San Angelo is my hometown and I have lived here nearly all of my life. It’s a lovely city to raise a family. The downtown area and Ft. Concho are both wonderful places to visit. The water lily ponds are amazing too. The rock work in this park was done after the war. I love visiting this area of town. The Texas Movie Theater has great memories. Saw lots of movies in the late 50’s and 60’s in this theater. I love hearing the church bells ringing. They ring everyday at noon.

My best friend in high school grew up in San Angelo. His dad was TWA commercial pilot who flew jumbo jets all over the world but his favorite place on Earth was his 3 acre watermelon farm just outside of San Angelo. Those were some of the best tasting watermelons I ever had in my life...sweet memories of more innocent times gone by.
Glad to see some representation of my hometown. Very nice city and a very nice place to settle down in. Love to see things that I see every day from a different view
Well i have lived here most of my life..the places you showed are good places to see but there's sooo much more than just that. San Angelo is a strange mix...college town..military town...retirement town..its a large town with small town mentality. People are friendly...something i didn't understand til i moved away a few brief times. It is the kind of town where you can walk down the street and make eye contact with someone and say hello to the stranger and they don't shrink away in suspicion..they will greet you in kind. Its an excellent place to raise kids...new kids are welcomed not excluded..also a lesson learned. Overall San Angelo is worth visiting..or moving to.
Thank you for this video. I was stationed at Goodfellow in 1973-74, none of this beautifully preserved/restored stuff was there when I was. I remember San Angelo as a sleepy old West Texas town where the people were SO friendly, despite (what I thought was) its shabbiness. I used to leave the base just about daily to eat, I remember a little diner on Chadbourne where they served the best biscuits & gravy on the planet. I bought my first pair of cowboy boots here, and still remember the friendliness of all the people I met. Thanks again, the modern San Angelo is beautiful, thank you for highlighting it in your vlog. They must have spent a lot of money on beautifying downtown and the riverwalk in the last 50 years.
As a native San Angelo girl, I can tell you that the people are still just as friendly. I moved away briefly and was amazed that people were not as friendly everywhere as they were at home.

I live in San Angelo. If you would have kept walking down Paintbrush Alley you would have come to an area where there were local sculptures and paintings. I’m very impressed with this city, looks so inviting. The parks and river are just what a person need to find a place to relax. The water Lilly park was a first for me. This is on my list to visit.
I went the fire academy on Goodfellow AFB in 2016 for my MOS school and got stuck there for 10 months because it was backed up. I really liked that town. Shhh I like the non traffic and not busy stores here in San angelo. It's like a little hidden gem in Texas. I love going to the mineral wells in christoval.
Thanks for putting a spotlight on the town I've lived in for most of my life at this point(not from here originally, but I've been here since the early 90s). Like all towns, there will always be their issues but I can speak confidently that this is a very nice place to both grow up in and also raise a family which isn't something a lot of people can say about a lot of places.
Makes me long to be able to travel again! Heck, I can't even get myself to the end of the driveway any more. But that doesn't keep me from loving your travels and looking forward to the next video! Thanks.
I live in San Angelo, it's a pretty nice place. I officiated a wedding right beside the little waterfall in the lily garden... A beautiful place for sure. Hope you enjoyed your visit.
Thanks for this video on San Angelo. Looks like a great place. We've been thinking of moving to Texas from SC. This was one of the candidates. We're retired AF so we thought we'd fit in in an AF town. Glad to know more info on it from someone who's been there. As always thanks for the great videos!
It's a beautiful small city, RR. The river walk is gorgeous, and very family oriented. We stayed at a "hotel cluster" as I call them - Holiday Inn, Hilton Home2 Suites, Courtyard By Marriott, Springhill Suites, etc...they were all new, and the area around there was very nice. And with 100,000 people, it's also big enough to have everything you need. But it still feels like a small town. Best of both worlds.
I live here in San Angelo it a unsafe city. The crime is going up. Last night someone tried to steal my mass air flow sensor and the city smells bad. The water is super toxic and not safe at all.
@@s.e.986 I've been here since 2016 and never had a problem. I take preventative measures, my cars live in my garage, we have surveillance all around the house and I believe in my castle laws. If someone comes a looking for trouble, trouble they will get.
I guess I need to go back and visit my hometown after seeing all the new additions. Shame that we all ignored the river walk and Concho Street back in the 80s. We just went to the mall
You have to come back through and go back to the Santa Fe Park to the Bosque and see all the mosaic art pieces. Also did you notice the mural painted sheep scattered throughout the town? Those are super cool too!
