I've had this hitch since 2018 in my Chev 2500HD Duramax. Hitch has held up very well and I wouldn't trade it for any other hitch. I too use a 2 ton HF engine hoist to remove and re install. Added an extension to the boom to reach the hitch. I take the top 5th wheel plate off and use a steal bar between the two pivot points for the top to hook a chain onto along with a stabilizing chain to keep it level. I can do this with the tail gate down. I then just put the hitch on a rolling 4 wheel cart to move it to where I need to store it. This 5th wheel that I have is my first and I'm glad the dealers parts dept. had this in stock. I installed the hitch and rail kit myself. Great hitch and would recommend it to all 5th wheel owners with a short bed truck.
I have the 15K. Purchased it 4 yrs ago. Never had a problem. I tow a 32' Chaparral 5th wheel with a Ram 2500 HD 6'6" box. Hitch is always smooth as silk with a little WD40 and some Minot TLC every now and then.
Shawn, you did a great job explaining how the hitch works and the presentation, the video taping and sound was excellent! Very professional! I truly appreciate videos like your's! Thank you so much, Richard
Richard Harrigan thank you for the kind words! I'm glad it was able to help you out! This was one of my first review videos so hopefully my quality will continue to improve! Stay tuned as SuperGlide sent me a set of Super Rails that I will be installing soon and doing another review on them!
Excellent video. I just purchased a new fifth wheel and had the Superglide hitch installed in my 2011 Ford F350 crew cab short bed. I can't wait to get it out in the spring! Thanks for posting.
Awesome Video! We have a PullRite Superglide 24K hitch and Shawn is correct about having to make sure you come in straight to hook up. Hitch has to be aligned for it to connect.
Great video. Makes me feel comfortable about purchasing a SB bed truck and there being a quality product on the market to solve the SB problems when towing a 5th wheel. Very well done. Happy Camping.
To remove the very heavy Superglide I bought a 2k engine hoist from Harbor Freight and the Demco 6100. I had to make a modification to the hoist. I extended the arm 11 inches by inserting a 4 foot 2x2 steel square pipe into the sliding original piece. Using the original pipe as my template I made my holes and cut for the chain. I now can lift the hitch up with the tail gate closed and roll the hitch backwards the tailgate. I then open the tailgate and drive forward. The front of the hitch is heavy and will tilt down so I use a tie down strap under the two slider rails and over the arm and ratchet snug to keep level. This will be necessary when reinstalling.
That's a good one, so easy to use, we install one just like it but you have to put it up front locked and when you get to where your going then you move it to the back and lock it just for the tight turns.grate video, thanks.
Awesome video! Thanks for the explanation of slider hitches as well as a solid review of this particular product. My wife and I are fifth wheel rookies and we’re trying to figure out the best for our short bed truck.
Shawn, if you haven't sent this video to Pullrite, you absolutely should. Been using my Pullrite since something like 2008, and this is the first time I've really seen whats going on. By the by IMO, Pullrite is the hitch for short bed P/U's. And their customer service is pretty hard to beat as well.
Dude, fantastic video. I have been looking for a solution as I just ordered a 2017 RAM 3500 mega cab short box SWR Limited with the Ram Boxes. Everyone, including Ram and the dealer says no way for 5th wheel towing with the Ram Boxes. However, I have met guys in Phoenix, AZ during our annual baseball spring training trips who have Ram Box equipped trucks, both 2500 & 3500 with zero issues while towing big ass 5th wheel Montana size 5th wheels. My wife wants a new 2017 Montana 3660RL 5th wheel, so I need a bigger tow vehicle than my old 2002 Tundra with which I have been dragging around our current 29 foot travel trailer, with no problems. Now I need to find the best 5th wheel hitch for pulling a 39 foot Montana 5th wheel trailer, with clearance to not impact the cab of my truck. Reese makes a nice set up but moves the pivot point back 22 inches at all times. I like the Pull Rite in your video as the full weight is over the rear ax;le of the truck aside from while turning. This looks to be the best solution for me. Any thoughts or advice from you? Thanks - Phil Salsbery - Huntington Beach, CA.
Hey, I own the same hitch... Love the automatic slide feature. Have some trouble releasing the jaws from the kingpin at times. Seems I have to be straight in even when unhooking. I called the Pull Rite hitch rep and he suggested once the 5er was in position, to chock the wheels and back into the RV maybe 1” to take the pressure off the hitch. We will see if that helps. One trip, I had to undo the pins holding the hitch head and lift the RV + hitch head off the 5th wheel hitch base!
