What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today we will be checking out these MORryde StepAbove RV steps on our 2018 Jayco Jay Flight travel trailer. Let's check out the standard steps that are on there from the factory. You can see they move quite a bit when you're hopping up and down on them, walking inside and out, you have stuff in your hand, they add more weight. Not the sturdiest thing. You can see how much they move.
I definitely will like the MORrydes better because when we get those into place steps are gonna be wider and it's gonna be planted on the ground. So you won't have that initial bounce when you go to step on and off of it. Now we're gonna do the beverage test. We got a bottle of water right here. I'm going to walk up and down the steps and show you how much bounce there is.
That water's probably not gonna stay there. Let's just go ahead and put the cap on and then try it. You see, that's me kinda stomping on there. Let's just try normal. It's quite a bit of movement.
Part two of the beverage test. Let's see how much it disturbs it with these steps when I walk up and down. You see it still moves the water but the bottle isn't going anywhere. These steps are gonna go over and replace your existing RV steps that probably move a lot when you step on 'em to get in to your travel trailer or when you're leaving your travel trailer. These are gonna be a far sturdier step because it makes ground contact here at the bottom.
The feet slide down. So it's not just free hanging when you step on it. It's pushing up against the ground so that adds extra stability when you're going up and back down the steps. Stable steps are pretty important for a number of reasons. Just walking in and out, you wanna be able to do that safely, especially if you don't have a rail on there. You gonna make sure that the steps aren't moving underneath it as you're trying to run down or run up from. Now another thing would be, if people are sleeping, you don't wanna wake anybody up. So if you're an early riser, you get up before everybody else, you're going to exit the trailer, you don't wanna wake everybody up by having the trailer move back and forth when you step in or outside. Same thing with night owls like me. I stay up really late out by the campfire and then come in super late. Don't wanna wake anybody up when I'm trying to walk up the steps quietly. Another great thing about these steps is how wide they are. I don't have to worry about missing one as easily as you do in some of the two steps approaches. You see most of my foot fits on there on each step. So I can trust that step as I'm coming up in here or leaving too. Along with aluminum steps, they have grip tape at the end. It's gonna help you out even on those rainy days. If there's a little bit of water on the steps, you don't have to worry about slipping on straight up aluminum. It's also got grooves in here to help grab when you step on it there with your shoes. There's also a grip strip here at the top. So even when you're stepping up off the step and into your trailer, you have some grip here. Storage is also very simple. You just lift it up. And it being aluminum steps it's not really that heavy. It just goes into place. You can turn the handle, it clips in. You got these two strikers that catch on the doorframe. So it just stays right there when you fold them up. So when you're going to travel, it's that easy just do it. You don't have to worry about shifting to 'em the right way to get into this compartment underneath anymore. It just goes up and stays in place. You see, I can pull on it here. It's not gonna come back out. Just as easy to set up, you're gonna take this lever, turn it. That brings in the strikers so you can bring the steps down. It's got a built in handle right here underneath the step. I like that because I don't have to worry about just grabbing the step and some random spot. Not that that's hard or anything but I know the handle's here. That's what I'm supposed to use. So we bring it down all the way to the ground and you see how it kind of hangs there for a second. What we're gonna do is come here on the backside. Once we get the steps where we want 'em, we're gonna push in on this silver tab. It's gonna release this foot. So I'll hold it with that one. Turn that foot down until it makes contact with the ground. And it'll cl
