Oh my goodness! I didn't realise that this gorgeous song is about the death of the boy. Suicide by drowning. I thought it was a lullaby, which I suppose it is in a horrific kind of way.
Jonas sings it very beautifully with gorgeous expression.

It IS a lullaby.....the boy imagines the stream singing him to sleep as he drowns.

Hi !
As always, it is here Helmut Deutsch at the piano ! He was Jonas Kaufmann's closest teacher and helped him a lot while he was a young student... Later, he became more like a friend, and it is extremely rare to see Kaufmann singing with another pianist, which is why I hadn't mentioned it in the description... But you're right, I probably should have ! ; )
