    Jean's skill actually doubles his class growths, which makes him a very versatile unit. Class growths are more important than personal growths in this game so it makes sense.

    • @buddylord3276
      @buddylord3276 Год назад

      why? I mean, I'd rather it double personal growth, because that's a substantial gain to every stat. He already has like 25-35 in most stat gains, so doubling that would be awesome plus class growths. But I get your point of versatility. He's basically good at what you want him to be good at.

    • @rebirthofleo
      @rebirthofleo Год назад +3

      @@buddylord3276 I think doubling personal growths would be too broken lol. Doubling class growths is still really good. Reclassing Jean as an Axe Fighter gives him 60% speed growth and 80% str growth as a Berserker or 70% speed growth and 60% str growth as a Warrior which has a skill that gives +50% damage when attacking broken enemies and access to bows.

      My understanding is that it doesn't technically Double growths. It actually rolls for that stat growth 2x. And if Jean gets his growth in a stat the first time, it doesn't roll the 2nd time.
      What this mean is that if Jean gets Tikis Growth skill, instead of gaining a 50% additional Growth to his stats. His base Growth is Doubled by Tiki skill, then rolled 2x. So this is effectively a 4x growth.

      He's not only versatile, he basically get to compete for the best growths in the game for whatever advanced class he feels like, letting you double up on, or avoid certain units entirely.

    Louis’s personal skill doesn’t boost defense. It reduces damage by 2. Combined with Great Knight’s class skill and Alear’s personal skill, if you’re standing between an attacking foe and female Alear while there’s another female next to her (which is very likely again due to Alear’s skill, hell if you put Chloe she can activate her personal skill at the same time), you get -6 total damage per attack, regardless of physical or magic. If you equip Eirika’s gentility+, this becomes -11 damage per attack. Easy S tier ability for me. This combined with Chole’s personal skill is why I also think female Alear is way better than male.

      Exactly alot of ppl don't realize that it says damage and when they look at Louis they think "oh Armor Knight must be defense" he is soo much better than Jade because it reduces damage and Louis will most likely be closer to females as most of the best units in the game are female.

    Anna‘s personal skill is interesting in that it is much more useful on hard then maddening because the lack of random spun enemies in maddening runs. Jean's expertise is a bit different. It doubles the growths provided by his class instead of a flat 20% to all growths so only really great on a promoted class or Thief if you want early value. Considering the two promoted classes he has access to it's a bit niche.

      Funnily enough, Martial Monk has better growths than either of its promotions. Martial Master loses 5% growth on magic, and High Priest loses all of its Str growths(although it does give bonus Speed growths). This means Jean is losing out on a lot of growth in Maddening after he promotes, so he actually wants to stay as Martial Monk until he hits level cap(or level 19)

    I honestly think that Merrin's skill is better than Clanne and Framme's. It might just be because I had a lot of female units deployed but this skill was almost always active for her and it buffs the allies as well so its nice to have these boosts to hit and avoid. The allies also don't have to be adjacent like with Louis' skill so it's easy to have as a nice passive bonus.

    Protips-
    on Ivy: Single Minded triggers from Celica's Echo. Give her Draconic Hex and she'll obliterate anything with the follow up attack. That interaction alone is A tier to me.
    on Saphire: Will to win combined with Resolve and other 'low hp' skills makes her harder and harder to kill. I'd honestly suggest speccing her into a General so her survivability is insane.
    on Hortensia: While her skill is indeed good if you go more healer, she's a very powerful offensive stave user and she's very mobile. I'd argue she gets less utility from this skill than you think.
    on Lindon: His skill is completely broken. You can easily get 100% crit, and the interaction with the thunder bond ring is insane. Only reason I would put it A tier instead of S is because the bond ring requires some manipulation/grinding to get.
    on Bunet: This skill is actually pretty freaking good. You can turn a 50 gold food item into other healing items, making you money. The only stickler is that he has to use it and you have to do inventory management after each fight/cook the right stuff to get leftovers often. Combine it with the skill Favorite Food! People talk about Anna farming but Bunet is just as good, so if you bring them both you can be making some cash.

    Boucheron's skill is much better than Etie's and Alfred's. Once you get the Lucina emblem he basically has +2 strength for the entire rest of the game since that unit will almost always follow-up once its bond level is high enough. Etie's and Alfreds skills only work on the enemy phase, and are both counterintuitive to their unit types, Alfred wants to maximize his movement to pick off far away enemies, and he obviously can't benefit from his skill and attack, and Etie has terrible defences so getting a strength boost for the enemy phase on a player phase focussed unit (and having to burn a consumeable) is super niche.
    Amber's skill is also quite good. Having +20 hit with less accurate but powerful weapons is a nice boon, and it works on enemy phase unlike Diamant's.

    I let him heal to 11 ish, where he gets some pretty good stats, then reclass into whatever I need. The reclass always puts him into a good stat line so long as the class stats are good, and he fills out whatever is lacking in my current party.

      I'd like to hear your thoughts on this, because I personally believe Big Personality is good BECAUSE we don't have to put Canter on her. Any other healer will be in harms way and thus will need Canter to not be hit next turn and also get out of the way of friendly units.
      But Hortensia being naturally further away, we can slap a more useful skill on her, despite Canter being a strong skill as it already is.

