- Today, we're going to be talking about the importance of getting in the habit of writing your thoughts down through journaling.
Journaling can transform your thinking. By writing something down, you are taking the invisible and making it a reality through the physical motion of writing.
The journals of some of society’s greatest thinkers are invaluable. Were they geniuses because they journaled? Or were their journals reflections of their genius?

I never had a habit of makig notes from school, but one day my body etc forced me to start journling and today i discovered what in the actual fuck was happeening for so many years, i think some higher force was indicating me to for so any years to journal
I am just setting up my journal but I have specific ideas on how it will be set up.
A loose leaf binder. Pages on the left will be in black ink. This will be my main thought entry
On the right side I will write commentaries observations, questions relevant quotes inspired by the left page.
The advantage to this set up this is interned to be read months or years later. Any observations made years later on an entry can be written on the right hand page.
Even going over prior journal entries can inspire new entries.
Feb 28’24-1:00 pm - I’ve journalled for 53 yrs and consider it an anchor in my day. I am retired and widowed, kids grown, have a significant amount of time at my disposal, so I journal through out the day. I add drawings, stickers, coloured pens on coloured paper and make each pg pleasing to my eye. I write about whatever moves me positively or negatively. Bc I’m an ordinary person who’s recorded my mental health journey consistently for so long a local university archives my product. I’m 77 yrs old so this is ongoing. I am about to start teaching Journalling in my community so it’s great to have Jim Kwik recommend this great tool. Thnx!
I journal most days so that I can reaffirm my goals, remind myself of the kind of person I wish to become, and to reflect on my life so I may learn the necessary lessons to avoid making the same mistakes. It also allows me to discipline and direct my thinking.
Use journaling to identify who you are, what gives you happines, what are your motivators, how do you get excited, what are you scared of. And the use that knowledge for infitite happiness, exitiment, motivation and soo on.
I journal everyday. It has now became a daily habit for me since the start of 2024. I journal mostly about the thoughts that I have in my mind. I also journal about different events happening in my life and how am I reacting or responding to these events, how I look at these events, what is my mindset while reacting or responding to these events.
Journaling has been the best thing that has happened to me. It clears my mind of all the chaos, which helps me to analyze the situations with a clear mind. It has also helped me tremendously in understanding my own self. And the best part of this, is that it is just the beginning! And I know that by the end of 2024, this habit of journaling will transform me into my higher version!💯😇
Giving out all these priceless information for free is simply genius. Thank you
I've been journaling my whole wholesome life. As a kid I used to write poems aside from journaling how my day went and what assignments I have completed, but in 2017 I stopped journaling and fell in love with Eminem and been jotting down his lyrics and reciting after him, cause originally I'm from Ukraine and this was a huge outlet for me for learning English and I wasn't learning actually I was having fun cause I lived it and loved it. So my first journaling journey in English initially officially started on January 1st, 2020 since then I was solely scripting my scribbles, laying it out on the paper, when I felt like I'm missing the word to write in I would check the dictionary and immediately applying that word in the notebook.... but that doesn't end there... since I live rap and been infatuated with it since I was a whippersnapper I decided to jot down how my day went and what I learnt by rhyming and also playing different beats to it so that simply chipping you in and triggering you for more learning, eventually I became addicted to it and made up my mind if doing it until the rest of my days.
All of the people who are underestimating the power of journalism simply undermining their chances of what they're attempting to reach. However there'll be the time that you will memorize most of the information not even jotting it down, simply because you've been scripting prior. So for instance if I forgot something I instantly depicting in my head the scenes like I'm writing something and that's where you memorizing it all up!
Assimilate, Retain, Layout, Repeat...
I am having a journal for 15 days. Everyday make a day journal like a conclusion of mine days, an awaken to mine false attitude or behavior.
I am plans to have a dream journal for mine coming soon routine! Thank you for suggestion let me enjoy the journal and let this behavior become mine routine :)
I journal every day..my thoughts, my struggles..it acts as my personal Psychologist..I also have a gratitude journal that I enter all I'm grateful for every other day..I so believe in Journaling, thank you.
I've been journaling since childhood, but it I've only been writing everyday since 2010. Over that time, I've developed my journal into a calendar of events, a spiritual thought for the day, to-do list, and a daily processing of events. I use blue ink for appointments, red for the to-do list, purple for spiritual writing, and black for notes/daily processing. Occasionally, I'll use make a spread (thanks, BUJO) to develop an idea or program for work.
