It's almost embarrassingly good. Without wishing to sound like an old fart, both this and I Still Have Faith in You have proper singing, proper lyrics and proper music played on proper instruments. I don't doubt there's some studio trickery going on, but that's not an issue. Very little, if anything, of today's music compares to this. It's a masterclass in songwriting and I still haven't tired of listening to either of them. Marvellous stuff.
I'm an old fart to. Music should be done on proper instruments. Operated by proper musicians. The millisecond off beat and the one hertz off tune that so easily happens is what makes music enjoyable. I have a hard time listening to machine drums or fake brass.

These new songs from ABBA show today's music industry how it should be done. Proper harmonies, depth, a storyline and instrumentation that leaves today's so called music in ABBA's shadow. And these musicians are all in their 70's. Absolutely amazing, still sound as fresh and uplifting as they did 40 years ago. This real talent and musicianship.
When I first heard these two new songs I was sobbing my heart out. I could not believe ABBA was back and releasing a brand new album in my life time. A near impossible dream has come true and the fact that they came back firing on all cylinders with all their powers completely in tact is just a gift from God.
It's a new song. "Just A notion" is the song that was recorded in 1978 and they remastered it with new instrumentals and backing vocals at the end of the song as it begins to fade out.
Harri, I could be wrong, but I think she’s reuniting w/her X. She used to have a short-fuse, but now she is mellow. She’s waiting to be invited in his apartment. These songs ARE new fresh songs.. we've been ABBA's super fans since 1974 till now. They might be in their 70s now, but they really haven't lost any of their touch. Benny and Bjorn have been actively writing and producing songs for other acts all the way during post ABBA years, so it's no wonder really how excellent they still really are. Both ABBA girls may not have been as active as the boys, but both Agnetha and Frida have recorded fresh songs/album, although quite rare and few in between. Both these 2 freshly recorded materials ARE INDEED testaments of how good both of them still are.. And I love how ABBA are keeping to their own sound and yet still sounds up to date and fresh... B and B did Chess and Kristina från Duvemåla. And tons of songs for Benny Anderssons Orkester. Nothing of that sounded like ABBA. The mystery is where they wrote down the recipe for an ABBA song.
@@beru58 You don't easily forget something that's been a regular formulation for a large portion of your life! Agnetha has released a couple of albums over the last ten years. Absolutely the 70s ABBA sound ;-). But the lyrics of a woman hoping for the rebirth of a past love have so many analogies with the rebirth of ABBA ... I'm sure the song is not from an old drawer, it is completely new.
There is some symbolism to the lyrics. The kids left the park are the fans who have grown and moved on. The sun is going down its getting dark. It’s a newly written song. And it’s charting well in many countries. I believe it’s in the top 40 in the UK currently. And they broke the record for Universal UK’s presales.

