Good video! I think the Nintendo 64 had the "revolutionary" games for its generation (Super Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, Perfect Dark) but I would say that the GameCube had a more varied and pleasing library to me if we're talking about what games I'd like to play alone. The GameCube had more multiplatform titles compared to the Nintendo 64, more ports (Resident Evil 2 and The Legend of Zelda Master Collection), sequels to existing games that were on the Nintendo 64 (like the Mario Party games), and also, the GameCube actually had some JRPGs.
LOVE this kind of conversation (I’m serious too, no sarcasm)! There’s soooo many good games on the GameCube, it’s crazy. What are your thoughts about the two N64 Zelda games? Thanks again for watching btw!
I never really experienced n64 I grew up with the cube I’ve loved it because the GameCube controller was and still is the best controller for people with disabilities but the games I have played most of the cubes first party games while I’ve only dabbled in n64 via emulation
I do like the GameCube’s controller quite a bit, though admittedly I don’t have any disabilities and this can’t attest to its use through that juncture. How has the N64 fared in your opinion, now that you’re experiencing it through emulation?
Ooooh i grew up with the Nitendo 64 so that is a little bit more special to me. But i will not deny that i dind´t loved the Gamecube as well. I have so many fond memorys of them both 🥰🥰🥰
They’re good consoles for their own, unique reasons. I loved the stellar classics and Rare games on the N64, but I also loved the large increase in graphical fidelity and overall power that the GameCube had. Thanks again for watching!

That is one heck of a great list there, my friend. I spent too much time on Melee during this system that I missed out on a few of the classic games you mentioned. Many of these are on my backlog still, too. Thanks again for watching!
Nice video!I love both. The jump from n64 to gamcube left me speechless, and the beggining of the gen, with sequels like wave race blue storm and smash bros melee, i felt very promising...The GC had everything to become better than the N64, from the controller, to the CDs, much better framerate...But sadly, as a kid, i felt a bit dissapointed that they were taking all these well developed IPs in weird directions... The N64 console was not designed as well, but most exclusives launched for the system felt like a revolution. And then there's Rareware, of course. The idea of playing banjo and perfect dark, or even more "traditional" nintendo sequels with the graphical improvements of gamecube will remain a dream, just like in those days. I do love many of its fresh ideas like Pikmin
Thank you for the compliment and for watching! Totally agree with you, too. They took a number of these IPs into some really...interesting directions. Proof of that is Mario with a water gun (Mario Sunshine) and cartoon Link (Wind Waker). Most of these ideas were quite innovative, which is something a lot of IPs nowadays could really learn a thing or two from!
Konami was better on N64, both Goemon games are great, Castlevania was good too, they also had Hybrid Heaven and the best sports title of the era in International Super Star Soccer.
Great topic! It's really hard to choose between them. I loved Rogue Squadron on N64 but didn't play much of the GameCube sequel. I totally agree about No Mercy. I kept my copy and played it a bit with a couple friends almost 20 years later.
Thanks again for watching! I kind of wish I would've given Rogue Squadron a chance when it originally came out. It actually was pretty fun when I was capturing my footage here. And regarding No Mercy, supposedly the new AEW Fight Forever game coming out soon will be an homage to the former's style of play.
@@infernofoxgaming10 I'll likely get the AEW game. It still looks a bit buggy but in the recent footage the people playing it seem to be enjoying it. I just hope there's enough content to keep it interesting.
@@millus86 Ooh you'll definitely have to tell me how you like the AEW game! I'll probably be trying WrestleQuest; that's an RPG, but in the wrestling world, even featuring Randy Savage and Sergeant Slaughter as summons.
Whoa whoa.. Double Dash!! the worst Mario Kart?? No no.. It's doubly awesome: Two racers for twice the fun as Double Mint Gum!! The character specific power-ups added a strategic element to the duos too!!
Oh I know, but I swear I tried to like this one when it came out. But it soured me so bad on Mario Kart games that I was one of only 10 people who didn’t play the Wii Mario Kart game when that came out. The bad thing with the character power ups is that some were way OP compared to others.
DoubleDash is by far the one of the best Mario Kart Games and is actually takes the most skill in any Mario game with having two people instead of one and doesn’t have rubberband AI
Ooh I’ll definitely have to look into that one, as I’ve never heard of it! I will now, as an N64 RPG is a rare genre for the system. Thank you for that!
Totally fair, my friend. It’s interesting to see a number of companies, including Nintendo, pull from the GameCube Era for remakes and remasters. Says something about the quality of the games, but man I’d love to see some true remasters of a number of N64 titles!
While its not the best version of Majora's Mask, the game is still playable on the Gamecube. When I played it on the Collector's Edition, I didn't have any issues, but I only got about 10 hours into it. Regardless, thanks again for watching!

