Every time I hear you play ML, you always catch a moment where your tone, tempo and phrazing channels some famous person or group. Today was on the middle/bridge pup and you started playing a cool version of the Eagles, One Of These Nights. Outstanding!
I have the exact same Strat in Sherwood green as well and it’ll be my workhorse for ever. Recently I was at Andertons Music in England and tried all the Vintage models from the Fender Series and not a single one felt good to me. Mine feels like it’s „made for ME“ if I can say so. This guitar sings! Greetings from Germany!
I met Michael not too along. Not only is he an outstanding 6 stringer, but he is an outstanding human being. He told me his main axe is a pre CBS Jazzmaster. GODSPEED Michael.
I saw the color green and right away I thought "there is a strat for Michael Lemmo, he loves the color green and can play the hell out of a strat",.Great #guitaroftheday guys and Jen! thank you once again. Was great seeing Norm today too..makes me happy when he is back in the shop.
Well, happy Straturday to you! A ‘62 is hands down the best year for guitars (and many other things). And, those jazz tones on that beauty are a sound to behold. Great playing, Michael.
If you have one of these or can get one keep it! I think this is the hot rod version, as that’s the one with the 9.5” radius a huge C neck. They did do the 62 reissues in sherwood green but they have a more metallicy finish than the hot rod versions.
What a great guitar. And great playing today, I dig those bluesy/jazzy sounds from “Blue Comet”. Received my copy on a CD last week, wasn’t easy to come by here in Europe, but with a little patience ;-)
A friend w lots of dealer connections hooked me up w an actual '62 back in the double naughts. Someone had stripped the paint and replaced 2 of the pickups. I had it repainted by a guy retired from Gibson, ironically . I had him do a pale yellow nitro to evoke aged Olympic White. The P-ups were the actual '62 , a '65, and a Dimarzio which I had rewound to 7k < 8k for the bridge.(yeah , I know dc ohms etc, , but we are comparing oranges to oranges ). I ended up selling the '65 ,which sounded like the "Abby" '69 reissue in every quality, except not as good. I also sold the '62 , because he also hooked me up w a matched set of John Sprung wound '62 clones which nailed the tone 100%. I don't collect antiques for their own sake...The '62 , and the Clones have a darker , more opaque tone than most Strat p-ups due to the bevelled poles, wire (a raging debate), and scatter winding. Its a little hard to tell w the Lemmo signature buried in reverb hook up, but it sounds like Fender has nailed the '62 tone as well. The neck seems to have the same profile also from the quick glimpse during the uncasing and Michael's description.
Amazing playing as always, love u Lemmo ! I have a 2004 AVRI '62 Stratocaster Sunburst, bought new in '04, it's been my number 1 for 18 years, I always end up going back to this one, beautiful guitars !
Great Demo and playing! I have this exact year but in black. Fell in love with the neck and weight of guitar the moment I held her. Mine came with lollar blonde pickups. I ended up buying a used set of 57/62 pickups so I can just say I have all original spec material.
I wish fender would go back to this almost black version of sherwood green. It seems like the current iterations of sherwood green has got more of an ocean turquoise/aged lake placid blue tone to it now. It's still gorgeous but I want one of these deep green strats... one day... one day...
I have a 1962 Fender Vintage Reissue. Did not love the The Texas Special Pickups. Replaced them with Chubtone’s 1962 pickups and a grease bucket tone circuit. Also had to shim the neck and adjust truss rod to put some relief in the neck. Action is great now and sounds great! It’s a two color flamed sunburst which is unique. I may sand down the finish on the neck. Too shiny and sticky for my style. I miss not having the micro-tilt and the head stock truss rod opening on this guitar but that’s the way Leo designed it back then!
I was really fortunate to buy a used one of these a few years ago at an amazing price, mine is in sunburst. And what an amazing Strat it is, never letting go of this one!
The “Hot Rod” 62 reissues have fatter necks, 5 way switch, 9.5 radius and tone control for the bridge pickup (all things that the regular 62 reissue doesn’t have)
So this Sherwood Green reminds me of the Fender that I learned to play on back in 75. The tones on this take me right back. Thank you for bringing it out, really something special for me. BTW, is still around?
