Hopefully this is better than the original and not just the original in HD. We were told we'd have modern mechanics in but so far all I see are old mechanics. Getting rid of the new throw was a complete and utter mistake. Still looking forward to the game but I'd appreciate a lot more than what we've seen.
I mean if there were new mechanics, they'd advertise them in this trailer, week or so before release in Japan. So no, Refine is nothing but just Disgaea 1 with mostly rehashed sprites. And zero gameplay improvement.
Kind of a lazy remake. Only the Faerie and Space Soldier is making a return. Everyone else got replaced. This was could have been a perfect opportunity to bring the original monster classes.

Remake remake remastered GOTY editions Gold Platinum Refined Unleashed Unlimited Overclocked, etc... In the end NIS just tried to profit off of existing remakes because they don't have the budget for another large quality game. Also, as long as people keep buying them (in Japan), they will keep making them... Skyrim is a really good example of this... They made it for consoles, then PC, then handheld, and now for Amazon Alexa etc.
the "scout" was remade too... but, I agree... would be more interesting to see the old designs in HD, instead to just replace the old classes for their new versions (I hate the new male healer ^^' )... if they don't add new features, will looks like a big mod, XD

How could they fuck this up? All you had to do was recreate Disgaea 1 in the D5 engine with the QOL improvments, Evilties, clubs, and additional characters from the later games. Oh fuck it this should have just been a DLC campaign for D5.

Remember the original thief class? It's probably best that it got replaced. Looked too similar to Link imo
