We can argue over who said what, or which side did more to make us divided, but for our country to be truly strong again, we need to look past certain differences and not see each other as enemies. The problem was that Trump didn't admit to losing, not even when none of the 60 cases managed to prove mass fraud. So if Trump knew he lost fair and square, the incitement accusation was clearly stated since day 1 after the election. That was actually what the house managers argued. They even try to show premeditation on Trump's side through the declarations he made way before the elections. The defence tried to frame it as "anything before January 6th doesn't matter".

Yet Mitch McConnell admitted that Trump was to blame for inciting the riot, but he alluded to being unable to vote to convict because he (McConnell) thought this impeachment was unconstitutional. So once Trump's lawyer effectively dismissed any of that and stated the question and voting was regarding the incitement charge, then that cleared the way for McConnell and other Republicans to give up their bullshit arguments and convict. After all, the accusation or charge here was 'Incitement of insurrection' so if Trump's lawyer was saying his opinion was irrelevant then so was whether this was constitutional or not. And then just for good measure, they had already decided via a vote that it was constitutional and is exactly why the trial went ahead, so why then did McConnell and other Republicans still vote to acquit when their previous excuse was no longer an issue?

@@archterran6734-phasedout I prefer to have leaders who take responsibility for their actions and actively try to unite the US, not demonize the 'other side', or who spend considerable energy to try to pin blame on others than to actively solve our issues. We can argue over who said what, or which side did more to make us divided, but for our country to be truly strong again, we need to look past certain differences and not see each other as enemies. We need the combined brainpower and will of the Left, Right and the center to solve some of the big problems our country is facing.

This is what fascists and communists do when they come into power. Oh and those guns you bought while blue cities around the US were vandalised, looted, and burned? He wants you to now have a license to purchase, including ammo, and the only way you get that license is by being cleared by a therapist who also will ask two people close to you about your mental stability. So your ability to protect yourself and your loved ones is in the hands of a therapist and two people you hopefully didn't piss off. He also wants to ban all Simi automatic weapons which is basically everything.
The problem was that Trump didn't admit to losing, not even when none of the 60 cases managed to prove mass fraud.
So if Trump knew he lost fair and square, the incitement accusation was clearly stated since day 1 after the election.
That was actually what the house managers argued. They even try to show premeditation on Trump's side through the declarations he made way before the elections.
The defence tried to frame it as "anything before January 6th doesn't matter".

@@nickiiishan5050 no the opposite happened a qualified lawyer showed us all how corrupt the senate is, evidence not sourced correctly being used by democrats, evidence that had actually been doctored being used as fact when it was fiction, trump speeches having the parts where he called for peaceful protest being removed, dates on evidence doctored by as much as a year to try and twist his words, it’s a disgrace that normal law is being ignored in senate. The guy sitting in charge of the enquiry had actually called for trump to be impeached, he was in the evidence, he was also from the opposition party, it was a complete farce and this lawyer showed them all as clowns 🤡🤡

What you seem to be oblivious to (perhaps due to brainwashing) is of course he is a clown, because Bernie got him to inadvertently state his (Bernie's) was not the question here and the whole impeachment concerned whether Trump incited violence or not was the question, so that is what they were voting on.
Yet Mitch McConnell admitted that Trump was to blame for inciting the riot, but he alluded to being unable to vote to convict because he (McConnell) thought this impeachment was unconstitutional. So once Trump's lawyer effectively dismissed any of that and stated the question and voting was regarding the incitement charge, then that cleared the way for McConnell and other Republicans to give up their bullshit arguments and convict.
After all, the accusation or charge here was 'Incitement of insurrection' so if Trump's lawyer was saying his opinion was irrelevant then so was whether this was constitutional or not. And then just for good measure, they had already decided via a vote that it was constitutional and is exactly why the trial went ahead, so why then did McConnell and other Republicans still vote to acquit when their previous excuse was no longer an issue?

My most recent response to @james maher shows that, as does being aware that impeachment involves removal AND disqualification and the American public were sensible enough to remove Trump (at least the ones he did not help die were) and while removal if applicable required two-thirds of votes, disqualification only requires a majority, which those voting to convict had by way of 57-43.