Nowadays with herd mentality, a lot of people like to trash the N64. You know, one YTuber starts the trend then everyone is mindlessly repeating it. The N64 was by FAR the most revolutionary, the one that broke new ground, and had games that people talk to this day (Mario 64, Goldeneye, OOT, Mario Kart, Star Fox 64, Wave Race, Perfect Dark, etc etc). Game Cube (I had one BTW) as good as it is, is really forgettable. It was better in technical terms, but had fewer games that stood the test of time, games that people still talk to this day (ex: OOT vs Twilight Princess). All in all, N64 really is, side by side with the SNES and NES, Nintendo's greatest console of all time. You can podium those 3 in any order. Game Cube really isn't in the same conversation.
I definitely agree regarding the impact that the N64 had with games like Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time. But this generation's games have not aged as well. I've noticed a lot of the Gamecube generation games look and play smoother than those on the N64. But the N64 had a TON of unique games to them. Were they all good? No, but at least companies tried a lot of new things. Instead, starting in the Aughts, the amount of shovelware appearing dramatically increased, and the Gamecube was a bit of a victim of that. Overall, there were a lot of high-highs and low-lows with the N64, but the Gamecube was an overall more averaged/mediocre experience. Though I do feel it was punctuated itself with a few highs with titles like Twilight Princess, Smash Melee, F-Zero GX, and Soul Calibur II. Thanks again for watching, I appreciate it!

@@infernofoxgaming10 Hi! I agree mostly with what you said, don't take me wrong, GC was phenomenal. I loved to bits Mario Sunshine, Wind Waker and Metroid Prime, all of which I've spent more hours of my life than I'd like to admit :) Also, RE 4 and RE 1 remake were genuine masterpieces. RE 1 remake itself, it's hard to describe nowadays what it felt like to see those ultra polished graphics in the early 2000s. An experience to behold for sure. I just wanted to add a comment regarding the GC's superior graphics (and on this point I'll admit I disagree with you, which is fine). Any retro gaming system shouldn't be measured by its graphics. Ok, just a tiny bit. Because we don't really dive back into retrogaming consoles for its graphics. If we did, then even a PS3 would be more desirable than PS1, N64 or GC, and we all know the PS3 (in the grand scheme of retrogaming) is totally forgettable. We would certainly be more fond of the SNES than the Genesis, due to color palette and scaling effects, etc. But that's not how we perceive retrogaming. Genesis and SNES are about equal in strengths, the PS1, N64 are clearly more memorable than the PS3, and so on and on. Next gen graphics are 1 point to analyse, but not really a deciding factor in retrogaming. Hope my comment makes sense :) Anyways, I loved the video and such comparisons are always fun!
Good point, my friend! When factoring in solely via 1st versus 3rd party (assuming we count Rare as a 2nd party developer for the N64 as a 1st party for sake of this argument), N64 gets the W here. But man, I totally forgot how fantastic 3rd party games were for the Gamecube until I did this. Thanks again for watching!

You're 100% right there, my friend! You can't make an omelet without cracking some eggs, and that's what the N64/PS1 generation did, especially in 3D.
GameCube clearly. The only thing the N64 had over the GameCube was Super Mario 64. That’s it.