I too had a similar issue of if there’s too much tension on the jaws it won’t release when you try to pull the handle. The fix was exactly what Pullrite suggested of release the tension off the hitch by backing up just a hair. Worked perfect. Safe travels!
You don't have to be perfectly aligned. I have this hitch and have been severely unleveled backed in on a hill and angled quite a few times and have gotten attached and detached from it. They say you have to have the hitch straight but whenever I've needed I have rotated the hitch or angled it to get it to align and it's worked every single time.
Great video. I will be hooking up my new Ford F-250 (soon as they make it!) to exact same Pullrite 16K auto slider hitch. I’m bit concerned about fifth wheel/truck bed clearance. There is no adjustment right? How much clearance do you have on your truck. Do they make truck beds & pin heights a standard height? So what happens if you need to unhitch or hitch at an angle. Is it still possible. Sorry for aLl the questions, never towed a fifth wheel, always towed travel trailers. Thanks again for the informative video.
great vid Shawn... couple of comments though..... 1 @ 1"33- . it is not a 16thousand "ton" hitch... it is a 16 thousand "pound" hitch. 2 @ 1:30 .you mentioned that ithere are a lot of "rotating hitches out there"... I think you meant to say "sliding hitches out there"... other than those..... you did a great job of reviewing this hitch. It helped me tremendously, especially the part of the vid showing it actually working. Thanks again and keep the vids coming.
Great video - Just purchased 40' fiver and PullRite 2700. Only issue so far is keeping the capture plate tight to the pin box - it fell off the very first time I unhitched and had to re-tighten. Hope this does not become a "permanent" issue.
Just bought a new 5th wheel and a Pullrite Superglide and appreciated your video. I'm having a lot of difficulty pulling the yellow tipped lever to unlock the hitch. After about 10 tries, I finally managed to pull it out. The demonstrator at the RV dealer made it look so easy. Is there a trick to it?
+Brian M hey Brian glad you liked the video, the trick to it is making sure there is little forward or backward pressure on the jaws of the hitch before you pull the yellow release handle. What I mean by that (I take no liability in this) but as an example is if you back your trailer in, put the landing gear down and chock the wheels to take pressure off of the 5th wheel plate then I literally will put the truck in drive and just barely let it roll forward let let pressure off of the jaws of the hitch then put it back in park and pull the yellow release. Or if your in a pull through spot I do the opposite, after I put the landing get down I will to take weight off the plate I will back up to take pressure off of the jaws. It doesn't happen to me to often and I've really only experienced that when I'm parking on a slight incline or decline. Hope that helps and happy camping.
I installed new pull rite.. bought a new long bed with a curt.. I didn't know to remove capture plate. Ruined new curt due to capture plate.. camping world sucks!
I have the exact same hitch. Love this hitch with one exception. The "Roller" which guides the hitch up and down the Cam Slots can un-thread and drop out. I have had this happen several times. Most recently yesterday. I called Pull Rite and they are sending me a replacement at no charge (awesome customer service). The threads on the original one were so badly damaged no re-threading was possible. My advice if you have a 2700 or 2900 (same roller) take the nut off and put some loctite on it.
I may be wrong about this, and probably am. But if the hitch slides back and forth while pulling the trailer/rv, wouldn’t it slam forward really hard if you had to stop really quick? Also what keeps it forward while you’re pulling with it. The reason I ask this is because you were able to pull it back and forth and side to side easily yourself.
Great question but it the hitch will only rotate forward and backward during a turn. It will not slide when moving straight forward or straight back. The capture plate that is bolted to the pin box is what makes everything work like it does.
I have this hitch but it came with a block. The guy Saif you'll know what to do with it once you get everything hooked up. Can't figure out where it and I didn't see it in your video
I owned mine for 6 years; initially very smooth. Lately when I’m connected there is a loud thud or chunking noise every time at stop & start. Usually when this occurs a quick adjustment to the cam locking assembly fixes this. However no such luck. I called the factory & they sent a new cam locking assembly. Installed & still the same problem. Not really sure what is going on. But yes for the first couple of years w a bit of 10-40 & occasionally tightening everything the hitch was great. Not sure if this unit will hold up in the long run though.
