That's CBU3 for you. They did that in FF14 Endwalker with a certain boss that would have been a near end-game boss if it was any other game but it was actually early in the expansion
really wished they added more imput other that square during cinematic climax to had to the complexity of the fight during animation and depending of the score, put added damage and effect that might even change animation, depending of the score of the imput. That would have been awesome

It’s the ones that are ridiculously complex and/or come in with very little reaction time that are frustrating. Giving the player a easy to react to and simple QTE is okay, IMO. It doesn’t take me from the cutscene and in some cases, makes me feel part of it.

Elden Ring and most From Software ARPG games are insanely bigger, there is a reason why modern action games like GOW or Jedi Fallen Order took Soulsaction gameplay instead of DMC

The kaiju fight felt too cutscene interrupted. It was cool watching them fight with everything nonstop but each little sequence broke up the flow and agency.
The cinematic attack prompts stop the fluidity of the fight and are unnecessary, why would the fight have to pause for us to press square, with such a big time-window, just for the sequence to resume? It takes away from the fight itself.
Of course the combat looks sick. Ryota Suzuki, the man responsible for Devil May Cry 5's combat design is working in this game. Dude is the Giga Chad of action games

I’m getting some mad GOW vibes from these in game quick time events that are happening during this insanely epic boss fight. Imagine if the other boss fights throughout this game are all like this.
Amazing graphics that no one can see in the dark. Amazing attack animations in human form that no one can appreciate behind so much visual clutter. Fast paced rapid attacks that lack any impact and devolve into damage number clutter. Half the time is spent enjoying the game, but the other half is deciphering wtf is happening.

Casual gamers usually picks final fantasy, Bethesda or other games over from software or challenging games as they don't have time to invest or waste on digital rewards or accomplishments. QTEs are annoying. I’m glad Square decided to keep it simple and be fairly lenient so you can focus on the cinematic, and not trying to pass the QTE
Probably playing on Journalist mode, since IGN are typically worthless when it comes to gameplay. Only thing worse then their reviews really.

QTEs are basically serving as tutorial and you are going to see less and less as the game progresses plus this was in story focus mode only.

Modern Turn-based Tactics Final Fantasy in this graphics is very needed.
