I had 2 Great Great Uncles who were pilots in WW2, one was a copilot of a B17 Bomber in the Italian v American campaign but was shot down by flak bombing a tank factory. my other GG (Great Great Uncle) was a Pilot Dive Bomber Pilot in the Pacific War. he was also shot down by a Japanese Destroyer in Iwo Jima.
