This man really possesses something unique to himself, the intangible notion of talent that keeps the listener spellbound and curious. A truly great performer, one of his own kind. And to think that I had never heard of him before... Thank you for sharing!
Monsieur Gitlis a 95ans. Salut Monsieur et merci. Hélène
this man is great i know that.... breathtaking playing, it is just not boring. if everybody sticks on the notes they see in the music, then after a while, everybody play exactly the same, then we don´t need newcomers anymore... "you gotta improvise the work you see in the music...", you gotta be the Jazzer in classic. I like this a lot. If Beethoven wasnt in that Opinion, he couldnt be Beethoven.
The Gitlis-sound!!!!! Man thats the way I want Paganini to be played. Not this Sarah Chang-soft-version... But you now thats the good thing with music. Everyone can play it as he likes.
No one can play this one awkward harmonic note in the double harmonic variation that is a combination of a 4th and 5th harmonics imposing an extremely awkward stretch. Everyone else plays it as double 5ths instead. Paganini's technique remains unmatched
I'm not sure if he does it or not, but try checking out Roman Kim's I Palpiti! ruclips.net/video/dBkUyAJ93to/видео.html He does some crazy stuff with his violin, and he's even invented a technique or two, I think.
i am also fan of gitlis listening, but i dont like people comparing violinsts. so many differents styles and ways are great, and for me there is no better or worse ... as long as it is special in a certain way .. like Gitlis :D
I personally am not a fan of Gitlis' wild tempo changes, sudden changes in dynamic, or abbrupt changes in tone color, but for Paganini it seems appropriate. Probably more so than Szeryng...and Szeryng is one of my musical heros.
Szeryng play is simply " correct ". That means, probably much influenced by the strict Flesch school, that he doesn´t use the whole freedom in agogique, dynamics, emotions etc. So his Paganini is quite steril. He demonstrated this in the 3. VC, which he played in London.
That's it for me too. I don't know why. There is something in Gitlis's play that makes it so different from those of other world class masters. I don't know what it is. And then I watched his interviews and a video of his personal life. I fell in love with his personality and humane view of everything.
I guess not many people would agree to that asertion, but it´s been a while since I have been comparing the sound of the two and I understand and join you C C and Draziw777. Perhaps not every single piece or interpretation of Gitlis is superior to JH but in general I find more feeling, he makes his violin cry.
What number of Paganini concerts? If you talk about No. 1 ( D dur) I propose first to listen here the version of Vasco Abadjiev from1952 and after that comment the comparison despite the bad quality ov VA-record on 78 rmv.
I don't know why people warble on about how great this guy was. Almost everyone I've ever talked to about him not only had bad things to say about his playing, but about his complete lack of professionalism offstage. The latter element aside, why do people like his playing??? The crass inattention to the score? The strident tone? The fact that he rushes like crazy, as if he's literally playing fast because he has to pack up and catch a train in 2 minutes? Just my opinion. But it irks me when I see a lot of praise for this particular violinist. I always get a truckload of "f*** you"s and "get some class and grow some tastebuds" comments from his staunchest defenders, I have for many years and will continue to. But this guy was just never much of a musician, no matter how long his career lasted. There was a comment on another RUclips Gitlis video not long ago that said "In the year 1990, nobody knew who Gitlis was. It wasn't until he started getting old and elderly that he started getting more attention, as one of the last survivors of the Carl Flesch class." Makes sense.
Nobody is comparable to Ivry Gitlis : the intensity of his performances always makes me shiver!
Rest in peace, dear Ivry, genius.
😭😭😭😭😭

Ivry Gitlis never ever fails to amaze me, any piece, any recording, any age.
Così vivo , così ricco di emozioni ....

The Great Maestro of the old great school... What a personality!
Stile..classe..interpretazione..tutto MAGISTRALE.Unico e inarrivabile.
His style is unique, no one can copy him
breathtaking for the way he plays with pure imagination and whimsy. The passion is so genuine it is electrifying.
What a great musician! A really precious gift to mankind!
he is the special one of all violinists. a real artist!
Definitely one of the best renditions of the piece I have heard.
He makes this composition so much more than a virtuosic show piece.
Rest in peace ❤️🎶
A violin magician. I suspect every bit as good as Paganini. Such incredible higher position clarity and power!!!

Gitlis is not just a fiddler - he is an artist. An artist for the ages - like Paganini, Prihoda, Heifetz, Kogan, Horowitz, Brendel, Starker.
So much passion and emotion,
I really respect his amazing vibrato~~!!~♡RIP~
beautiful beautiful and beautiful
No one played Paganini as naturally, liquidly and more virtuousically as Gitlis. Truly astoinding.
This guy is just a fkn GENIUS thats all there is to it!!
wonderful interpretation...
Formidabile, molto espressivo!
WOW WINTER IS HERE HE IS THE BEST
BRAVO !
Comme c'est beau !

Bonsoir.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻Bravissimo
this is stunning!!! thanks for sharing buddy!
oh yeah im addicted to this crying & sweet sound
exceptionnel !!!

This is actually the original way. Paganini used the Scordata (tuning all strings a half-step higher) thus making it B flat major.
The Gitlis-sound!!!!!
Man thats the way I want Paganini to be played. Not this Sarah Chang-soft-version...

the violin can be a kind of drug!
BRAVO
Awesome!

@@Lordvictorinox Nope. He does the usual double 5ths but still pretty good.
@@aznfan88 ahh ok
One of the hardest things you can attempt on the violin
@@aznfan88 incredible you come back to this comment 11 years later. What harmonic are you talking about? Time stamp?

i can hear abit of paganini's concerto 3rd movt, rondo somewhere from 6.40 to 7min lol
POWERFUL VIOLIN :))))
I love this guy

Tune ? 450 htz ?
Versione originale, col violino accordato mezzo tono più alto
yeah, you right ...but I think he speaks "whatever language" on violin...!!!
There is more going on here than just violin playing. Otherwise he could not play this way.

Recorded too fast , the pitch is not normal
It's actually normal, according to the original score, which stated the violinist is to tune the violin a semitone higher, hence to sound in B flat.
The violin has only one God- Paganini and Vasco Abadjiev is his prophet!!!!
ico
It is not true. The performance of Vasco Abadjiev is the best better than Gitlis. Please, see here!!
I lost interest after the 3rd or 4th horribly flat note