The songs are brand new original songs. Can't wait for the full album release. ABBA always takes me back to my childhood , makes me smile and gives me chills every time.
I think it's a masterpiece as well. I like it better than old ABBA. Lyrically it hits me so hard, should be topping the charts. And if they are capable of this and enjoy it they should continue!
If somebody had played this for me and told me it was from 1975, I would have believed it. There are a few clues, though: "reloaded" and "transformation" are words which have been around forever, but used this way seems very 21st Century. Even "But in the shape and form I appear now" sounds almost anime-esque: *this isn't even my final form!* I suppose it *could have been* written in the 70s, but it probably wasn't.
Abba is amazing and it’s with great pleasure that I have been around long enough to see them both back in the late 70’s and also 2021. I should have recorded my reaction when I first heard both songs….I was bewildered for sure. It boggles my mind, and so it should everyone. Bjorn doesn’t get mentioned much but he did fantastic with the Lyrics on both songs….they are new not from a vault like a couple other songs they have on their new album. Bumblebee is from a undeleted songs album and another song also, but heck I can’t wait for the new album to drop. Just a quick tidbit, they’re only doing these 2 new song on the tour as the other songs weren’t in creation or collaboration at the time they did the AbbAtars, so they have re- recorded 20 other songs from some of their favourite’s and also what they thought should have been a hit at the time….like The King has lost his crown for instance, it’s one of Anni-Frids favourite songs. They will still be doing Dancing Queen and other great hits as well. It will be very interesting when the details drop of what is going to be sung on the roster for the tour.
Better? No. DSMD is a smashing song, but different to DQ, why compare them? I think if you heard DQ for the first time you'd be blow away by it. Maybe familiarity with it has diminished your appreciation of such an acclaimed song.
Definitely new material :-). They finished this song a few years ago along with 'I still have faith in you,' but it took longer to get the avatars and the new show ready than they had anticipated. The last song for the album was recorded just a week ago or so, and so the album is ready and will be out in November. I don't remember the details but Benny said 'don't shut me down'' was inspired by some song from the 70s.
Thanks for the ABBA. I like the way the first song asks "Do I Have It In Me?" then they follow it with this, And the little inside stuff being said. If the rest of the album is this well thought out it's gonna be one great album.
to my knowledge this song is a brand new composition. there is one or 2 songs on the new album that were demos from the deleted medley from their box set thank you for the music. so they probably went back in and completed those but the other tracks are brand new,
I just love your reaction video and your enthusiasm about this, well you look good too ;). I was also sceptical about their comeback. But I'm amazed about how they still sound and also love their ageing vocies. Let's hope more of the new songs that are coming will be good too. But not sure I will like the Abbatars though. That seems a bit strange to me. But have no problem if they make a success of that to. Cheers to you Harri!
I was skeptical, too, but now I just can't get over how good they still sound. I would love to see the ABBAtar performance, but then I am a retired computer guy, so I am especially interested in the technology involved and the end result. It would be great if the ABBAtar show could tour the world so all the fans could see it, but I'm not sure that could happen. They are building a new arena in London for the performances, and I don't know why they would need to do that unless it has to be a special venue in order to project the holograms correctly.

It's not exactly Dancing Queen. This is a better song! 100 listens later this song is still burning in my soul...Soooooo beautiful.
Better? No. DSMD is a smashing song, but different to DQ, why compare them? I think if you heard DQ for the first time you'd be blow away by it. Maybe familiarity with it has diminished your appreciation of such an acclaimed song.
Great review. I’m glad that they came back. They’ve still got it.
Absolutely fantastic, this reminds me of ELO as well, the harmony and strings. Great stuff
Pure ABBA, great music as always. Harmonies are spot on and the music Beautiful.
The Abba music factory is churning them out again. Just add these to the "classics" list.
I love this sound. I actually prefer this to their songs in the 70s. Great pick Harri!
** their songs
ABBA forever..it's ABBA magic.
Is she going back to him, wow I’m happy I think. Beautiful ❤
Both songs are new, and so great! I agree, Don't shut me down is my favourite of these two new songs👍
Thanks for the ABBA. I like the way the first song asks "Do I Have It In Me?" then they follow it with this, And the little inside stuff being said. If the rest of the album is this well thought out it's gonna be one great album.
That song is new. Trust me.
Dear, beloved ABBA. the soundtrack of my youth.. Remarkable song.. Great reaction Harri..
It's always a joy watching and hearing you enjoy music, and great musicians such as ABBA :)
Can’t wait for the concert!!!!
Love it been an abba fan since I was 6 years old the new songs are still amazing 👏
Kings abba 4ever
Wonderfull Abba
I think you called it Harri, they're not human lol, great reaction as usual, have a good day!
Completely new lyrics. ☀️
They are super human. They are new songs
Great reaction. Thanks for sharing.
Love the lyrics. Very Jacques Brel!
to my knowledge this song is a brand new composition. there is one or 2 songs on the new album that were demos from the deleted medley from their box set thank you for the music. so they probably went back in and completed those but the other tracks are brand new,
I love ABBA more than life!!!
Believe they wrote it just recently - great reaction vid - the fact you just let it play all through cos no one should hit pause on this track 💙
Love your joyous reaction and insightful commentary. Kudos 🙌
