very true we are hell-bent on receiving people's validation..you can be good at something and still get passed over and that is still okay does not change the fact that you are gifted

Big disappointment that none of them turned. His voice was INCREDIBLE and that rendition was stunning.
He is Fantastic!!!!!! Are you kidding me? Nobody turned for him? And Gwen not only get's up and hugs him, but tells him that was gorgeous???? Empty useless words!!! I hope he goes up the charts!!!! His Voice is stunning!!!! I would listen to him all day!!! He would be perfect for Disney Movies and more!!!!!

It was an absolute disgrace that not one judge turned around - The standard and clarity and beautiful quality of Jay's voice show that he has Star quality - shame on the judges.

lemme explain guys, tjey were shock because all they thought is it is a woman singing. he's a note lower on some notes, i mean hes hitting some flat notes for a woman in their mind. But, only if they knew he is a guy, hitting some wide range with that voice, a golden buzzer would be hit, not a chair to be turned around

This guy has a once - in - a - generation type of voice in this people were not capable off turning around? This is the biggest example of how pearls are not to be given to dogs, because they would never appreciate it.
This is why The Voice Australia is so much better.

What an amazing performance! It's a shame that the judges didn't hear it. Granted we're not experts but that was an amazing voice to do that song so well. When they turned and saw who sang the song I get the feeling they probably thought eh she's good, but needs some work only to turn around and see him to be like wait you sang that you don't need any work just a little polishing and somewhere nice to stage you and bam

I think if the judges knew it was a guy with unique voice, they would've turned, but they probrably thought it was a female over doing/over dramatic/belting the song so they didn't turn. He has a great voice, some hiccups that obviously could be nerves etc.. but it was a good performance.

So here’s the thing. He is a very talented singer. Great tenor (maybe even technically a counter tenor) but those big notes he was probably a quarter tone flat. I’m not saying he’s not talented but those notes were just out of his range or his belt was just not fully supported so the notes came out flat. If the arrangement was a half step lower would’ve hit perfectly
With the way they reacted when they finally saw him, I think they were under the impression that it was a female vocalist that was struggling to hit notes that are typically easier for female counterpart. Also the width of his vocal tone would be seen as more of an inexperienced female vocalist problem than a chioce.
(Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of female vocalist with beautiful full width tones, but in this audition it was weak. As a male singer he would choose to do this to give it that more airy, angelic, feminine tone. A female singer would still likely only reserve any fullness to lower tones usually for that additude/'umph' factor)
Huge range but was a bit all over the place. He isn’t ready quite yet but very close
Matthew these people only have 1:30 to 2:00 to show the judges what they can do. Go watch Jej Vinson a couple years ago he did 'Passionfruit', that was equally 'all over the place' and they turned for him. You can just never tell.
That's the whole purpose of the show ... the judges are to help the contestant progress why would they come audition if they know they're ready?🤣

His pitch was all over the place through most of this so I'm not surprised they didn't turn BUT I still think someone should've turned. His tone was beautiful and with a little more breath support he would've hit those notes with ease. The judges should know nerves can get the best of contestants on this show and should've given him a chance on a team.

No one turned because they thought a woman was singing and the range for a woman doing that isn’t as impressive as a male singing that same range.
the voice is shaky when he's trying to hit the notes. listen carefully
I can understand why no one of the judges turned after listening the entire audition. I just felt that on the highest note it sounds more like shouting than actually singing the high notes but his voice is unique just need a little more practice I think. sorry to make this comment but hope it's a constructive one.
Should have left the falsetto out and just blasted full voice. It would have been much better and powerful. Also starting in a key about a 3rd lower would have helped also.

This is basically Brian Justin Crum's version. But Brian Justin Crum does it much better ...
This fellow has a pretty voice. But he needs to work on:
a) breath control - it's very poor, even allowing for nerves which he may or may not have had
b) changing register from chest voice to falsetto - it's clunky, not smooth, and often sounds like he's doing falsetto because he can't sing that high in a chest voice, even though he can
c) intonation - he's flat here and there, even though he goes on to sing higher notes in the next phrase.
And I feel the Mariah Carey-style embellishments were unfortunate, especially at the end.
I feel I understand why no judges turned.
I felt sad. Once again, show business target project achieved - that is - to catch your undivided attention, shake your mind and confuse your emotions. 😭😭😭 Why no one turned?

To me this was almost as good as Loren Allred. I wasn't too pleased that seeing the singer changed my outlook a bit. That was a good test of prejudice.
On the other hand, the voice didn't turn the judges' chairs. So in a blind audition they didn't hear something as good as Loren Allred.

He sounded great, but it doesn't take a singing coach to hear the pitch is off and breathing is bad. That's why they didn't turn. It's not a conspiracy.
