it was. BTS record was 4.02 million putting them in 3rd behind Seventeen. This may change when the young men return from service but right now, Stray Kids are a real force in K-POP and what's more... they are only 22 to 25yo. Bang Chan left his life in Australia, including his family, at the age of 13 to pursue his dream. He, Changbin and Han are ranked 1st, 2nd and 3rd for the most songs for 4th gen with KOMCHA. They are the youngest full-fledged members of KOMCHA with rights to vote etc. Bang Chan is ranked 9th among all artists covered by Komcha.

His vocal coach suggested he try out rapping due to his vocal tone and a genius was created. Flow switches, cadences.... unbelievable. He has over 135 songs registered with KOMCHA, which puts him right behind Channie. He just turned 24 in August.
HAN. Born in Korea but grew up in Malaysia. He is the ACE of K-pop. He doesn't just RAP, SING, DANCE WRITE and PRODUCE, he excels at it all. Very funny, empathetic and a genius. He is not far behind Binnie at 9.13 syllables per second but man, what he can do is simply amazing. He also has just over 130 songs with KOMCHA making him 3rd behind the other 2. He just turned 23 this month.
CHAN, CHANGBIN and HAN are the producing team. They are known as 3RACHA. They have songs in their own right as 3RACHA away from Stray Kids. They were the foundation of the group.
HYUNJIN born in Korea. He was street casted by a scout whilst shopping with his mother just for the way he looked. He had no skills at the time. He has grown into a monster performer. I love his style of RAP. His singing is developing beautifully and he is the 1st prince of K-pop for visuals and dance. He moves like water, fluidly. He is also a LLAMA, drama llama, but we love him for it 😅 He just turned 23 in March.
FELIX, Australian, always loved to dance. Moved to Korea by himself when he was 17 without knowing Korean. He is the deep voice and our Sunshine. He is regularly found rapping on the tracks but lately has more singing parts. His range goes from low to high and is known for beat boxing and being the most non-annoying mosquito. 😅 He turned 23 the day after HAN. We call them our sunshine twins.
SEUNGMIN, Korean. Has the most unique vocal tone. Very serious/diligent artist, always strives for improvement and just when you think he's the best he can be he surprises us again. Has several OSTs for K DRAMAS and is my favourite singer in the group. He also turns 23 this month.
I.N. (YANG JEONG-IN) Korean. The MAKNAE (Youngest) of the group. Funnily enough probably the most mature, lol. He also has a unique vocal tone, very expressive with stage presence, can eat a whole ass pizza slice in one bite, 😅 Loves TROT music and is simply adorable. He turned 22 in February.
All the members can sing, dance, RAP and write songs. Along with 3RACHA some members are also learning production skills.
That is my intro to my boys. For further details I suggest you watch TEANOSUGAR 2023. It's long but STAYS will sit through it with you. We LOVE watching a new STAY being born and we are very proud of our boys. ❤

Their music videos are always top teir, and they usually do between 4-6 music videos per album, plus they drop random

I’m not sure if Stray Kids will be your cup of tea music wise. They are loud and aggressive but can be soft. They are nothing like the other group as they found their own niche. They are considered noise music and are pretty hated by Kpop fandoms because they do it their way. They were criticized heavily for this performance and this song and people thought they should have done something more pleasing for the Americans. The thing is, Stray Kids have always done it their way and will continue to walk their own path. That is Stray Kids❤❤❤❤ You either love them or hate them and they could care less

For a live performance I suggest the mamas 2022 performance of venom & maniac. S-Class is a good song but maybe not the best to start out with. Plus they remix thier songs for every award show performance. You should check out Gods Menu, Thounderous, Backdoor, Maniac or many more. They are a very unique group in Kpop. They are 99% self produced. They write their own lyrics, do thier own beats and have a hand in choreography and theme of their releases. They have a deep discography. If you didn't like this one you can check out many more. Their Japanese videos do not have subtitles but all their other ones do. Their lyrics are deeper than what you see at first and they don't shy away from topics that may be hard to tackle. I hope you check out more. Oh and their fans are called STAYs. They are called STAYs because if you take the "r" from Stray Kids you have STAY, they are the reason they are stray kids. At the of all their korean released videos they have the words "Stray Kids all around the world you make Stray Kids Stay" I hope you enjoy more of the guys!
Stray Kids are incredible! I've seen them live twice and they were the best concerts I've ever seen! I will say if you're looking for BTS' sound/vibes they're nothing like them. However, SKZ has a huge and varied discography with something for everyone.