Yes I called & they gave a few other suggestions. Have not hooked up since I made the adjustment, but hoping this is a fix. Yes I agree their customer service is exceptional . A few others parts failed during the years & they sent the replacements free. They are a great company, but I don’t know if these sliders were designed to last 10 years w the original parts.
Sounds like if the new cam locking assembly doesn't fix the problem I would then check the kingpin itself. I would take a micrometer and check what the thickness is now as opposed to new. Wear can happen over time and you will get some play. Good luck.
Hi Shawn, THANK YOU for the video on the super slider hitch.I noticed on the video how clean your hitch! What do use for lubrication and where, I have been using a heavy weight gear lube, which doesn not seem to do the job. I've been considering a dry lube , graphite or teflon. Thank You again, keep up the good work.
+Lance Anderson I use a light coating of wd40 that I wipe the rails down with a rag soaked in it. That way I don’t have excess oil dripping and running everywhere! It seems to work great down my it that way
Nice. Had mine since Nov 20.. just co.epleted first full week RV and it bent! Had to disconnect by pulling the two crevice pins out. Don't have a pic right now
Really need to attach break away cable to the truck, not the hitch.if the hitch fails it wont activate brakes.maybe a carabeaner hook to the mount plate attached to the truck bed.i have had my superglide for about 9 years,no problems and still smooth and works as it did new.i tow a 37'2" quad slide home at 16k
Can't back at an angle? That's not a small problem, that's a deal breaker. We full time RV and "back straight in" are almost nonexistent. Thanks for the heads up.
I would suggest looking at the Pullrite Superlite for your application then. It’s not a slider but I have the same turning radius as my super glide using the superlite and you can hitch up at any angle, plus it only weighs 50lbs.
I've got a Silverado 1500 double cab with a 6.5' bed. I have a toolbox in the bed now... I am installing it tomorrow, do you think I'll be able to keep the tool box in the truck while towing the camper? I'm excited to put this in... this is our first camper; 25' older 5th wheel.
Absolutely! Should have no problem keeping the tool box. A friend of mine runs that exact same setup in the bed of his truck without issues. Only thing to watch for is clearance between the top of the tool box and bottom of the 5th wheel cap when taking turns through dips in the road etc.
I am purchasing a 5th wheel. The owner gave me the above mentioned hitch that fits in my rails with no problem. However everywhere I read about this setup it mentions it is for a short bed truck. My truck is a long bed. I'll can look into getting something else but was wondering if there would be any problems using it as it is til I get a replacement.
This Hitch is not going to be any worse because you have a long bed. It was designed to give short beds more room when making tight turns but a long bed can utilize it just the same even though it's not really needed. I'd save yourself the Money on buying a new Hitch and get a good set of airbags if you don't have any yet!
If you own a Dodge it will not clear if you have a slide tonnuea cover with the box steel frame mounts. you will have to install the lower bed mount. 1-1/4" from the bed to the top of the mount. like the one in the video. if you order it and it comes with the 3" box steel rails. it won't close. FYI.
Thanks for the video. is there any clunking or noise on everyday driving with no trailer attached. is is under bed rail. I want to install a bed cover to keep my tools protected while I am not traveling
+Mike Rustay there can be a little clunking while driving when breaking hard or accelerating quickly it can cause the Hitch to move forward or backward. My remedy was to cut 2x4's and place them in the slots that the Hitch rides on to keep it from sliding. On my truck (02 Silverado) the Hitch does sit below the bed rails so a cover would be no issue, if you have a similar truck I'm sure you'd be fine.
I purchased the 2900 and am currently installing it. Does it pivot when backing? another way of asking is when backing will it do the same as when moving forward?
the one thing that i am confused with on this hitch is how does it slide forward when moving forward and back when moving back? It is not motorized and I would think it would work the opposite way where when you drive forward it would slide back (which would be bad lol). what am i missing here
@@kingjames1308 the capture plate has a square metal form on it that makes the hitch shift angles, once you hit 15+ degrees the entire thing moves. Only gear teeth are for the realease.