I moved to San Angelo, in 1994. Just love, “ my almost a city”. Had to move away 20 years ago, but still hope to move back, one of this days. I surely miss my home. 🍃
If you ever find yourself back in San Angelo, I'd suggest visiting Pop Art Alley, which is also downtown. There's some neat works of art there, some done by myself and other art students at the university. The art museum is a great place to visit too!
Who knew there were so many types of water lilies? Being somewhat horticulturally challenged, I always thought a water lily was just a water lily 😁 San Angelo looks like a nice, family-friendly place to live. And kudos to whoever has been responsible for preserving those historical buildings you showed. I hate to see such places allowed to become run-down. The murals are wonderful, they add color and liveliness to a town - provided they're well-executed of course, as these ones are. I'm a sucker for street fairs, or however the locals may refer to them. You never know what cool stuff might be on offer to look at or buy. Agreed, that '59 Corvette was sweet!
@@toddtalley1576 I'd love to Todd, but it's a bit of a hike for me - I'm in Australia. I have been to the States a few times, many years ago, but those visits were mostly work-related so I wasn't as free to roam around as much as I would have liked. I'd love to take a driving tour around the country someday, like LS does. But thanks for the invitation! 🙂
We moved to San Angelo from Sacramento CA in 2014. You picked a good day to visit. Downtown is usually dead on the weekends. Yes, the river walk is nice. The city puts up a beautiful 12 days of Christmas display that runs the length of the river. We visited Uvalde in July. Very sad walking around viewing the memorial.
I live here in San angelo. Ft concho is also where they had all the kids in the YFZ ranch from Warren Jeff's. Documentary on Netflix has san angelo in it as well.
You should visit the pop art Museum here if you ever return. It was once a bowling alley but it got struck by lightning twice then it was graffitied and people ended up turning it into what we now know as the pop art Museum! Also visit paintbrush alleyway if you ever get the chance! It's wonderful! I'm proud to be a resident of this town :)
Just googled San Angelo as you were looking at the car's, see that it's geographically right in the heart of Texas. San Angelo is drawing me in, so much I like about it. The history and vibe reminds me somewhat of Prescott AZ, a Western Town back in the day full'of brothels, saloons and gunslinger's. Great narrative and video talent, Lord Spoda.
@@jmcosmos you are correct, Brady is closest to the center of Texas. San Angelo is in Tom Green County, Concho County is between Tom Green and McCulloch. Brady is about an hour and a half drive away.
@@Siggy4844 All that, I knew. Hell, we played Brady at football and basketball when I was in high school, fifty years ago, and I went through there several times a year as a kid, going to Del Rio and the border.
I used to live in San Angelo when I was kid in 72, we lived off chatburn, I used to takes walks with my grandfather on the concho river, and I think I went two different elementary schools Bellaire and Reagan.
Do you have plans to visit the Mountain towns of Texas, Alpine, Marfa, and Ft. Davis? So many people dont realize the beauty of the Davis Mts. I spend my Summers in Ft. Davis, same altitude as Denver Colorado.
It's not feminine to want to see the water lilies. You're just sharing it with your fans and viewers! I'll never go there and see it, so thank you. I've also never seen the Uvalde Memorial, nor will I. Such a senseless tragedy, but also such a beautiful tribute.
Fort Concho had Buffalo soldiers (black soldiers - the Indians thought their hair resembled that of a buffalo). Organized in February of 1987, the Fort Concho Buffalo Soldiers take part in the living history program of the Fort Concho Museum.
Hi Lord Spoda Beginning of video is very touching!😔 San Angelo is a nice rural Texas town. Murals are beautiful, water lilies are awesome (I was confused with Lotuses, but on googling, the difference between lilies and lotuses was clear, clearing the doubt), history well preserved, vintage car exhibition was impressive. Overall a great tour. Thanks for the video. Enjoyed. Waiting for the next one. Dying ghost towns along off roads must surely be interesting to watch. Take care.

This is Raymond from McKinney. I’ve enjoyed your videos immensely, especially the one featuring San Angelo, Texas. I was born there and actually went to school at the old Fort Concho elementary school. Thanks for sharing your travels😊
Awesome, Raymond! I enjoyed talking with you! 👍👍😀
Thank you for this awesome view of my hometown, San Angelo! I hope you can come back for another visit sometime. Safe travels!
San Angelo is a great place. I used to deliver to the Home Depot and Walmarts. Love that town!
Cool where u it now
Makes me long to be able to travel again! Heck, I can't even get myself to the end of the driveway any more. But that doesn't keep me from loving your travels and looking forward to the next video! Thanks.
Awesome. I'm making these videos for folks like you. :)
We have lived here in San Angelo for about 20 years . We were stationed at Goodfellow AFB. I love it, it’s a nice place to live
Thank you had Fun!
