- Welcome to a new trip report! Join me on board the famous (and probably also notorious) Romanian sleeper train D347, also known as the 'Dacia'. Operated by CFR Calatori (Romanian Railways). Operating between Vienna and Bucharest, a trip that takes almost a day!
For this trip report, I travelled with single occupancy in a sleeper cabin all the way from Vienna 🇦🇹 to Bucharest 🇷🇴 on November 29, 2023. All the things you want to know about the service in the sleeper cabin will be covered in this trip report.
Enjoy!

It was a truly wonderful trip. And these trains at Bucharest station are amazing. This is the history of the European railway.
Good report, it’s much better to review the train good and bad this one certainly needs an upgrade to compete with the other railways providers new stock, enjoyable post
The Alstom Coradia belongs to CFR Infrastructura, this is the company that maintains the rail infrastructure in Romania. The unit is meant for testing the new tracks and ERTMS systems implemented on the new tracks by Alstom.
Thanks! 👍🏽
I like how CFR still uses the languages from back when refurbishing their rolling stock. Very few have the items translated into English. Check out the emergency handle at 6:35 :)
😊😊😊
24:15 Yes it is. This is part of that track update that you saw. Also the normal route to this train is back, but I don't know if there is the restaurant car.
there is a full dining car from Wien to Budapest (MAV) and a Bar/Bistro car (with bar stools) from Arad to Bucharest serving sandwiches, chips, snacks and drinks (CFR).
Regarding the bridge, from that point on there will be a tunnel shortening the route to Brasov.