Lapis her skill idem to frannes, more avoid abuse, you make an argument that diamants would be better thus you imidiately derank it from an A to a C skipping your entire B tier, why even? also for anna, which is a great mage lategame at maddening, her skill makes it possible for me to use(abuse) all expensive staffs lategame, while still being able to donate to gain as much forge mats as possible for upgrades (which also cost alot if you do many on maddening), combine her with tiki as mage and breath atack can kill up to 4 units per breath racking up money quick... also very strong with dancer backup. also you make arguments on how late a skill is gained and judge it on that yet you dont praise early gained skills? also, talking about avoid abuse on maddening, you rank the best avoid abuser with corrin at A and initially lower, and call it niche while she can be in cover 100% of the time? easy S in my eyes tbh. could go on but ill stop ranting

    This tier list seems incredibly whimsical with where some skills are placed. Lapis and Zelkov are a few of my examples for mis-tiered skills that should be placed at least a tier higher, due to how good avoid is. Veyle especially bothers me, since she has one the best skills in the game, but is placed in C-tier only due to her joining time?
    Etie has, by far, one of the worst skills in the game. You need a dancer to even use it properly, unless you want to reclass her to a class that can enemy phase or give her Leif (which isn't a terrible idea). Citrinne is also incredibly overrated, as you need to be able to heal to use it and you don't want a frail mage walking around injured on maddening. Additionally, almost every wait skill is overrated with how player-phase focused engage is. I could go on, but I doubt people would read more than this.

    • @majnuker
      @majnuker Год назад +4

      I actually agree with placing late-joiner skills lower. Fact is, you've either completed your run by then or are struggling. You've already invested in other characters. It just has such a low impact at such a late time. I think this goes for most characters after Solm.

    • @majnuker
      @majnuker Год назад +2

      Oh and I agree on Citrenne's skill being useless (she's a hyper mage, why are you healing at all), and the wait skills are all around bad because enemy phasing is punished hard in Engage. Alfred does okay though thanks to Golden Lotus on Avenir class, which can halve incoming damage.

    • @NarrowSpark96
      @NarrowSpark96 Год назад

      The issue I have with placing skills lower because of join time is because I expect the skills to be rated mostly objectively. Obviously how much they help out the unit they're on should matter too, but when you join shouldn't affect personal skills to the point where an obviously S-tier skill gets C-tier. (Which is my problem with Veyle's tiering)

    • @ConstantEntity
      @ConstantEntity  Год назад

      Late to seeing this, but to confirm your confusion, I did 100% place skills depending on when you get them in the game. As this list is specifically tailored to being the best personal skills to beat maddening on. I initially had Veyle's skill in A/S tier, but due to her late join time, renders it much weaker. I'm surprised to see this, considering I mentioned context and viability during the intro of the video. I'll try to make it clear for my next videos!
      If I'm going to be one of those people that talks about maximizing every possible damage output - Etie can easily double with her +2 damage on top of a +3 damage from Alear giving a bonus of +5 x 2. Anyone who played maddening knows that most endgame bosses need a bit of cheese to hit them hard. Because if you don't kill them in 1-2 turns, you're most likely using a unit. Unless you freeze cheese, which I had to do for some chapters. Regardless, Etie with Lyn doubles, next to lyn, able to move twice with two dances from Seadall and Byleth, should be able to just absolutely destroy a boss health bar or two. Especially if you put a ton of investment into her, like I did. So the argument that you need a dancer to use it properly it moot, since when is a dancer dancing to give another unit an extra turn to increase overall value a bad thing?
      I don't know this, but does Canter activate if using a vulnerary/elixir? If it does, it's not an issue to use Citrinne's ability to it's full potential at that point. However, you do have a point that she really shouldn't be taking damage in the first place. But.. what if you were to throw Micaiah on her and combo her skill with Great Sacrifice? Now, you have your entire army healed, amidst battle, she's at 1hp in the backline, runs up to a front liner, pops elixir, then backs away with Canter. Maddening is also about using what you have. So I'm curious if you or anyone else knows if Canter pops with an elixir.

      @@plentyofpaper yeh good luck with that approach when you start running into griffins with 49 speed kek

      @@eternalchamp3882 All right. Lets go with 49 speed griffin. They double anything with 44 speed or less if they take no weapon weight penalty.
      Not sure how much of those you need to deal with. I'm in chapter 17 Maddening now, highest speed I've seen is 28. Most stuff is more like 15. But yeah, lets say you've got something 9 chapters later with 49 speed. They're going to double anything with speed 44 or less, which is above the cap for most units.
      Your 49 speed swordmaster will hit the griffen knight once. That 49 speed is for defensive purposes only.
      Griffen Knights cap strength at 40. Great Knights cap defense at 51. Single digit damage double strikes.
      A Radiant Bow +4 will have 69 Mt against fliers. Fogado is the natural user.
      The swordmaster is not the best answer to the Griffen Knight. He does all right, but there are better counters.

    You rated ivy’s skill too low. Her skill makes her so good at solo killing bosses with a dancer and byleth’s engage skill, since a lot of bosses have high defense and they stand on a tile improving dodge rate.

      She also has a respectable res stat, and her personal class’s passive scales off the enemy’s Mag. She seems to be designed to kill mages, which seems to track considering Thoron and Mae’s bond ring can help Ivy overcome the high res of most magic users.