The tremolo on these float and stay in tune. I have a 2008 it stays in tune for months and it's played everyday. Sheerwood green ones were made with magic.
That Sherwood Green is such a cool color......reminds me of Philadelphia Eagles Midnight Green. I'd love to get me am AVRI at some point. Either in Sherwood Green or Dakota Red
Have 1993 62" AVRI in Fiesta Red and several other Strats, this one and my EJ Thin line are the bees knees. The original owner had it re-fretted and changed the radius to 9.5 . Wonderful guitar
Lemmo, you just gave me the urge to own a strat again! I also love green guitars, and feel like they are underrated. Ps I saw Tomo wearing a Lemmo shirt on IG today, where can I get one of those?!
Michael Lemmo- what technique were you doing at around 17:00? Absolutely stunning work. Almost made me want to trade in the custom shop cc-aged 65 Daphne Jazzmaster I have (you were my inspiration there) for a Sherwood green strat!
Wow, you're an amazing guitar player. I live in an area where there aren't any good guitar instructors but I want to learn to play guitar, can you offer any suggestions for online lessons or otherwise? Thank you...
Sherwood green is my favorite fender color, and my one gripe about my stratocaster is that it has a maple board. This guitar looks so nice, and Michael really makes it sing. I like mine though, I modded it so I can put the pickups in series instead of their standard parallel and it has some seymour duncan psychedelic strat pickups in it. Simply can't replace a Strat, nothing quite does the thing that they do. I wonder if Leo Fender knew how revolutionary his design was
Ah , another series guy. How did you wire it ? One easy way I do it sometime is to take the 5 way leads and put them to a DPDT switch. One way is normal. One way is thru the Bridge in series. Position 1 shorts out in series , obviously. I really like the position 4 series setting. The Neck and Middle in parallel thru the Bridge gives a best of both worlds tone. Still jangley but fuller, thicker w a big strong signal.
@@terryenglish7132 I have mine set up such that it's regular parallel tones until you pull a push pull pot and then it goes to series. I only have the 2 and 4 positions in series, so you still have neck middle bridge standalone when the pot is pulled
@@lucistired Cool. Do check out the 2 in parallel thru the other one in series combo if you haven't; its really a great sound. I like the single grounded better; it does sound different than the 2 grounded. The middle w the neck either series or parallel always sounds muddy to me thats why I skipped it in series. You can of course choose any pickup as the series thru combos not just the bridge. Cheers
@@terryenglish7132 Honestly I'm happy with the way mine is. It sounds great in all positions, and I mostly wanted a guitar that could do bridge humbucker things since I don't own any with a humbucker there. I'll keep it in mind though, maybe for my next strat
Sherwood Green is one of Fender’s most underrated colors.
Não faz sentido falar que é subestimada, cor é algo muito pessoal ou você gosta ou não gosta. Linda guitarra!
Agreed.
Oh yes especially with a mint green pickguard.

This guitar was stored for most of its life. Crazy to think 2007 wasn't all that long ago, but 16 years fly by fast...

This one is, clearly, a special guitar. Amazing tone and build. Beautiful rosewood and an outstanding sustain. This is a keeper.
It's been a while since I dropped in on this channel. Wow, Lemmo is on a whole different level. Kid's a friggin' musical genius!

When Lemmo breaks out the jazz sound, I turn it up!
This guitar has such a colourful attitude! Great demo, Lemmo🔥
I met Michael not too along. Not only is he an outstanding 6 stringer, but he is an outstanding human being.

Nope, sorry to contradict, he tells us at 1:55 that his favorite guitar is a Jazzmaster 62 vintage reissue, not pre CBS, unless he has another one...

That whole set was outstanding.
I only regret that I have but one like to give.
I always watch straturday on Sunday because I am about 9 hours ahead. I love this format maybe even as much as strats hah, greetings from Poland!
Such talent Michael you are truly gifted. The Reissue Strat was just amazing too, keep the videos coming and all the best with the upcoming dhow
I think this Saturday vibe is where Michael shows his talent the best. Just some tasty tunes on a low profile Saturday.
Burst shmurst!
Green guitars are a secret world.
And a green Strat? C'mon now.
