They sort of covered when he flat spotted the tires into 1 - he made an extra stop for tires and was running last the last 10 laps of Stage 2. He stayed out on the Stage 2 break and restarted about 20th. Everyone had to stop one more time from there - he got by everyone except the 5 on pure speed. Heck of drive but that extra stop cost him too much track position. He was 12 seconds behind the 5 after everyone made their last stop - knocked about 9 seconds out of it so pretty clear who had the fastest car.

@@altenager Because he had to fight for it and succeeded at it. twice he had to start from the back of the field and work his way up to the top spots and he did so. He overcame huge odds and finished 2nd less than 3 seconds back from Larson. Also Chase put down the fastest lap time the whole day and was doing it consistently. He overcame a FIFTY second DEFICIT do you know how hard that is especially at a road course and when you are against your teammates. Thats a win in my book and was one heck of a battle. THE ONLY reasons Larson won is because he was fast so could get ahead of others into clean air and was able to get that huge lead . Even if Chase had to start at the back of the field once I guarantee you he would have been ahead of Larson by several seconds when the checkered flag waves. And he put on the BEST performance out of any driver that day he probably passed 50 cars that race that's insane. If chase won it would have been one of if not the best comeback in Nascar history and he almost did it if there was more laps.
