My Strangest Luxury Store Experiences

  • Today, I’m going to tell you about the weirdest experiences I’ve had in luxury fashion boutiques, in my case two strange experiences at Cartier boutiques and one at the Loewe store on Avenue Montaigne. As always, a huge shoutout to the incredible professionals and staff at these luxury retail stores. It seems like the sale of luxury goods just brings about the strangest behavior of people. No, this is not a quiet luxury shopping vlog. Yes, the thumbnail is the terrifying Yayoi Kusama statue that is painting the Louis Vuitton store on the Champs-Elysées. Terrifying and goofy.

I finally found my dream job: working at a luxury store just telling people to wait a second

    • @HBADGERBRAD
      @HBADGERBRAD Год назад +4

Oh! You have to learn how to say it in a breathy way and itv, “please wait here, someone (or the clerks name) will be with you in just a moment.” However, things have definitely changed in Paris, now there’s the lines, the Chinese capitalists, the huge groups from Dubai. And lastly, the last line is for the Russian oligarchs. The style Bliss experienced is a dying art form. Like everything highend, it’s going the way of the dodo.

I think your Cartier story explains why it's only their neighbors at Bulgari that are getting robbed all the time.
And the editing is really on point in this one, especially the outro.

My best experience at a luxury store was Isabel Toledo’s shop in Geneva. I went in with my sister and started geeking hard with all the fabulous and quirky cuts (she had very special cut to the sleeves that season). I started explaining to my sister how this cut creates drape just so and that one changes the silhouette, etc. And the sales assistant joins in and starts showing us other awesome details and bringing in more clothes so we could check out the details and the cut. Half the stuff was obviously not in my size so she’s clearly not trying to sell me anything, just super excited to find another person that appreciates what Isabel Toledo was doing. Made a friend that day I think. When we left she gifted me a neon pink plastic ring, just out of sheer excitement and appreciation. I cherish it and think of her every time i wear it.

I think what people fail to realize is that if you go to a luxury store, you should act and possibly dress accordingly. I know it’s related to an earlier video, but sales people will be totally cool with you so long as you fit a certain type.
I have had sales reps want to show me all of the fragrances, ask if I wanted to try anything on and be excited about it. They know 95% of people are there to window shop, but if you are approachable and just damn nice, they will be really cool with you.
I had asked to try on this literally most gorgeousestest Balenciaga coat, it was €5k, too expensive. But the sales lady was just the coolest and we chatted about it, about Balenciaga and fashion in general. She saw how excited I seemed about trying it on. This belief that they are always just stuck up snobs are not true, unless you provoke that reaction. Going in wearing a tracksuit and just being a weirdo and you will likely encounter snobbery, or I guess be suggested to go to Omega...🤔🤔🤔

Loool just learned that first hand the other day. I had an interview in this fancy mall and was all dressed up so I decided to peep this boutique and they treated me so much nicer than I would’ve expected:)) I’m still surprised they offered me to try stuff, got stuff from the back for me & even got me water lmao. Definitely wouldn’t go in those stores if I wasn’t ready to do so

The sales people treated my gf and I so well. Brought us different sizes and even offered us coffee from these expensive porcelain mugs. I was highly impressed. But I have been to many stores and places like that, so I know how to behave and what to wear.

The wealthier people I know tend to dress down. People with old money tend to be considerate, too. It isn't a good idea for staff to assume a person can't afford the shop.

Hahaha that outro, you wascally wabbit! 😂 My most bizarre luxury store experience also took place in Paris at Colette (RIP). I'm trilingual (English, Arabic, and French) and asked a sales associate (in English) where the changing rooms were to try on a couple of things. He kindly showed me to one and I went in. The store was small and I could hear him and his colleague whispering in French about what they'd like to do to me. After I was done, I walked out, looked them both dead in the eye and asked in French if what I heard was part of the "service" Colette regularly provided. One of them covered his face and the other apologised but I laughed and told them to relax and it was funny. They gave me a bag full of samples and shit (to bribe me not to get them fired I think haha).

So. What you're saying is that the 'smash & grab' kiddos have accidently added to the "Luxury Experience". Fascinating...
The House of Worth (aka, the first couturier) would have a progression of different rooms that customers would be slowly filed through. At each room there was fabric to examine, different models wearing some of the latest creations, et cetera. It was... an _experience_. Especially for the daughters of newly minted American robber barrons.
Congratulations on your engagement. Mazel Tov, Kiddo!
And... I'm laughing in the out-loud. Good. Outro. Sir.

I loved hearing the store experiences ! The office where Im working part time alongside uni is very close to the Maximilianstraße here in Munich so im walking past a lot of really high end stores and especially watch boutiques but up until now ive always been way too shy to actually take some time out of my day and go into one of those stores. The thought of looking completely out of place as a 21 year old with nothing but my little gold plated Dugena from my great grandfather to my name walking into the Patek Philippe Boutique does seem kind of scary. 😅

One thing that has happened in men’s fashion is the Pearl, an accessory I’ve proudly worn for twenty years. I was teased ruthlessly by friends and strangers would even take shots at my beautiful string of pearls. I have a nice selection but my first strand after twenty years of wear is perfection now. I only brought this up because you have a perfect single Pearl suspended on a beautiful gold chain. My eyes keep going to it. Usually it’s your long floppy hair that distracts my ADHD brain 🧠 but not today it’s the perfect Pearl placed perfectly by the way. This ADHD moment was brought to you by me. I love your channel, I love how you explain fashion and get so excited. I’m old now and broke but I had so much fun with fashion and had money to buy it. You know you spent a lot when HERMÈS sends you a birthday card and presents saying they miss me. I received a beautiful little scarf and bottle of one of my favourite scents by them. I guess my point is I can no longer attend fashion shows or buying trips to Paris. I now live vicariously through you. Thank you Bliss you are remarkable. 😊

I’m thinking about splurging on an Hermes fragrance in the next year or so. Any recommendations? I like stuff that’s floral but somehow still masculinesque if that makes sense 😅 any thoughts?

I was in Neiman Marcus one time, I was looking for a Diesel shirt that had gone on sale, and there was this early 30's guy, looked like he had just come from the gym. He was on the phone and I literally couldn't tell if the call was business or personal bc of how he was talking to the person. Had a bunch of bags with him too. Simultaneously, he is barking out specific items to an associate to retrieve for him while he waited at the counter to do a return on top of that. This merry-go-round of an interaction went on the entire time I was in the store.

My worst experience was at the Miami Margiela store in the design district where my girlfriend and I were literally treated like peasants, which is especially rich considering I have spent good money at that store in particular, and these employees are actually stupid for not realizing that, especially since they have seen us in there before. Never setting foot in that store again because of them.
They tried to give us shit for trying things on. If they recall correctly, what they said exactly was "we don't have to do this, we don't have to go through this routine" or something to that effect. If you're in the store and you see a gentleman with a pedo stash and long hair and brown eyes, steer clear.