Nice method
Now I start my mornings with one of your videos, thank you so much for all the valuable content!
same here , every morning when I eat breakfast
lol you both are doing exactly opposite of a healthy morning routine

I have been journaling most of my life, I was inspired by my father, the benefits are awareness where we have been and grow to cope and transcend the lessons we face throughout our lives , it’s also good to add doodling and drawing when we have resistance inside also adds the practice of discipline ❤❤❤
I have been journaling every morning for the past year. I typically reflect on the prior day and thoughts on how I felt going about my daily rounds, what I am grateful for and an occasional rant of something that moved me from my peace that I forgive and let go.
Grateful for your conversations Jim🙏🏼
I've journalled for 2 years, this year I've stepped up and started to journal everyday on an a4 diary I have a personal and business journal. And they have helped me see where I go wrong and the thoughts I'm thinking and the feelings the come with it
I’ve been journaling for many years, use to be in books but then had issues with people not respecting privacy, one of my journals was vital info in understanding my mental health issues, now i journal almost every other day to process thoughts feelings and just a place to drop by thoughts in a place. Best tool I have stuck with all these years, it’s helped me understand myself and been my confidant.
I journal each morning and night. My morning journals are for simply listing 5 gratitudes; my night journals are for reviewing my day and noting valuable learning experiences.
I am 63 and have journaled during my lifetime sometimes for many months or years but I did not continue and I just started again.
Jim you are making a big impact in the world!
I used to journal when I was younger. Journalling was therapeutical for me. It helped me see my negative thoughts and changed them for better ones. I alined my life by doing something so simple as this. Currently I started writing again to check in with myself. Thank you for all the wonderful information you share. ❤
I usually journal only to materialize my thoughts, but now I’ll do it everyday since I see the impact of that! I’m sure I will improve more with your recommendations! Thank you very much Jim!! ❤
I journal my achievements,my goals and sometimes my statements too.I don't write down negative thoughts,I try to keep it positive,if I write down something negative often I delete it when I'm ready or rephrase it because perspective,if you change how you look at a failure,it's part of success.
Thank you Jim Kwik Sir.... I did Journal in my past years but later on i missed this habit. But I'm grateful and felt fortunate enough now i got the right way to taking notes and journal. This new year, I'll make my best journal ever of this kind Universe. Thank you for sharing your insights with us. May almighty God bless you always. Grateful forever to you!!! (:
Yes. I take notes. I recently picked up on journaling every morning. It feels great. I feel that I have more direction in my life. For about 5 years I have a gratetude diary I write in every day. I also started to write when I'm on the way to work or school. I just type into my phone. It gives me so much direction in my life. It helps me to make better decisions. It is my second brain. I have much more energy too. I am better organised and my thinking is way more clear.
Thank you for the video.
And thank you for providing the opportunity for me to put my thoughts down here. This helped me again to become a little bit more clear about myself.
I journal in my head mostly the same way I write out a lot of my novel and TV script scenes before I hit the laptop, but I want to start back journaling in a dedicated notebook.
I journal a few times a week. And really enjoyed how you split the page up. Excellent tactic. Thanks for all your work Jim. 👌
I'm journaling for 56 days and that is my habit now.. I came here because I noticed I don't have a consistent format it seems changing each week but still good to reread and thank you for some ideas on how can I do my journal
Thank you. Constructive journaling is what propels us to BECOME better as we go forward.
I use online journal a few months ago......still looking for the reason why but I hope I found my life is more grateful, thank you Jim
Thanks for this, Jim! ❤
Searching for ways to start journaling, glad to see your video. Yes written down your key point. Thank you.
Jim Kwik is a superhero & is here to STAYYYYYYYY!
Thank you, Coach Jim Kwik. I'll do journaling.
Thank you dear jim...
I journal my gratitude and goals per what Jack Canfield suggested. Sometimes I journal my accomplishments, and (rarely) I journal my challenges, but I will start doing that a bit more often now.
Thank you jim for sharing valuable information. Grateful thoughts to be captured in a journal, recall it, new perspective...
Awesome 👍 tips💡 keep posting...

I just found out about journaling.. And i started off today.. I wanna journal everyday for my self growth.. To improve each and everyday in whatever I do..
Great vid. I do morning pages basically a brain dump , I do gratitude journal & todo lists weekly monthly & quarterly review helps me too.