@@kingjames1308 he shows that "block" he calls it in the video. and earlier in the video when he manually turns the hitch, that's what it does, it's locked in, doesn't really spin on the plate like in normal situations. it spins on the rails.
how long is the box i put mine like a foot back from the centre from the wheel well lotta room ya dont need 1500 dollar hitch nd put air bags my box is 5.5 feet its all good no problems
I have a 5 and 1/2 ' bed, will this hitch work? Should I be concerned about the width of the unit I am towing. How difficult is it to remove this unit from the bed of the truck and when it is removed what remains in the bed? Excellent video
Ron, sorry for the delayed response. To answer your questions: yes this will work for your bed, I don’t know how wide your 5th wheel is so I can’t answer that. This is a two person job to remove it unless you have access to an engine hoist which is what I use to remove mine. The rails are all that remain in the bed unless you purchase the pullrite super rail kit that you can remove everything and have a completely empty bed. Hope this answers your questions!
does the hitch operate the same when backing up like it does when going forward so you can make 90 degree corners when backing .How easy is to remove the hitch when not in use. Is it bolted down down or pined down to the rails,
Yes it sure will! It is a heavy hitch not hard to move but definitely takes a couple guys or a cherry picker, it is pinned down to the rails or you can buy a pullrite super rail kit
Thanks for the clip. Have a 2017 L5P Duramax 2500HD 4x4 High Country CCSB and am contemplating buying a Carbon 357 Toyhauler. Was worried a bit about the short box and the 2500 pulling it. Also I have a slight lift on my truck (3") but ordered it from the factory with 5th wheel prep so I think I should be good to go. What size Carbon is that? How does it ride hauling? Thanks for your help. Much appreciated!
+Ben Giovanelli ooo I would love to have an L5P! My 2016 Carbon is a 327 I think it has been replaced by the 347 in the 2017 line. It tows great with my SRW 2500hd. I did add airlift airbags in the rear which have been awesome for leveling the truck back out. I'm tuned on EFI Live which also helps out with towing. Hope this helps you make your decision, lastly I love my Carbon, I'm currently living in it full time with my wife and 2 year old daughter while our new house is being built!
I added Airlifts on the rear about a month ago. Have a 10 year old bumper pull that we've schlepped all over hell's half acre. Poor girl is wore out, and my kids are now into RZRs. So time for a toy hauler. Can I fit 2 2 seat RZRs in the back of an 11' garage? Thinking a tight squeeze if at all. Glad to hear you've had success with the short box and a 35' 5th wheel. I was a little concerned but now, feel much better. Love the L5P. It's a Pepperdust Metallic High Country. Did a BDS coilover and a 3" lift (rear not really at all just trying to get it level). Pulls the 11,000lb TT like it's not even back there. Headed east in a few weeks and wanted to get a new rig for the trip. Now I'm fired up, lol. Thanks!
So I just got one so how does it stay in the middle or in front of slider so what I mean is when you go in drive and go straight forward will it slide towards the back how does it stay does this make sense I’m confused
Great question, but it’s completely in the design of the hitch how it rotates back and forth. The only way it can rotate backward is when the head of the hitch turns one direction or the other. If the head is straight with the truck it will stay at its forward position. Hard to make sense of, but I’d rotate it with the 5th wheel disconnected so you can see how it operates.
Are you still able to have a trunk bed cover that closes with the hitch in there when it’s not in use or would you have to remove the whole thing to use a trunk cover?
CollaGoUnLTD Thank you so much for your prompt response! I just ordered mine! Can’t wait & so relieved I’ll still be able to use the cover with it! Was worried it’d be too tall! 😁
Not much mention of the capture plate. This hitch will not work unless you have one. You can not tow anyone else's 5th wheel without the appropriate capture plate. This hitch is not a one size fits all. Mine is dedicated to my TT and it's the only thing I tow. Fantastic hitch though.
100% correct! There are lots of different pin boxes. They make several different capture plates. Pick the plate that works for your pin box or you can buy a universal plate that you screw into the base of your pin box.
I purchased this product after watching your video. Great job if made me feel more confortable with it. How sharp can you turn i am about 70 degrees and have about an inch to spare on the side of my bed. Little to scared to push it...
+Tim Garrison Great! Glad it helped you to make a wise purchase! I have not tested the limits of turning with my 5th Wheel but I know I can turn pretty sharp probably around the same as you.
+Monica Langley no grease is needed, just light coating of Wd-40 on the rails themselves. This does awesome on hairpins and uneven terrain. We do a lot of dispersed camping in Utah on some pretty rough roads and it has performed great!
+dan theman I haven't measured that and it won't be until another month or so before I hook up to the 5er again. I will say that there are several styles of pin boxes that could potentially effect that measurement. So what mine measures might be completely different from what yours measures.
