    Despite the problems the Chinese showed more capacity for resistance than the Japanese expected, the Japanese empire thought that this war would be the same as the previous war (1894-1895) where China would be defeated in months, but seeing this impressive resistance and obstinacy, the Chinese had a great nationalism just as the Japanese had a great honor and devotion to bushido and the emperor.

      That definitely shocked the Japanese at the time, who thought that they were superior to the Chinese in every way.

      @@AnakinSkywakka it was weird because, they knew the chinese were just a bunch of rice farmers with muskets, living in a village in the mountains that still uses traditional blades from long ago... But seeing fully trained intelligent Chinese soldiers with the most modern equipment in organized fashion was the weirdest thing for the Japanese to see.

      Your right even tho the Chinese were poorly armed it was their spirit that kept them resisting the Japanese

    While this battle was taking place in the north of China in the province of Shnaxi was the battle of Taiyuan, the Chinese gathered 580,000 troops and the Japanese 140,000, from September 1 to November 9 the Chinese resisted causing 70,000 casualties to the Japanese to a price of 200,000 Chinese losses, however due to the superiority of the Japanese artillery combined with the tanks and planes the Chinese had to withdraw, from then until 1945 the communist guerrillas would cause severe annoyances to the Japanese until 1945.

      Meh, the massive naval battles between Japanese imperial navy and US Navy which are poor represented in history is more interesting from Japanese prospective. But the big problem with japanese side in ww2 is that most of them straight up died in major battles.
      This is why the second sino japanese war has so much information because they lived to tell the story. So many Naval battles are lost to history from the japanese side =(.

    China gathered 600,000 soldiers and Japan 300,000 soldiers, the Chinese had many troops but most of them were volunteers with a fairly basic training and the artillery was 150mm a very small fleet of planes and tanks, Japan had many tanks, many planes and the cannons could reach 280 mm (from the ships), also with Shanghai was then the backyard of the powers they would be more concerned for Hitler than for the Japanese and that inclined the battle to the favor of the Japanese Empire, The Chinese they resisted for 73 days from August 13 to November 26 (almost 4 months) causing 98,417 Japanese losses at a price of 250,000 Chinese losses.

      Yes, I am aware that the 88th division and its brethren were trained by German advisors as part of the Sino-German cooperation until war broke out with Japan.
      What bothers me is that despite the intense gun fire none of the shots ever seem to connect with anyone. Not only is that deliberate plot shield, it's a poor quality of the film.

    • @jogiff
      @jogiff 7 лет назад +3

      I think you're overestimating how accurate and deadly small arms are in real battle. There were about 50 million deaths in WW2 excluding those from disease and famine. I don't know how many of those were from small arms fire, but let's just assume (for convenience rather than any facts or statistics) that it was 50 million. The US alone produced 50 BILLION rounds of small fire ammunition. It seems reasonable to assume that the rest of the world produced another 50 billion rounds. If only 5% of this was used then it would still take 100 rounds on average to kill someone.
      This is with some very generous assumptions. More likely it took thousands of rounds since bombings and artillery killed millions more and in this particular war millions more were executed.

    • @jerrysu3296
      @jerrysu3296 7 лет назад +2

      +jogiff have you even been to the range with a vintage firearm? K98s aren't as accurate as your modern day carbine but I can tell you that they could do the job at the distance the guys in the video are firing at each other.
      There's no debate about this. They're trying to make a half assed action film and can't bother to even show one guy wounded by shrapnels.

    • @jerrysu3296
      @jerrysu3296 7 лет назад +1

      +jogiff I'm not debating whether famine or whatever factor took more lives. I'm saying this video is shit in that it's over six minutes of direct intense gunfire and not one person is even grazed. People get hit when running across fields without covering fire or when they are directly in enemy sights. These fuckers are dodging and running from shrapnels and machine gun crew fire as if Matrix couldn't be bothered to hire an FX crew for the slow motion dodging.

    • @turkey2003
      @turkey2003 7 лет назад +1

      Jerry Su the thing is they wouldn't be fighting in range conditions. I had a former veteran from eastern Europe tell me once when we went out shooting that to really replicate accuracy during war we needed to hike 15 miles for 2 days with no food and little water to point of dehydration. Sleep only 4 hrs and then try and shoot to test our accuracy. I can imagine why studies say it takes something like 250,000 fired bullets to even hit someone. So this is actually accurate. The shrap metal missing is kind of ridiculous though. Ohh and they are firing type 24 mausers, a licensed copy of the mauser banner 1924, not k98.

    Why Chinese wear German helmets?

    • @simonyip5978
      @simonyip5978 5 лет назад +2

      Prodromos P the Nationalist government of China bought a lot of German weapons and equipment during the 1930's, and the best Chinese Army Divisions were organised and equipped with a lot of German weapons.
      The K-98 rifle, the MG-34, the steel helmets, the light Panzer I and II tanks, etc were also used in quite large numbers.

      @@MrPro897Well the Germans just stop being allies since the Japanese and German agreement of an alliance happened back in 1941
      And since the shortage of the German equipments(or i guess just their helmets) the Chinese nationalists were only given British helmets(they also had french helmets if i remembered correctly due to the trade of French indochina)

    Camera moving around TOO much trying to portray movement of soldiers. If you are going to use this technique do it only a bit. People like me will get sick just watching the scenes. Use REALLY good CG machine gun fire or don't use it t all! They are just too fake looking so it will take the audience out of the scenes, as it doesn't look realistic. Close up of actors need to be more focused for the camera shots as well as the acting. The actors are obviously not in the moment. The spoken Japanese are terrible! It reminds me of the bad Japanese, Cantonese , and German used in the 1940s war films used by American actors. This is 2018. If you use languages in your films use properly spoken ones. Assume a global audience is watching. The acting is not strong at all. Way too many film cliches used, including the music.There are too many bad things to list. It's really too bad as Chinese films have good costumes (for the most part), and places to film. The set dec is always fabulous and looks real, however, the filming and music is always too over the top. Too much copying of current war film camera style used and not enough of telling the story with the CAMERA. Watch the great master Japanese and American film directors of the 40's-60s. Study their techniques. If you are going to shoot a scene always , always, always, ask why are you moving here or there. Like acting there's a motivation. Don't just do it. I've studied the battle of Shanghai of the 2nd Sino Japanese war extensively, and I would say for MOST major WW2 films done in China today, not only are they really bad replicas of the German M35 ,they've got the sun insignia on the Chinese soldier's German M35 helmets WRONG. You can see this on RUclips. They've placed them on both sides of the helmet when they should only be on the left side. I was really surprised this film did it correctly. If you are going to put money into your film make sure the costume and everything else is period perfect. Chinese films has great potential to do a lot better. You can be that director. The difference between amateurs and professionals, are the professionals care about the details. Details add up and BECOMES the bigger picture. A bigger and better picture.

      I'm pretty sure this is an accurate rendition of the actual soldiers in the battle, which they don't need much of a story ecrept the betrayal of see in the battle. It would have a better story if the commanders were involved or protagonists to make the decisions.

      The reason is because this isn’t a movie but an reenactment. Reenactment aren’t as expensive as movies so there wouldn’t be a lot of crazy things happening. The actors aren’t Japanese but Chinese since ofc it’s an reenactment
