Just had the opportunity to watch the vid and man I tell you your guy's content and videographer is just getting better and better . Thanks for sharing Kitty and Rod it was awesome 👍🎣😎
Thanks Minko!!! I am so excited to show you our next episode... I know this is a HIKE FORAGE FISH CHAN... But how would you feel about watching some gold panning?????????????? Next week! 🤞🤞🤞
Hi guys, Kitty I saw you prospecting with pioneer Pauly and came to check out your channel! I like it, new sub here! Great catch and cook looked so good! I love all the outdoor stuff too! Thanks for taking us along! Be safe & ATB
Hey there Dragonfly Digs! Thank you so much and welcome! Our next video I am REEALLLLY excited about and I know you will like it too. We will be releasing "my take" of PPauly's outing, hopefully next week. Stay tuned and stay golden!
Your vids are incredible! I rode my motorbike solo to the Yukon and NWT in 2013, and my FIRST CAST I caught a 2 lb pike on the Yukon River! There was a bad thunderstorm coming, so I decided to let it go rather than trying to cook during a monsoon. I gotta get back up there! Wish I was into GOLD when I went!
Looks like you were using a really light set up, can you run down the line weight, lure size and rod you were using? Beautiful fish, looks like a blast to catch :) Keep the videos coming!
The rod used in the video is a Shimano Clarus CSS66ML2D. It's a 6'6" spinning rod, rated 4 to 10lb. This is a really awesome rod for those light to medium fisheries. It's light enough for trout and smallmouth bass, heavy enough for pike, pink salmon, coho salmon etc. The spinning reel is a Shimano Stradic 2500FL. This is the reel we also use for just about everything... Steelhead, coho, chum salmon, bull trout, rainbow trout in rivers, sometimes bigger trout in lakes, and of course pike in this video. We put 15lb test braided line on there (I use PowerPro), and tie a section (around 6ft) of 15lb Seaguar fluorocarbon to the end, followed by the wire leader for pike fishing. The lure used in this video is a 1/4oz Gibbs Croc spoon. They come in many different colours and patterns, the one we were using is called "Hammered Brass Metallic Perch".
Hahaha it was weed I swear it was weed😂😂 I didn’t know pike actually taste that good, I think someone once told me the bigger pikes don’t taste as good :) such a nice video, thanks Kitty!
@@SamFishingChannel I typically like to harvest younger/smaller fish such as Lake Trout and Halibut, to protect the females/older slow growing fish. I can't tell you how larger Pike taste, because I've only eaten fish within the slot limit 75 cm (30''). I think for Pike it realllly depends where and when you harvest them. Like trout they probably develop a muddy texture/taste when coming out of warm water.
Hey Glen, you do need a separate license in order to fish up there. If you are a Canadian resident it is $15 for 6 days or $25 bucks for the year. If you are a resident of Yukon it is cheaper.
HAY KITTY THIS IS PAULIE I JUST GOT FINISHED COMENTATING ON YOUR GOLD PANNING WITH PAULY... YA I SAW THAT ADDITION WHEN IT AIRED ON PAULY'S CHANEL... I LOVE HIS STUFF CAUSE HE ALWAYS GETS CANDY... Heyyyyyy Paul!!! You know what? You should videos just to try it out and see how it goes. Give it some time. Pauly was the one who inspired me to start up my own channel, and convinced me that people would like to see the adventures I go on. You just got to start somewhere, and what's a better time than right MEOW!
It's good to see you fishing from a great Minnesota made Lund boat and not one of those Canadian knock-offs ! The best lure for pike is the Dare Devil 5 of Diamonds !!!!
I'm pickin' up what you're putting down, but unfortunately there was no 5 of diamonds in this deck during our trip. Next time I'll bring it along. Thanks Wayne for the input!
You fish with so small lures?! In Sweden a 13 cm (like 5 inch?) wobbler is a small lure for pike. Even the small ones you chated in this video. My fav lure is the Savage Gear Line Thru Roach, 25cm (10inch)and 216gr(7.6 ounce) and even with that i get 2kg pike. You need to step up if you whant them big ones! 😁🦈
Why not "long line" troll weed beds with spinners for pike. Or even if you use a trolling motor you could possibly drag top water lures around. Idk how effective it would be but it's a diffrent way to fish for them. Maybe even jerkbaits
The 1/4 ounce Gibbs Croc is what we switched up to after using a bigger lure that kept getting tangled (back at Tagish). I am pretty sure they were fish hitting the entire time. Sometimes I'm a bit dramatic! :P
@@dazad400 Today I am going to attempt to cook them in muffin tins... It was suggested to me by one of PPaul's buddies actually... 1man2pans! If you have someone who could help me, however, send em my way. 👍
I haven’t eaten pike in many years. So long ago that I can’t even remember how it tasted. But two things have changed over the years. I have begun catching pike since moving to the Adirondacks of New York, and I am a much better cook than I was in my 20s. So guess I will have to do a catch and cook of my own with pike now. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Please do Ralph, catch one and cook it up that evening! You're missing out! We just used one of those simple grab and go crispy batter bags from the local grocery story. That's the beauty of it all, you don't need to be a Master Chef to cook Pike!
Fishing with Rod - I agree. Water quality and time of year have a lot to do with fish taste. Recently, I have been able to purchase “wild caught Alaskan Kokanee salmon” fillets that have never been frozen from the local Aldi’s food market. ‘Tis good. And my own wild caught brook trout (not from hatchery) in the Adirondack Mountains have been exceptional. Cold, clean mountain ponds.