As with any Fifth wheel you must put the tailgate down when connecting or disconnecting your trailer. Once connected, you may put the tailgate up. Then you must lower the tailgate to disconnect. Also. in-spite of the video's claim. you CAN attach at an angle but you Must have a mechanical aptitude to do so. I have manged as much as forty five degrees, but it is not easy. More than that is even more difficult but I can tell you that I would not want to try unless there was absolutely no other way.
why is there not a lock that locks the handle in place so the trailer can't disconnect while driving? Is there some safety mechanism that I can't see? My old fifth wheel had a lock that would go around the handle of the hitch so it could not open.
Scott there is a built in locking spring mechanism on the handle that prevents it from disengaging once the jaws are locked shut. You have to forcefully pull on the handle to unlock it.
Hi shawn, thanks for the informative video, I have the same model just an older version. The problem I seem to have is when coming to a stop and taking off from a stop the hitch seems to jerk a little bit. Seems like it should only move on turns. Your thoughts?
Great video, helped a lot. Especially the fact about having to line up straight with catch plate. I recently purchased a 5th wheel and trying to figure out which hitch. I have a goose neck in my truck so I'm trying to find out an adapter to go from my goose neck to 5th wheel? Looking at a curtis plate that goes directly into the reversable B+W ball hitch? Thanks
I just bought one of these and my capture plate is not bolted on, but is held by a pressure bolt and a nylon spacer between the bolt and the front of the King pin. Should I worry that this pressure bolt will need constant tightening?
I never had an issue with my capture plate loosening up. You could always put a dab of locktite on the threads of the bolt and tighten it down really good.
Newbie question - haven't pulled a 5th wheel yet. Since there's so much rotation - do you feel the trailer move to the side when a tractor trailer passes on the Interstate?
A big benefit of a 5th wheel is not having to get wind blown when a semi passes unlike smaller bumper pulls. The hitch has no effect on sides to side sway.
Enjoyed the excellent video and outstanding music! I had heard that with this hitch a person cannot use a padlock to lock the handle in place to prevent someone from tampering with it and unlocking. Is there a hole to place a padlock?
This is a good hitch. However, you must be almost straight to hook and unhook. I was in a campsite that was very small and got off the pavement and got stuck in an inch of mud. I was at a 30 degree angle. I wasn't able to unhook and move the truck to the pavement and then rehook due to the angle. I have this hitch for sale.
In a pinch all you gotta do it pull the 2 pins holding the head to the slider part and it will lift off with the fifth wheel when you raise it..just a little pain to line back up but does work in a pinch.
Dont have to use safety chains?? Just put super glide in truck. First tow will be this weekend but noticed no where for safety chains. Have always had a gooseneck adapter on camper and just decided to try the super glide out. By the looks of your video you dont use them.. great video by the way!!
Hi Shawn A Great Video thanks....Ive a dilema,,,I own a pullright as well Mine is a 25k..I pull a 41 foot Big country,,,For 1.5 years everything pulled and acted perfectly until 2 months after an excellent 2000 mile trip,,I re hooked and noticed a huge sway in my camper. Everytime I would make a lane change or slight turn I would have to slow down to 50 mph in order to get rid of the sway or wobble... I have checked all tires on both camper and truck and tire pressures are good,,my load balance is even..I had a camping world shop in Harrisburg pa look at this they hooked it to a similar dodge 2500 with a pull right hitch and said it pulled fine...they have no idea whats wrong..I liked your video though it shows me that I need very little grease on the apron plate...do you have any ideas at all??? thank you Jeff
+Jeff Noel thanks for the reply! As far as the issue you're having, it's hard to say but it kind of sounds like maybe the lube disks that sit between the head of the Hitch and make contact with the rails might be wearing down? Which could cause extra play. Also have you pulled the Hitch out and re tightened all the bolts that hold it all together? Considering that the Hitch is all mechanical there can only be so many things that it could be. If the Hitch checks out I'd start looking at the possibility of leaf springs starting to fatigue/wear out or rear shocks and other suspension components on the actual tow vehicle. Do you run airbags on the rear of your truck?
I have to pull my 5th wheel through some unlevel terrain to get it on and off my farm, and just got this hitch and 5th wheel. I'm nervous on what would/could happen and how much angle I safely have as I'm towing "off road"
I bought a used 18k and installed in my truck but I don't have the capture plate? I have moved our 5th wheel around the property with no issue but we are getting ready to hit the road I probably need that plate huh?
