Honestly I think Ling Yunche is Ruyi's actual soulmate. Ruyi never wanted to be Empress she would had been happy with just having a normal life sadly the man she loved at the time was the Emperor. As the show developed it may not have shown on Ruyi's end but Ling Yunche loved her and tried hard not to show it. They both looked out for eachother and when he was gone Ruyi couldn't stop thinking about him in fact she also stopped loving the Emperor after he nurtured Ling Yunche. It's sad they both fell in love with the wrong people otherwise they could've had a beautiful life together.
The Emperor has never been there for Ruyi. He had mistreated her & suspected her of things she didn’t do time & time again until he finally killed her love for him when he tortured & killed Ling Yunche. I really liked him in the beginning but have grown to hate him. He made Ruyi suffer so much with his suspicions & insecurities! I hated how this series ended, so sad! 😡
Because they kinda respect history and in real life, she dies.... As well if they scale or something they end up death as well Is like why yingluo didn't end with fugheng. Is because she has to be imperial noble. Consort ling at the end

Remember when Ling Yunche saved Yongji from death, getting stabbed himself, while the Emperor couldn't even comfort Yongji, god, Qianlong was so useless.
Yong Ji is too filial, he's too pitiful of a child, lost his mother and probably will never understand why his father didn't love his mother as before..
It would be great if you were to put these in chronological order. As a non-native Chinese speaker, its hard enough just keeping up with language and culture, nontheless having this story presented all over the place and out of order. Can't keep up with events when the whole program is like a flash-back and fast-forward.
Ruyi's second son is 13th prince. He died at childbirth, his death caused by the midwife under the order of Consort Ling. Ruyi also had a daughter, 5th Princess, who also died quite young. She was born with a heart problem and Consort Ling used Consort Jia's dog to scare the child and she died shortly after. Consort Jia was blamed for the incident. So Ruyi lost a daughter and then a son due to Consort Ling's schemes. She only has one older son left, the 12th prince.