I journal about my emotions so I can objectively view and question them in a way that allows me to process them and find out what I truly think and feel. Additionally, I write out my goals and question their importance, steps to make them happen, and what my very next step needs to be to push forward. If I am not making motions toward it, then I re-evaluate it and redirect my efforts or failure toward it into positive action with steps. Moreover, it keeps me accountable to myself, even with evaluations on desires, like finding a mate and what my firm requirements for him and for myself are. The process works. Biggest question that really elevated it was “ If I could do something, anything, and knew I could not fail, what would it be?” That then leads to a goal or goals, which need steps to reach them. Simple.
I am going to apply your method of journaling, it's so practical and I am sure it gets your life in order in all aspects
I'm recovering from a stroke that happened in June 2020. I've journaled for 3 decades but for the past 2 yrs my hand has been affected by the stroke so I had to stop.
My hands are slowly getting better so I can write in my journal a lil bit now.
R
I have started taking note now since I have started following Jim. But I am not a journaling person. And I am not consistence with my action. I do it once a week maybe but not daily. My daily routine is different every day so cannot set the same time aside for the task whether it is meditation, exercise or study for self-improvement or even study for coursework. But when I decide to dedicate the time for a task I am 100% devoted but not for the long term it is like cramming.
Thank you 😊
I don’t journal each day but the crazy thing is I did when I was a kid. I’m getting back to my original self
I'm journaling but I lack consistency, thanks for your help, I'll become better
I do journal after the 1 day passed because I personally think it helps me in recalling the things that I have done in previous day and also my recalling power will be increased.
I have a grateful journal! 😊
Thanks 👍
Thank you
I really, do love your video.❤️
Thank you so much sir.
Your video is life changing to the youth.
thank you,
I relate most of the things.
I have stopped paper journaling but will start again. I went digital. I do not journal daily- but 3-4 days per week. I was more consistent I think when I used a notebook cause I carried a composition book in my purse. I usually write about my spiritual learning and personal insights.
Hey man, thx 4 the advices!
I've been journaling, don't remember the exact time, but couple of years for sure. I'm not really happy about the way I write. It's usually only what I did that day and not how I feel. I'm still learning how to Journal. I like some advice on really to journal? 🙏✍️ usually I write at night before I go to bed. But I don't really like to read it back...
I love you Jim your really good teacher! Thank you! 🤗
Great pieces of advice, thank yoU! ❤❤❤❤
Very understandable
whenever i journal i usually just talk to God, sometimes i have a hard time praying and ill get a bunch of ANTS throughout my conversation with God.
instead i write him small letters before bed and it really makes me feel more at peace, it kinda gives me that certainty that whatever i wrote down is actually making a difference in my life.
I have 3 journal. 1. is for what hapends in a day + i write 3 good things what hapends in the day. 2. is journoul to thinking about problem and self awarenes. 3. is sport journal i write there what i sport per day.
Thus as you would
I will be very ready
If l have conflicting thoughts l resolve the issues on paper with questions and factual answers. This brings clarity and accountability. Then I walk into the future with a clear vision of what action to take and what to avoid.
I take notes of almost everything, don't trust my mind to remember everything. Lol
I don't keep a journal based on personal perspective or goals, but intend to. Although, I do keep a creative thinking notebook and have since childhood. I always referred to it as my "Spawn of Boredom" Lol
Actually studies have shown that writing by hand leads to increased i formation retention because of the brain having to send signals to the arm and hand to form the words.
I have a non dated guided journal. I have a section on the left starting with Today was… and on the right I have three boxes with different questions.who did you show kindness today, what gets you excited today, where did you see love. I have a non dated and guided to post covid infection issues. I have bad days with the fatigue and joint pain and I have really horrible days. It has helped a-lot especially days of frustration and anger.
Yes I do, keep a journal,I have so many😅 I have an addiction to buying new journals 😂I’m looking forward to reading your book limitless
Bro not blinking is getting into my soul
I keep a digital journal (in OneNote) page for every week and have automations and templates that automatically create the pages. I use it for work, learning, self-improvement, etc. any thoughts. Also have separate journals for other things that I would want to review frequently because the weekly journal is hard to review.
I've got to learn how to use this left-right method better with digital journalling... I tend to just duplicate the page and then use sub-bullets for additional thoughts related to the note.
