K-Mag had his first dance against Seb at Spa in 2014, and that was a cracking battle too, even though K-Mag went over the line once or twice with his defense. This race at Japan last year (2022) was so great. Vettel kept fighting untill the end. The camera's didn''t show this amazing racing by Vettel but focused on the top 3. Was so excited and saddened by the fact that this was one of his last F1 races.
you can really see that the aston martin only delivers its power in the higher gears, whereas in the lower it simply couldnt keep up with the others. poor sebastian had to work hard to get that car fighting for points
It's a bit funny yet sad to know that the only years Aston Martin (and predecessors: e.g. Racing Point, Force India...) did not perform well were in Seb's years in 2020 and 2021😢
@@groundedgamingYeah, that statement doesn't work when you take into an account the entire history of the team For example, from 2003 to the start of the hybrid era, the team spent its time as either a low midfield car or outright backmarker So while the 2021 and 2022 cars weren't great, they certainly weren't as bad as 2008 Force India or 2005 Jordan for example
And as a vettel fan, it breaks my heart to know how good the car is this year and he left. I know it's impossible and they hate each other but just imagine a vettel and Alonso line up with this 2023 car.
The car is average at this point in the year, they got out developed despite having plenty of money and testing allocations. Sucks for AM but I don't feel so bad for Seb anymore.
@@julianmorgan79 Vettel and Alonso really don't hate each other, honestly it could've worked out fine but the fans would create a massive drama about them and trying to see who would be the better driver.

Even though his raw speed wasn't quite the same in his latter years, Seb's racecraft was still among the best on the grid even in his final season. Stellar stuff from my goat.
That race was a possible Top 5, whole race between the Red Bulls, Mercedes and the remaining Ferrari (and even leading for some time), but that terrible Pit Stop really killed his chances,at least he got a chance to get back to top 10.
Can we also acknowledge how shit the stability of the Aston was💀oversteering while wheel to wheel with Kmag mid cornering, and literally going all over the place at the brake point later.
I think the key here is before the triple right hander, he tries to slow down more in a straight line so he cut back inside and get a quick exit so he go round the outside in the triple right handers. It leaves him having to turn a lot more and a lot earlier but he gets on the power a lot earlier too
We usually only take a single line as the "racing line" however I think that the racing line changes if you're going a slower speed in a given corner. Like this one, or the chicane right after the 2nd straight in Abu Dhabi, taking another line while slower can end up letting you carry more speed.
Seb doing line changes a lot. I remember canada 2022, after turn 1 and turn 2 exit, because of the rain he choosed different line (accelarate better) and worked perfectly. He doesn't drive like machine. He is genius i think in racing wise
I mean this isn't a fast line regularly. He loses a lot of time on the corner where he overtakes. But obviously the idea of this line is purely to get the inside line for that corner and overtake so it's really smart driving by Vettel.
That was insanity! Seb seemed so comfortable in those overtakes, also that oversteer in the last move was crazy 😅. Really one of the best overtakes 👍👍👍

You can actually see him preparing for the manoeuvre at T15 where he went wider and used all the track at entry hence had higher corner & exit speed at T15 and beyond.
I was so happy to see that finally work, in 2018 when Hamilton tried this around the outside of Verstappen at the same corner. Only at the end of the race the marbles were so bad/those cars took so much more speed through there that Hamilton went wide. Alpine was not even able to finish last races, engines were dying. He asked if they put a brand new engine to Vettel's car to make the test. Answer was no.