+johngfortner within about 10° left or right of straight is ideal and about the max angle before you'll experience bad binding. I try to keep as straight as possible.

Thanks for that! It's amazing how few vids there are on this hitch. Best one yet!

Thanks Shawn. An excellent video for us who are going to be pulling our 5th wheels for the first time. Love the SuperGlide feature.
Really shows how the hitch automatically rotated during travel and backing. Goo job.
Thank you!! This is on of the best reviews I found, the video of the hitch in action is what I really needed to see!! Thanks!!!
Excellent video. I just purchased a new fifth wheel and had the Superglide hitch installed in my 2011 Ford F350 crew cab short bed. I can't wait to get it out in the spring! Thanks for posting.
Gary, you will love this hitch, I'm itching to get back out on the road as soon as it starts warming back up as well!
Awesome Video! We have a PullRite Superglide 24K hitch and Shawn is correct about having to make sure you come in straight to hook up. Hitch has to be aligned for it to connect.
Nice job. Your right, there aren't many videos on this hitch. Will be purchasing one soon. Thanks for sharing.
Great job on the video, I appreciate the driving demo to show how it seamlessly works while your driving.
Thanks again
That's a good one, so easy to use, we install one just like it but you have to put it up front locked and when you get to where your going then you move it to the back and lock it just for the tight turns.grate video, thanks.
Just bought a F250 6.7 deisel and looking to add a 5th wheel Hitch. Thanks so much for sharing this video. I had no idea this type hitch existed..
Thanks for the feedback!
Thank you, kinda hard to find a video that explains what a capture plate is to. Get my fifth wheel in a week or so. Big jump from a tent
Best Video of the hitch in motion. Thanks
Awesome video! Thanks for the explanation of slider hitches as well as a solid review of this particular product. My wife and I are fifth wheel rookies and we’re trying to figure out the best for our short bed truck.
So what does the hitch do when you have to make a sharp turn in reverse?
Great video, you helped me make up my mind on what hitch to purchase. Thank you for the vid.
Allen, Glad you found this video helpful!
Best description out there thanks for posting.
+Nicholas Wells I have not but maybe I will send it to them!
Hey Shawn. Great unbiased product review! I would like to speak with you if possible. Please e-mail me at nickm@pullrite.com.
Just got ours installed. Going to pick up our new fifth wheel tomorrow. We have a Mega Cab Ram 3500. We will let you know how it goes.
I've been thinking about the same setup. Let us know, please
Works great Richard. No issues as all. We love the setup.
how did it go?
Dude, fantastic video. I have been looking for a solution as I just ordered a 2017 RAM 3500 mega cab short box SWR Limited
with the Ram Boxes. My wife wants a new 2017 Montana 3660RL 5th wheel, so I need a bigger tow vehicle than my old 2002 Tundra with which I have been dragging around our current 29 foot
travel trailer, with no problems.
The owners manual says you have to be within 16 degrees of straight.
That's what I do, works every time, take the load off the jaws.
That makes sense. I would love to see a video on that.
That is exactly correct, I rarely have the room to back straight in.
Good video...thanks for taking the time... not as complicated as I thought it would be.
Great Video, explained everything I needed to know. Thanks for making it....
Great Presentation, you convinced me Thank You
+Bob Piaro glad I could help out Bob! Happy Travels!
great vid Shawn... couple of comments though..... 1 @ 1"33- . it is not a 16thousand "ton" hitch... it is a 16 thousand "pound" hitch.
Thank you, always appreciate constructive criticism!
Ralph Logan it is actually a rotating hitch, that’s why it uses a capture plate, because the head actually rotates..
Best hitch on the market.......
Love mine.
Great Video, I would like to see you make tighter turns to show the full function with the full slide mechanism. Thanks.
Ben Reed I will plan to make a follow up video to this showing tighter turns as soon as I get my camper out of winter storage! Thanks for the input!
Would like to have seen how hitch handled a 90 degree back/forward turn.
They handle 90deg fine
Nobody has shown that domo. Big deal that you turn in drive. I want to see that tight reverse turn. That is the true test.
Good information. Answered some questions I had between the comments and video. Thanks.
You did an Excellent job on your video!
Jim Culberson thanks for the positive feedback!
Good video, we have a super glide and have had no issues in the last 6 years.
I would by another one.