How do the automations work?
@@matthewmateomatias I created them using Autohotkey
I have not consistently journaled. I run out of stuff to write. Mostly likely I have belittled myself to a point where I felt that I had nothing worth writing. I ready to change. I am almost 50 yrs old I don't want another 50yrs of what I have now.
Hi Jim love your videos and information you put out. I am a little confused where you said to put a left side and right side on a journal and on the left side we are to take notes as we watch the lessons? What lessons are you referring to? Do you have a class for journaling? Thanks so much
I journal To focus on my goal..
Dude i need your help on two important matters i'd wish to keep up, 1) journaling techniques 2) reading habits and 3) absorb content and develop interest in brain development. im 30, still living with dad and in and out of mental hospital and still struggling to be in school. i hope you can help. or anyone here for that matter, thanks.
Mr Kwik, thank you for your guidance as always, I have a question, I always loved stories, even if I watch a movie I like watch a true story. I used to write very nice short story or just a writing words were coming to my mind, and it was so soothing, satisfying when reading it myself, was proud of me! Due to many many hardships last 10 yrs, extreme health issues as result of stress, all in all, I stopped that, all it comes to my mind all very disturbing memories that damaged me in all aspects, all traumas, and I write them down many times, YET I can’t write anything about “ dreams” or what I want, why, the hardships have them completely faded away all of that🤦🏻♀️😔I am not sure how I can go back and rethinking those I wished?
How can I use this? Why must I use this? When I will use this?-> I will use this when I read books and listen lectures because I want to think and memory for self growth.
💡
Hi Jim, where did u get the t-shirt with the books on it?
Get it
I'm impressed by the impact of this material. A book with akin insights was a catalyst for my personal transformation. "Rising From Within: Unlocking Your Innate Power to Conquer Adversity" by Vincent Starling
Οkay, i am starting journaling everyday at 8am 🖊
Thanks for the info, and I do journal every day. I just Journal by write down what I do day to day. Just curious does listening to music help?
How do you organize all these written notes written from months and years. I find it very difficult to sort and arrange these all information i have written down. I can not use search words like digital. I love to do writing, but because I cant organize and able to access right information I find it frustrating...
👍😊
I’m using my iPad to journal. Paper and pencil are more satisfying. At this time I write about too many subjects, health, world affairs, manifesting, financial, emotional. I’d like it to be more focused on fewer subjects. I wonder which way is best for me.
what if I write on top of ipad? u mentioned about getting a notebook
I want to get started but I absolutely can not hand write I must learn to filter thru voice text or type. Can I still do this effectively
Hi. I posted something on Saturday night around 10:45 EST. I am not really active on these things and I’m not sure if I did it right or if for some reason my post was taken down. Can someone let me know if they did not allow it why? Thank you.
What to do if you can’t see any progress in your journaling. Some times I think I have no benefit from doing it.
Does journaling on an iPad with a stylus pen have the same effect as pen on paper? I just really like to have things organized, and I don't like the idea of having so many journal books.. Thoughts? :)
What is your take on mindmaps?
But you are doing well now..We have stories like how they made so many blunders, mistakes, lost buisnesses, jobs this video shud help them...
I will do it...I have an agenda only.
i journal every day. usually it's a recap of the day. That sort of thing. Becoming something i enjoy doing dayly.
I would like to keep a journal but writing about the same things would definitely get me bored and probably have me stop and probably not mean what I write down 😐
I'm taking notes right now because I love your content and you just said It would help me to learn better. ❤️ Sadly I don't do journaling but I'm about to start thanks to this video. Blessings 🌷 you are amazing
I am confused. Is journaling the same as keeping a diary?
I have a really really really serious question…. How does his eyes not become dry
You had me up to the point where you interred that journaling precedes genius. That's totally ridiculous (in my opinion)
My fear is that someone might read my deepest thoughts. Imagining this is even making me cringe.
Same but now am gonna start a journal on my this birthday... I'll not annoy myself just for this what other would think of me ... Journaling iz important for our growth but still if you don't want write some thoughts not your secrets...
why cant ppl just get to it without boring ppl with there stories
Young ones these days don't bother to read or write, they want fast life, latest devices, some are working hard for thier flashy cars and fast food etc etc...
You speak empty words no specific no sense.....
What are your thoughts on hand writing notes on tablets? Such as using Mircosoft OneNote to digitally write notes on an iPad?