Thank you for reacting to Stray Kids. They are a self produced group that goes against the norm in kpop. They are not for everyone and aren't trying to be. They are showing Kpop is pop music not one style. Stylistically they are different from BTS and this group is known for some of the most unique, hard and high energy choreo. One point BTS does use dancers. In fact a member of Stray Kids was a pro dancer before joining the group and danced with BTS. BUT all opinion and preferences are respected. I hope you check out their MVs and more live performances. This group is just different and had a slower start because they were different. In fact their fandom is made more of fans across the globe than even in Korea.
I’ll be real with you, the VMAs did an awful job at their camera work. Check out their dance practice of this song. And… BTS absolutely does use background dancers, because one of the members in Stray kids was their backup dancer.
And objectively, Stray kids are overall stronger dancers than BTS with more synchronization, and I prefer their full choreos. I would watch other lives or dance practices before judging. They are just different.

Please note: the VMAs did a terrible job of shooting them! They missed a lot of key moves and it was so annoying for us STAYs (fandom name) to watch the VMAs butcher the performance they worked very hard on. Please watch the music video and dance practice of their song S-Class please and give them another chance to prove to you that they are worth all the hype.
In fact, check out any of their dance practices or MVs and you'll see they are top notch. I was a dancer and singer and even I'm impressed with them. Please?
Camera work missed a lot of key components of the performance. I watched many live performances of this same song and you can tell the cameramen know the song before filming so they can point the camera to the correct performer at the right moment. I felt this was lazy camera work. You couldn’t even see one of the main rapper’s part which was unfortunate. During I. N’s stunt where her gets picked up at the back, all we see are big flashing lights.
Personally it felt like the VMAs couldn’t handle or weren’t ready for a huge performance like this. (My opinion)
Please watch the actual mv and follow with dance performance. These kids do everything themselves, they are young geniuses.
Stray Kids have their own genre, I don’t consider them the traditional Kpop, after listening to more of their songs and dance practices you will understand why you can’t compare them to other groups. As their song says “they’re special”.
Honestly stray kids are younger than BTS debuting 4yrs later. Not only that but if they were all the same what would make them stand out so why would they play follow the leader. They look up to BTS as seniors so it's not fair to compare them but stray kids are really monsters in their own right with their own style which tends to have a harder almost punk rockish kpop vibe. But they also write most all their own stuff produce, direct, and mix their own beats. But there videos are next level by far even over BTS in my opinion! Which is why they won a vma. The video for s class is off the frickin chain fire so I hope you look deeper than just the shadow BTS leaves over kpop. I love BTS as well but I also love all kpop in general and stray kids are top 3 along with BTS, SHINee, and 4th would be ateez currently.
I love stray kids. Much more than BTS. In fact BTS doesnt even included in my “favorite” kpop group, and I’ve been a fan of kpop for about 22 years now, so trust me, i know a lot of kpop group. But I do love some of BTS songs and I know they are great.
BUT I DO agree with Corey that this performance is not “the best” but that is because I KNOW FOR A FACT they can do better and I’ve seen a lot of other performances by stray kids that are far way better than this performance.
Im not saying this performance is not good. It is good, but stray kids has better performances than this.
Yet, I also agree, that whatever it is, this performance is still great considering few reasons that im sure other Stays will tell in their comments.
Having said that, this open to another discussion which is, this is why, you need to check more on stray kids. Watching this performance only doesnt give justice to them. And actually comparing them to BTS is not fair either, being that, their songs are basically different genre and all.
And once u get to know stray kids more, u will just fall in love and like them more and more, knowing what they can do, how they started it all, and their journey up to being where they are now.

But u have to understand, with kpop in particular, they play a lot with “concept”. Having backup dancer doesnt mean to “fix” their flaws, it is simply because some performances are naturally better with more dancers. They dont really have backup dancers in all their performances, just like BTS also have backup dancers in a lot of their performances.
For example, BTS’s epic Run performance, they had a stage full of backup dancers, but that doesnt mean they are not a good dancer. The same goes with Stray kids, they need backup dancer for this performance simply because it fits the concept, and they do have tons of performances just 8 of them singing and dancing without backup dancers that are as good as having backup dancers if not better.

I feel like part of the issue was the camera work at the VMAs it didn't showcase their choreo as well as it could have. I admit I'm totally biased, I thought it was spectacular lol. But the Stray Kids are worth checking out ... and thank you for watching their performance!

And their Sub-unit 3RACHA (Bang Chan, Changbin and Han) who are also writers and producers of much of their content and songs. Check out their songs (no mv's) "HeyDay", their name sake song "3RACHA".
I respect your opinions. I don’t mind the comparisons to bts . I mean it is what it is with regards to that and inevitable. The only rebuttal to it for me would be that Stray kids bring their own uniqueness in comparison to bts . Especially when it comes to sound or at least it does for me. I like bts but i really like that stray kids have their own flavor and way of performing than bts and I think that’s one of their biggest strengths honestly. I love the reaction. This performance and the VMAs was a great intro to folks not familiar with kpop or Stray Kids. To me they KILLED this stage. Their choreography was amazing, despite Corey's opinion. For the scale, that stage of the VMAs really not fully representative of their abilities.
If you want another performance video to react to, then perhaps check out Stray Kids in their 2022 MAMA Performance of Venom and Maniac. You want scale, performance, and choreo, that stage is a better representation of what Stray Kids is all about.
This group is the one that dragged me into kpop rabbit hole. I love the fact that they are self produced and have had a say in almost every song in their 175+ song discography. Not bad for 8 young men who are all under 26.

