It is March 2022 and am a new 97 TJ owner needing JUST THIS VIDEO!! Thanks BleepinJeep!!
Hello Michael! If ever there was a PERFECT video for a fix, THIS IS IT!! I cannot tell you how helpful this was!! Perfect example and a great lesson! Thank you for this!!
Hey Michael.......The headlights on my 2000 Jeep TJ stopped working about a year ago. I couldn't use the Jeep after dark, but I had another old car that I could drive, so I just procrastinated, and didn't do anything about the problem for the past year. RUclips is always my source for helpful information, and I signed on a few weeks ago to see if I could finally solve my headlight problem. I just happened to click on your video first, and your simple, down to earth approach was perfect for me. I ordered the switch that you mentioned, (DS357T), from Amazon and it arrived in three days. I looked at your video a second time, just to refresh my memory, and then went to work. Twenty minutes later the switch was installed and for the first time in a year I had headlights again. Not only that, but the aftermarket fog lights that somebody had installed years ago, and have never worked since I owned the Jeep, suddenly worked perfectly. Thanks so much for your advice and for making this video. You really helped me a bunch!!
Driving on a two lane country road at night, lights start flickering and finally go out. Replaced mine last night...5 minute job...thanks Michael!
Great video! That is exactly what is wrong with my jeep, and now I know it is a 30 minute fix. Super thorough
God Bless you Sir!! I had replaced my old tail lights with some Quadratec plug and play LED tail lights. I pulled to hard on my headlamp switch and pulled the switch complete out and broke it. $27 and trip to Napa and Im back up and running!!! You are the Man!!
You know you made a good video when people are still referring to it after so many years!!! I replaced mine to fix my headlight issue and now my floorboard lights work for the first time since I bought my '98 twelve years ago!
this videos going to be helping people out as long as youtube and TJs exist. Thanks man!
Best video on the topic for sure. Got mine replaced in about 15 mins start to finish, and it solved the problem of having to find just the right spot for the lights to illuminate. Thank you!
Good tutorial. Worked well on my 98 wrangler Sierra. The button to release the stem was pretty stubborn on mine, but it worked after messing around with it for a minute or so. Thank you for making this instructional video.
A terrific video. Exactly my Jeep's symptoms. Thank you so much for a very helpful video! You saved me a bunch a money$$$
Just followed your guide and it made things so easy! At 3:22 I found a large Phillips was needed to break the retaining screw loose and remove the switch. You gave easy and thorough instructions. I know where to look for my next Jeep project (emissions filter leak)!
I have an XJ but this replacement is similar in concept. Thanks for the very clear, step-by-step video!
Great, informative video. I changed out my headlight switch today and without this video, would not have been able to complete the task. This video was a huge help. Thanks,
Wow, very easy. I've lived with this for a year or more and wish I had done this sooner. Thanks!
Love this type of content. Simple stuff like this is always enjoyable to watch and quite useful.
Bought the piece of Amazon , took me like 15 mins to install the new one ! Thank you !
Old country boy and gear head who finally bought himself a toy for my mental health 😅 I'm a cheap SOB and try to do everything I can myself, that being said said, greatly appreciative of your video brother, easy peazy lemon squeezy
Great video. I followed you exactly and had no problems installing a new switch.
Just finished r &r tj lightswitch your video is spot on! Thank you young man!
Great video. I followed along and replaced the switch in our 98 Wrangler in like 15 minutes.
Great video. I followed it Step by step and had this replaced in 20 minutes. Well done and great resource!
I know it's old, but installing relays will expand the lifespan of these headlight switches. I have 98 dodge ram, which is similar and I've replaced 3 in two years. I installed a relay and it has lasted me a year with no signs of corrosion. hope this helps in the future.
I guess I’m gonna order that switch, my cluster lights doesn’t turn on anymore (just the turn signals and warning signals ). Thanks for upload this video, is very helpful to fix ourselves some of the Jeep problems
Thanks saved me a lot of time and trouble
Thanks for this. I'll have to do this next week.
BTW it's always a good idea to test everything BEFORE re-installing all the trim pieces.
Ask me how I know. :)
Easy and to the point! Awesome video, thank you so much!!
Thanks for the very well done video! Using your video, I was able to change my switch in about 10 minutes. Thanks again, I really appreciate your help! David
Thank you so much. The video helped me tremendously and gave me the confidence to do the job!
