Winterhold actually lost most of its buildings in the Great Collapse, that's what I meant. It's not about drawing parallels with real life, but in the game's own logic: Where other "cities" could hold dozens or more of households, Winterhold would barely fit more than... four? (I don't count the College, as it is clearly stated that it's not considered part of the city anymore) it's *smaller* than villages like Dragon's Bridge or Shor's Stone in term of standing buildings.
I know what you mean, Winterhold is the smallest "City" in Skyrim. It is a pity that the former Captiol of Skyrim and home of the College is now in such a poor state.
I’m okay with developers removing unfinished quests, but I’d love it if they’d release them in updates or dlc. Making Skyrim last as long as possible and keep on milking it.
"Impenetrable Fortress" - Hehehe, no. Like, actually. Put some portcullises on the bridge already. Watch Shadiversity's analysis of Windhelm's defenses for more detailed information. It's a very much penetrable city.
+LemonZ ToTheZ - Apart from the very likely possibility of avalanches destroying it, possibly even artificially engineered ones. +Iron Wolf - Yet no space for them to be drawn up to.

I was actually in the middle of the Butcher quest when I got suspicious of Calixto for wanting the necklace. I found the chest on his pseudo-second floor, saw it needed a key and decided to steal it from Calixto. With the key, you can find embalming tools (the weapon the butcher uses), and another butcher journal in which you can find his motives for the killing. For some reason my quest is glitched, so I can't finish it, even though I have found out who the murderer is.
The dancer's flute is actually a credit to the story of The Pied Piper. He blows his flute and all the rats in the town follow him away but the townsfolk didn't appreciate his help so he blew the flute again and all the town children was attracted to his music so they danced and followed the Pied Piper away.

Somebody didn't go through the whole quest XD But yeah, the curiosity cabinet man planted the amulet in order to frame the mage if somebody tried to pick up the trail. If you put Wuunferth in jail, come back to Windhelm later and you'll find out that the killings didn't stop. Go see him in the jail and he'll tell you to keep watch in the Stone Quarter at night. Alternatively, when Viola tells you to go to Jorlief with the journals and necklace, go to Wuunferth directly and accuse him of necromancy.
Your videos are of great quality. I'm always hyped when I see a new one popping in my subscriptions feed! Per lore: The peace was short-lived, as an attack by Snow Elves destroyed the rapidly growing settlement of Nords in Saarthal. As they considered the humans to be a lesser species, the elves had little qualms about the slaughter they committed. The ensuing genocide was known as the "Night of Tears" and the raid on Saarthal caused the demise of the entire population of the city. The Dwarves agreed to grant the Snow Elves refuge, but at a high price. They were forced to eat toxic plants in order to live underground. This toxic fungus naturally came from Blackreach, and the Dwemer fed the toxic fungus to the Snow Elves. The toxins gradually destroyed their sight, and this loss happened over generations. The Dwemer then forced the blind Snow Elves into slavery. Not all of the Snow Elves agreed to such a price. Splinter groups had formed to search for alternate solutions. These elves sought out other alliances, but, ultimately, most were slaughtered, vanished, or gave in and accepted the Dwemer's offers.
Again don't get like from me ! You mention all stuff with Ysgramor building Windhelm and etc... but... you forget to mention that he make the crypt for self under the Windhelm. Maybe is crypt remodeled latter to PIT you talking about ! It will be more cool that you mention this :)
Look, I know you're trying to make a living, but too many content creators are stretching the truth to their audiences about the RUclips adds. You see you can make more money so you claim you're having your videos demonetized. I then take a look at their channels, adds all over the videos - even the old ones. You'll probably come after me with a pitchfork for this - but you know it's true. Most of you Skyrim content creators are doing this, you want money from Patreon? Then ask for it, eventually your audiences are going to start fact checking your demonetizations like I did and find you're stretching the truth on it. I like you, I would have become one of your Patrons had I not gotten adds on nearly all of your videos. I got them after watching a video where you're asking for patrons because of demonetization. I actively went through for HOURS on your videos on the day you posted the video, never once on several browsers did I NOT get an add no matter what time period I was in watching. You do great content, I think you deserve patrons, when you're not lying to increase how much money you're making. The only Skyrim content creator I've seen recently who is asking for Patrons has been ESO. He's actually having his videos demonetized.
Hey man. I used to watch your gaming videos back when DS1 and Skyrim were still new games. I grew more distant from your channel when you started just posting lore videos. I am just wondering, what are you doing these days? I know you said that you had a job as someone that takes calls from customers, but you quit that to become a RUclipsr. I've always wondered what made you change the path of your channel, maybe you made a video about it but i've never seen it. You were one of my first subscriptions, introduced me to Dark Souls which I love, and have made some of my all time favorite playthroughs. Thank you for all of the good times.
11:31 Pantea of the Bards College sends you off for her Flute, which she says the thief, a necromancer thought it could make the dead dance. So ther IS another reference for a flute that can make the living and the dead dance.....
I think you should do a D&D mini series that goes over the lore of all of the playable races. I’m sure I’m not the only one who would want to see Elf, halfing, orc, dwarven, etc. lore secret videos. If anyone agrees, like this post so MrRhexx can see it!!
Make Windhelm Great Again lol In the next Elder Scroll I want the Dragon Born to kick Aldmeri ass and become the next Dragon emperor of Tamriel. And change reality via Amaranth and mantling Lorkhan and ascending to Godhood.
tho not so impenetrable in the game, as has been pointed out one of the walls is barren. they should have dug a moat there so the bridge is on one side, mountain on the other, river on the opposite and moat going around the back. also I wish they made have the city bigger and the crypt accessible.
I think the Dancer's Pipe is supposed to be a reference to an old smurf movie that involved a flute that when played, forced all but the player to dance, even until the point where'd they collapse from exhaustion, making it a prime tool for the movie's antagonist, a thief.
Ahem, no, the snow elves (some not all) went to the dwemer for help after they were defeated them and in exchange for their protection they became slaves to the dwemer NOT the humans, which is why they're found in dwemer ruins so much, the reason they can be found in other caves is because they had to dig around to get away from the dwemer machines that were keeping them from reaching the surface. Also the humans and snow elves were once on good terms until relations became worse and worse and a war broke out. Led by the snow prince the snow elves had the advantage until a young girl killed him and then, their hope dashed, they scattered and were hunted down in a genocidal fashion. Relations only started faltering when some great powerful artifact was discovered in human territory of skyrim(some say it was the eye of magnus) and the snow elves wanted it while the humans thought it shouldn't be tampered with. I was literally just studying the snow elves history today.
Even the concept art isn’t anything close to an impenetrable fortress. Thin walls, no crenellations or machicolations on the walls, no towers to provide field of fire overlap on the walls, no drawbridge on the bridge... a LOT wrong, really easily breached for a castle or fortress.
actually there is pantea's flute which necromancers stole because larina told them it could make the dead dance. that one was just a regular flute too, but there must be a real one out there somewhere...
if you put the mod Cutting Room Floor into the game, you can actually uncover who the murderer is of the Shatter-Shield lady, its the head wizard of Ulfric who uses an abandoned house as its lair, oh and you also gain some useless amulet, you can sell to that weird guy collecting weird stuff
Actually, the dancer's flute is an easter egg. There is.. a fable? Fairy tale? Legend? about a magic flute that caused people to dance - even against their will.
The imperial city was extensively sacked during the great war. It is very likely that the book of fate is no longer in the Arcaneum. It is probable that the book of fate could be real if it was brought back from the great war.