Lol I would say watch more performances and dance practices, as they are one op the top tier groups and best dancers 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻 . Keep in mind they did VMA while they are in the middle of a full Japan Dome Tour so they did amazing for limited rehearsal time.
They write and produce their own music under 3Racha and all members have contributed 💚.

I absolutely love Stray Kids more than any other kpop group. what was really a let down here was not even them it was the camera work. They also were in mid Dome tour and had to practice within 48hrs for the VMAs. Ive seen many live performances and they are top tier. I recommend you watch some of those that are already recommended here and some of their MVs as well. Hope you check them out .
I recommend watching dance practice of Domino, Maniac, Lalalala, Case 143, and Thunderous, if you want to see how well they do choreography. 😊
In my personal opinion, Hyunjin, Lee Know, (stray kids) and Niki (Enhypen) are currently some of the best dancers in Kpop of the younger generation
(Lee Know actually used to be a back up dancer for BTS if I remember correctly. Before he became apart of Stray kids. Which is crazy because he also has a beautiful singing voice.)
I agree with a comment I saw that the camera doesn't capture all their dancing. They practiced really hard for this performance as well. There's videos of them doing so for VMAs.
The recent Golden Disc awards also show a great full performance.
They have to also take into account their energy because they Never lip sync. They always perform live. 😊

Yeah I’m coming for YOU lol. First of all, BTS does have back up dancers. Lee Know from Stray Kids actually used to be one of their back up dancers. They only had like 2 days to practice if that for this performance since they were touring in Japan. They self produce and write their own music. S-Class is their title song and it’s broke records so why would they not perform it? Were you expecting acrobatic choreography? Because they can do that too. BTS has like 5 years on Stray Kids and their music is different. You will never be open minded if you are stuck on BTS and will always compare them to other groups. I actually understand the critique for the choreography for this song. The choreography reads really well upclose in an MV, small stage, or for a dance challenge. But because the moves are small and precise (attempting it is honestly a physical and mental challenge) its not necessarily made for huge stages and wide angle shots. But in that regard, sometimes you just can't will them all. The choreo for the chorus is very popular and iconic, so changing it would alienate the fans.
As for the comparisons to BTS, they are very, very good performers, but even BTS use backup dancers. Extra dancers can help fill a stage, aid in story telling, build pictures and scenes, and create points of focus. But an important element is camera work still. The camera work here missed huge moments with an entire rap solo from Han being missed almost emtirely for random shots of backup dancers. I think the camera operator's and directors were a bit lost in the sauce there which is unfortunate because Han is a great performer.
Ultimately, I really think you should react to their MVs or other performances. Oftentimes, I feel Western award shows don't know how to film and light kpop acts the way korean shows do. It makes a huge difference.
I feel like bands shouldn't be compared especially because every band is different. Please dont limit your comparison to just Bts, because they are not the precedent. I appreciate the reactions. I feel like to give the best criticism tho would be to base them on them solely. They have worked very hard to be different, and in fact are completely unique. No hate. Just my 2 cents. Definitely react to more and keep your eyes new and not based on what you know. I feel like that can definitely help with how you see them. Everyone has their own opinion. but there is no need to compare groups. because they are all different. That's why that beat sounds so familiar to us 80s kids. ❤❤❤ Just thought you should know. 😊

5:05 Just to let you know that is Bang Chan (oldest/leader) of the group and the guy with the deep voice is FELIX, they’re both Korean-Australian. Im you heard the news about three of the members being in a minor car collision … no one got seriously injured, obtained some bruises and whiplash but they’re all okay but of course the media will blow it up overdramatized the whole incident to gain readers and followers.

You are entitled to your own opinion but remember back up dancers add to the performance not take away and Lee Know, our lead dance in Stray Kids was a backup dancer for BTS before stray kids was formed.

Thank you for your honest feedback. You shouldn't just jump on a band wagon just because they are one of the best.. Everyone has their own taste in performances and music. You comparing BTS to Stray Kids is comparing apples to oranges. Also, there is 7 in BTS.. just helping with facts. I think because the world (VMA world) has previously only had BTS, you don't really have a full perspective on what is out there ( Like you said). The Kpop world doesn't really like to compare, and we don't really like to hear it because you really can't. They are so different in every way. But anyway... I can go on and on about how amazing SKZ is, but it's pointless. I SEE STAY ALREADY DOING IT IN THE COMMENTS LOL. They are what got me in, and my ult. It's just all down to preferences in music and styles. It's funny because I saw BTS on VMA's and I guess you can say that was my "first look at KPOP" and it never grabbed me. I don't have a problem with any other groups, but specifically stray kids are a bit too all over place with their music. I agree BTS music and dance is a bit more focused on the assignment and relatable. Strong performance great job stray kids