Come on we want you
@@s.e.986 I've been here since 2016 and never had a problem. I take preventative measures, my cars live in my garage, we have surveillance all around the house and I believe in my castle laws. If someone comes a looking for trouble, trouble they will get.
Love this, come again!
Nice! Thank you for taking us Uvalde TX!
I guess I need to go back and visit my hometown after seeing all the new additions. Shame that we all ignored the river walk and Concho Street back in the 80s. We just went to the mall
Born and raised in San Angelo. Love it here. It’s a beautiful small town.
Who knew?
A great example of texas history and modern times
Thanks for the video highlighting my town.I didn't grow up here, but it's the place I call home after retiring form the military.
Cool, Mark! It's a great town.
Who knew there were so many types of water lilies? Being somewhat horticulturally challenged, I always thought a water lily was just a water lily 😁
San Angelo looks like a nice, family-friendly place to live.
We agree on everything, Markus. :)
Come visit us sometime Markus
@@toddtalley1576 I'd love to Todd, but it's a bit of a hike for me - I'm in Australia. I have been to the States a few times, many years ago, but those visits were mostly work-related so I wasn't as free to roam around as much as I would have liked. I'd love to take a driving tour around the country someday, like LS does.
But thanks for the invitation! 🙂
In fact the collection numbers over 31,000 varieties of lillies
@@parazon9962 Really? That is amazing.
I would have loved to go into that General Store. And I loved Hank the cow dog!
He was pretty cool looking. :)
Haha never expected anyone to visit my home town of San Angelo. Kinda surreal to see it in the video lol
I hope to God you didn’t take Sacramento politics with you!
@@oldrango883 well, first of all your comment is rude….second, no we didn’t. That was a motivating reason to leave CA.
@@oldrango883 EXACTLY! They say keep austin weird, we say, keep san angelo backwards!
I live here in San angelo. Ft concho is also where they had all the kids in the YFZ ranch from Warren Jeff's. Documentary on Netflix has san angelo in it as well.
What a wonderful video ❤❤❤I love the water lilies beautiful and the butterflies
I've been watching your videos for a long time. I come from Germany and get to know your beautiful country through your videos. Thank you👍👍👍
Thank you for watching, Torsten.
Just googled San Angelo as you were looking at the car's, see that it's geographically
right in the heart of Texas. San Angelo is drawing me in, so much I like about it. The history and vibe reminds me somewhat of Prescott AZ, a Western Town back in the day full'of brothels, saloons and gunslinger's. Great narrative and video talent, Lord Spoda.
Thank you, JP!!
The closest town to the geographic centre of Texas is Brady, county seat of McCulloch county.
Brady calls it self "The Heart Of Texas because it is the center of Texas.
I used to live in San Angelo when I was kid in 72, we lived off chatburn, I used to takes walks with my grandfather on the concho river, and I think I went two different elementary schools Bellaire and Reagan.
To add to the water lilies, build it and they will come. All the varieties of butterflies, etc.
I so much enjoyed your tour of the towns loved it
Thank you, Edith!
So sad what happened to those kids. May God be with there families.
Do you have plans to visit the Mountain towns of Texas, Alpine, Marfa, and Ft. Davis? So many people dont realize the beauty of the Davis Mts. I spend my Summers in Ft. Davis, same altitude as Denver Colorado.
Gotta love that my home town is getting some publicity
Looking forward to making a return visit to Angelo this summer. Love me some Packsaddle BBQ!
It's not feminine to want to see the water lilies. You're just sharing it with your fans and viewers! I'll never go there and see it, so thank you. I've also never seen the Uvalde Memorial, nor will I. Such a senseless tragedy, but also such a beautiful tribute.
Thank you, Kim. :)
Love love this video 👍🏾 Thanks for doing this 🙂 From all of us in #SanAngeloTx💜🤠 I love my hometown 💜
Never thought id see San Angelo pop up on my recommendations
Awesome video. Thanks for being so detail.
When you showed Eggermeyers general store, you were standing in front of Miss Hatties. An old brothel, now a restaurant and museum.
Fort Concho had Buffalo soldiers (black soldiers - the Indians thought their hair resembled that of a buffalo). Organized in February of 1987, the Fort Concho Buffalo Soldiers take part in the living history program of the Fort Concho Museum.
wow so nice you vlog the place of Texas I hope I can go there
My home town getting some love 😊
What a lovely place. You don't see many of those old school theaters like the one in downtown .
Hi Lord Spoda
Beginning of video is very touching!😔
San Angelo is a nice rural Texas town.
Take care.
Thank you for the great comment, Rajeev. :)
