Of course you can. Water from a fish tank is perfect for plants. But the best is when you suck up all the dirt from the sand. Check aquaponics on youtube. Cheers.
They are fine for composting but break down much slower than wood chip or bark. You can speed up their decomposition by reducing their size in a food processor. Mulch may be a better use for them.

4.5 ph is the right one for blackberries