Great video - Just purchased 40' fiver and PullRite 2700. Only issue so far is keeping the capture plate tight to the pin box - it fell off the very first time I unhitched and had to re-tighten. Hope this does not become a "permanent" issue.
+Steve Mann I used Locktite blue on all the little set screws and a very little bit on the main big bolt that screws against the pin.
Good call - thanks for the tip!
Thanks allot bro, great video. Especially the demonstration on how it moves when your driving.
Excellent video on the product review.. Good job showing how it maneuvers as well. Thanks for the info and thumbs up!
+RV Adventurer thanks for the feedback! And you're welcome! Glad you found it informative!
Great video, very educational, thank you for sharing your experience.
Hope that helps and happy camping.
this is a great and very informative video! thank you!
I installed new pull rite.. bought a new long bed with a curt.. I didn't know to remove capture plate. Ruined new curt due to capture plate.. camping world sucks!
Curts are GREAT and the guys on the phone are really cool and professional, but Camping World is an absolute failing business.
Kenneth, thanks for the input! I will be looking into this issue on mine!
Good video. Glad it wasn't snowing.
Just what I have wanted to know. Thanks.
Do you have problem with chucking
I have the same hitch and at stop and go have very small amount of chunking
I owned mine for 6 years; initially very smooth. Lately when I’m connected there is a loud thud or chunking noise every time at stop & start. Usually when this occurs a quick adjustment to the cam locking assembly fixes this. However no such luck. I called the factory & they sent a new cam locking assembly. Installed & still the same problem. Not really sure what is going on. But yes for the first couple of years w a bit of 10-40 & occasionally tightening everything the hitch was great. Not sure if this unit will hold up
in the long run though.
Did you contact pullrite? I know their customer service is top notch!
Don't have a pic right now
what bent? why? what's the situation now?
It works fine, just compensate for the trailer moving back and forth a bit, no big deal.
FYI.
+Mike Rustay thank you for the input!
HEY GUYS STAY TUNED FOR A NEW REVIEW COMING SHORTLY ON THE NEW PULLRITE SUPER LITE 5TH WHEEL HITCH!!
Thanks Shawn
I purchased the 2900 and am currently installing it. Does it pivot when backing? another way of asking is when backing will it do the same as when moving forward?
the one thing that i am confused with on this hitch is how does it slide forward when moving forward and back when moving back? It is not motorized and I would think it would work the opposite way where when you drive forward it would slide back (which would be bad lol). what am i missing here
The capture plate is what makes the whole system work!
CollaGoUnLTD guess im just trying to understand how though. Is there teeth in there or sometiing
@@kingjames1308 the capture plate has a square metal form on it that makes the hitch shift angles, once you hit 15+ degrees the entire thing moves. Only gear teeth are for the realease.
Anthony Rettig ok that makes sense. Thanks for the explonation
@@kingjames1308 he shows that "block" he calls it in the video. and earlier in the video when he manually turns the hitch, that's what it does, it's locked in, doesn't really spin on the plate like in normal situations. it spins on the rails.
Thanks for this video. Great info.
3:45 "..The only dislike I like about this whole hitch system.."
takeadayofff wow sorry, I meant to say "the only thing I disliked about the hitch system"
how long is the box i put mine like a foot back from the centre from the wheel well lotta room ya dont need 1500 dollar hitch nd put air bags my box is 5.5 feet its all good no problems
I have a I have a Pull Rite Super Glide 18000 lbs Short bed Hitch model 4400 can that be connected to standard rails.
More than likely yes, but check the bottom of it and as long as it has the tabs that would fit in the ISR systems then you’ll be good to go.
Do you have to unbolt it or is there pins you can pull? Also when removed is just the bed rails left in the truck?
Gary McClister there are four pins to pull to release it from the rails. When removed, yes it is only the rails left.
i agree, great video
does the hitch operate the same when backing up like it does when going forward so you can make 90 degree corners when backing .How easy is to remove the hitch when not in use. Is it bolted down down or pined down to the rails,
Yes it sure will! It is a heavy hitch not hard to move but definitely takes a couple guys or a cherry picker, it is pinned down to the rails or you can buy a pullrite super rail kit
Amazing mechanical device
Thanks!
Awesome job.
I unhitched this hitch today at about a 25-30 degree angle. Is that bad? Or, is this only a problem while hitching?
MrJeremypkpl It mainly has to do with hooking up.
