  • As I have mentioned in previous videos, I had many opportunities to catch up and sit down with some well-known landscape photographers at the Sony Kando event held in Monterey, California.
I have been following Chris Burkhard for many years on Instagram. He’s an energetic young photographer who has produced some fantastic photographic projects. He’s a master of social media and has used it as a way to engage not only an audience of people who follow his photography but also a way to land some tremendous commercial assignments.
Chris took a few minutes of his time, sat down on the steps of a building at the Kando event and had a conversation about photography.
I hope you enjoy this video and learn some new aspects of landscape photography.

How can it be disappointing to see many people come out and take pictures at the same place Kevin. We need more people to come out and connect with nature, What greater way is there to experience nature then to do landscape photography. In my opinion our biggest problem to day in modern society is that everyone is so disconnected from nature. We need to change that. If we can do that by bringing more people out to take pictures it might actually make some difference in the future. All the best.

Great chat! I love Chris Burkard's work and consider some of his photos to be truly iconic (especially in surf photography). You should have told him to publish more on his youtube channel.

I liked Chris' response about people being in the same location you are shooting. Don't be so arrogant that you are the only one deserving of taking those photographs. You don't own those landscapes and you're not entitled to them.