But latter when he die, he get buried north-west of Windhelm to can watch his old land, from where he come !!! Atmora :)
And crypt stay under Windhelm. What happen with crypt latter is never mention.
You are still a legend to the skyrim Communety, thank you very much for making cool Videos like this one MRRex :D
11:31 Pantea of the Bards College sends you off for her Flute, which she says the thief, a necromancer thought it could make the dead dance. So ther IS another reference for a flute that can make the living and the dead dance.....
Lore nuts rejoice, this is pure gold!
I think you should do a D&D mini series that goes over the lore of all of the playable races. I’m sure I’m not the only one who would want to see Elf, halfing, orc, dwarven, etc. lore secret videos.
If anyone agrees, like this post so MrRhexx can see it!!
Make Windhelm Great Again lol
In the next Elder Scroll I want the Dragon Born to kick Aldmeri ass and become the next Dragon emperor of Tamriel. And change reality via Amaranth and mantling Lorkhan and ascending to Godhood.
What happened to the really chill calm music
Oh my God he's back! Good to see you!
ive played a horrendous amount of time of Elder Scrolls Online and i can confirm there is no mention of the dancing flute :)
tho not so impenetrable in the game, as has been pointed out one of the walls is barren. they should have dug a moat there so the bridge is on one side, mountain on the other, river on the opposite and moat going around the back. also I wish they made have the city bigger and the crypt accessible.
Ysgramors soup spoon is actually a reference to a Chuck Norris joke. “Chuck Norris does not eat soup with a spoon, but with a fork.”
Um...Caxillo is the Butcher. theres a quest that has you first finger the court wizard and the set him free and prove it was Caxillo. There a diary in a chest above the door that says that he's killing women to bring his sister back and they items are all fake
I married Angrenor in my game because I felt sorry for him.
Am I the only one, beliving that the Dancer's Flute belongs to the creepy skeever owner below the Honey Mead Brewery in Whiterun ?
I want that pit just so I don’t have to pay for killing so many guards...um I mean stealing
I didn't know the museum guy was the murderer! How did you find out? If possible tell me without adding any additional spoilers.