Are you still able to have a trunk bed cover that closes with the hitch in there when it’s not in use or would you have to remove the whole thing to use a trunk cover?
Vitelle yes you sure can!
CollaGoUnLTD Thank you so much for your prompt response! I just ordered mine! Can’t wait & so relieved I’ll still be able to use the cover with it! Was worried it’d be too tall! 😁
Great video and cool music. Thank you
Not much mention of the capture plate.
How long is your bed on your tundra that you're using this on?
How does this work for backing up?
I purchased this product after watching your video. Great job if made me feel more confortable with it. How sharp can you turn i am about 70 degrees and have about an inch to spare on the side of my bed. Little to scared to push it...
+Tim Garrison Great! Glad it helped you to make a wise purchase! I have not tested the limits of turning with my 5th Wheel but I know I can turn pretty sharp probably around the same as you.
Do you have to grease the hitch at all? How is it with hairpin turns and uneven terrain?
+Monica Langley no grease is needed, just light coating of Wd-40 on the rails themselves. This does awesome on hairpins and uneven terrain. We do a lot of dispersed camping in Utah on some pretty rough roads and it has performed great!
What is the clearance between the top of your trucks bed rails and the bottom of your fifth wheel cap?
+dan theman I haven't measured that and it won't be until another month or so before I hook up to the 5er again. I will say that there are several styles of pin boxes that could potentially effect that measurement. So what mine measures might be completely different from what yours measures.
Newbe to 5th wheel towing. But it wasn't clear, do you have to leave the tail gate down for clearance?
No you can have your tailgate up!
How does the hitch stay in the forward tow position when pulling and no lock mechanism is involved?
Hi shawn, thanks for the informative video, I have the same model just an older version. The problem I seem to have is when coming to a stop and taking off from a stop the hitch seems to jerk a little bit. Seems like it should only move on turns. Your thoughts?
The jerking may come from the stop screw at the front of the hitch needing re adjusted
You Made an awesome video keep up the good hard work
Thank you for the support! I will be releasing a new video of the Pullrite SuperLite hitch here shortly!
The hitch has no effect on sides to side sway.
do you get that jerking / pulling when you make turns like a normal slider hitch?
I’ve never experienced any jerking or pulling with this hitch.
Great Video!
DO you still have the hitch for sale?
In a pinch all you gotta do it pull the 2 pins holding the head to the slider part and it will lift off with the fifth wheel when you raise it..just a little pain to line back up but does work in a pinch.
does it slide back if you making a 90 degree turn in reverse?
+Esiquio Cervantes yes it sure does!
Sorry, Can the slide be locked when you not towing? Great Video
+Bob Piaro the slide cannot be locked when you're not hooked up to a trailer but I cut 2x4 blocks to stop the slide from moving
There is a stop and jam nut at the rear of the frame. When properly adjusted it prevents the head from rotating without the trailer.
Dont have to use safety chains?? Just put super glide in truck. First tow will be this weekend but noticed no where for safety chains. Have always had a gooseneck adapter on camper and just decided to try the super glide out. By the looks of your video you dont use them.. great video by the way!!
Chains are not required when you use a fifth wheel hitch. Only goose neck.
Kenny James thank you for the feedback! and as stated above chains are not required for a 5th wheel hitch! Happy camping!
I like to thank you bc i nevee knew of this hitch. I am about to buy a 40 ft fith
Glad i was able to help you out! Congrats on the new 5er!
@@CollaGoUnLTD Only problem with my is the capture plate keeps coming loose. Had it tightened by two different RV places but it still comes loose.
James Hickman I too had this issue, I ended up using a little Loctite Blue on the threads of the set bolt and it fixed the issue.
@@CollaGoUnLTD Great idea!
I need to add I have a 2500 short bed dodge 2014
I have to pull my 5th wheel through some unlevel terrain to get it on and off my farm, and just got this hitch and 5th wheel. I'm nervous on what would/could happen and how much angle I safely have as I'm towing "off road"
I bought a used 18k and installed in my truck but I don't have the capture plate? I have moved our 5th wheel around the property with no issue but we are getting ready to hit the road I probably need that plate huh?
Dan, yes you definitely need the capture plate as the hitch will not slide during turns without it.
What about Unhooking? How straight do you have to be for that?
+johngfortner within about 10° left or right of straight is ideal and about the max angle before you'll experience bad binding. I try to keep as straight as possible.