Michael, love your videos. Even though I have a 96 XJ, your vids are more within my range of capabilities than the fabrication, etc. of most of the other vids on this channel. But the flashing orange light is distracting; it appeared at the end of your video on bypassing the cluck interlock, too.
your instructions were on=point thanks so much for releasing these very detailed information videos
Bleepy always there to help xD Guess I will try to tackle this one tonight on the xj.
This saved me so much time. Thanks for the upload
Thanks for the clear and concise instructions!!👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks, my install went flawless.
Thank you for the video! Took me 10 minutes to get it done. Very informative thank you
Typical Jeep owner working in the dark lol.
Otherwise it would be too easy....
Thanks for the video. Should make the replacement very easy!!
like you said corrosion i sprayed component cleaner got it working but i know i need to replace soon great video
Thank you! This video helped me a lot!
dude I have the exact same TJ, color and everything! (97 4L 5 spd). I've done nothing to it yet except maint,,, I look fwd to your other videos!
Man I wish the early XJs were only twice as difficult as this. Gotta get pretty intimate with up under the dash and under the pedals. And then mine only lasted about 3-4 yrs before it started cutting out intermittently.
Yes, this is a better design for access.
Thanks for the video. Just replaced mine. It’s as simple as you said
Easy and appreciate that the part number was given DS357
Thanks for the video. Maybe that will fix my issue with no hi beams. Then I can tackle the issue of no windscreen washer/everything else works - including the pump, just no power going to it.
good video, like how you run through set by set
Perfect ... changed the switch on my 98 TJ without issue,Thanks!
I changed mine still don't work any suggestions?
Thank you for your help!
Great video. You helped this guy out!
Great detail in this video. Thanks for the help.
Omg u are the MAN thanks soooo much
Would this switch being bad also show up in the cluster only lighting up intermittently and having to turn the know in various ways to get cluster to come on?
Worked like a charm, thanks for the tips! 👍
Great video. Thanks very much.
The under dash lights on your Jeep, are they stock, or did you add them? My 98 doesn’t have them.
Hi thank you for your video I have a Jeep Wrangler to and I replaced this switch but my dashboard lights don't work?
Thanks! It was just as you said!
Changing out, the heater core, with AC,
Thanks for the info. Great video!
I like your videos
Thanks for making this!
Listo, ahora a reemplazar el.switch de mi Wrangler Sahara
Do all tj’s have floor lights? 😳 my Jeep has not had any that I know of but it’s been in my family since it came off the lot in 98.
Hey there! Great video! I have a question. Does disconnecting the battery disable the air bags?I've heard I need to disable them before working on the headlight switch. I have a 1999 Jeep wrangler.
Very helpful ty!!
Thanks for this
Thank you!
On mine my running light come on for the first pull but for the head lights on the second pull the running lights don’t come on how can I fix that ?
Is that what mechanics refer to as the dimmer switch
Do you have a link for the replacement part on amazon?
Have a question if you wanted to put a storage rack in front of the Jeep where would you go to get that kind of a hook-up you home or would you prefer someone else build you one like the time you put in the rear of the Jeep but you want to put in the front instead
great video and very helpful information as well.. I wonder if this process is the same for the 97-01 XJ as well?
Similar. As I understand it, the part is the same including the little button, but accessing it requires a much more complicated dash disassembly.
Mine wont turn off with key removed. Pull the big fuse they go off. Any ideas.
Any tips on the button not releasing the knob?
I had that same problem. but jiggling/twisting the knob while pulling eventually I found the right position and it slid right out.
I did mine not to long ago and wished I had this video then. haha I got it in tho nice work
Did you dash lights also flicker?
Thanks
Nah, I never disconnect anything when I’m working on electronics. I YOLO everything
Thanks for the video.
Have the same problem in my yj any videos in that?

Thank you.
Is the overspray on the metal piece fr you repainting the vinyl interior? If so what kind of paint did you use?
If you're still wondering I'd use a duplicolor vinyl and fabric spray can they sell the at autozone left paint unit 2nd from bottom to top
Same for an XJ?
numero dos 😎 great job man..
Thanks for the vid
I would have checked that the switch fixed everything before I put the cover plate and the trim panel back on
Replace headlights & fog lights
I think I may have to replace the same part but my situation is that I can't pull out the lever but I can turn it any suggestions for that if anyone can please help me I would appreciate that!!!
what year is your TJ? I have '03 and the headlight switch is on the turn signal arm
1997. I've mentioned that before, but probably should have said it more clearly in this video.
I have a gage problem. I will driving along and my radio and all my gages will go dead,.. the gages drop. They will be off for a bit and then come back on. How can I fix this?
